UND @ NDSU Gameyear Thread

But NDSU fans don't list beating a mediocre FCS team among their team's best DI accomplishments, even if that team happened to be ranked at the time.

It may hurt to admit it, but UND has zero noteworthy DI football accomplishments.

Thanks for the pointless clarification.

No one is attempting to oversell the DI accomplishments of UND. The emphasis is on the future; UND will be a top FCS football school - like NDSU - within 5 years. Just let it soak in and stop being so difficult.

Mighty bold prediction considering what the Bison have accomplished in the last 5 years. The Bubba koolaid is flowing in GF.

Again, misread on your part.

"Like NDSU" implies top FCS school (e.g., Montana, Montana State, Northern Iowa, etc.) and not multi-national titles.

NDSU was successful in DII and now is successful at FCS. UND was successful in DII and will eventually also will be successful at FCS. To what degree remains to be seen.

Sorry, but this is fallacious reasoning. It does not follow that because UND was moderately successful in DII (and one DII championship really isn't all that successful), it will be successful in DI-FCS. So far, the most that can be said is that UND may be successful at this level. However, UND's record since it moved up shouldn't give you, or anyone else, much confidence.

That claim is about as absurd and funny as NDSU fans claiming they will be in the Big 12 one day.

Just curious what would make you claim that? The fact that you have a fan base who views FCS football as a joke and does not attend games? The fact that FCS football at UND is ridiculously low compared to other peer institutions? The fact that UND has been getting crushed, to put it lightly, for top regional talent compared to NDSU, SDSU, UNI etc?

UND has a long way to go towards being a top program in the Big Sky let alone the FCS. I can see UND being competitive in the Big Sky and cracking the top 25 within the next 5 years. There is nothing UND has done to make me believe they will be a top FCS team like NDSU within the next 5 years. To be like NDSU means you are winning national championships. Maybe refrase your prediction and say competitive playoff team like SDSU.

Idaho State won a national championship at the FCS/D1AA level just like Boise State. As such it is inevitable that Idaho State will one day become just as good at football as Boise State is right now.

Two words; Northern Colorado.

It's so easy to post things like this when you are on top...2009 wasn't long ago was it.

The difference is that UND has never been on top like NDSU is now, and there is absolutely no basis for anyone to expect, or even hope, that UND will ever be where NDSU is now.

NDSU was never on top prior to 2011, in fact your fanbase was calling for Bohl's head after a 3-8 season just 6 short seasons ago. I wonder what was being said about NDSU on SDSU's, UNI's among other message boards. UND was at the bottom of the NCC when Roger Thomas took over in 1986 and it was a long climb but UND make it to the top, Bubba was there when it happened and saying they can't do it again is just ignorance and fright.

There are many factors that go into being successful at the D1 level. Obviously, success at the DII level is an important one, but by no means is it the only factor.

I don't feel like going in circles with you trolls so I'm going to make this concise and straightforward: there is no reason UND fans should not be optimistic about the future of UND football. UND has the facilities, fanbase size, and academic institution to produce a perennial top FCS program.

It's not all about NDSU and the present.

Last time: no one said UND is going to get where NDSU is now. Just loosen up and have some fun.

UND will be a top FCS program and that's okay with most UND fans for now.

That's fear in the eyes of the Bison faithful that payed attention from 1993-2003.

Interesting that you remember UND's long climb to one DII championship, but seem to have completely forgotten that NDSU won 8 national championships (including three out of four) prior to 2011.

Even if NDSU had not won the last 4 championships, it would still be true that UND has never been "at the top" like NDSU has been at the top.

It was a long climb to not only de-throne NDSU but make the playoffs year after year and play 2 NC games from 2001-2003, while UND was on top of the NCC world and becoming a known name across the DII world they were also winning NC in women's bb and hockey, not bad where football isn't our #1 sport. Funny how the Fargodome didn't host one single DII playoff game while the Alerus hosted numerous ones in your last days of DII.

Loosen up and have some fun? Pointing out the obvious superiority of NDSU's football program IS fun.

Keep beating your chest cause I am sure BV will be flocking with UND fans when we de-throne you. Oh wait it won't happen...UND fans would get banned after the first minute of their post. Censorship runs wild on Bisonswille.

And none of that even remotely compares to what NDSU accomplished either before or after 2011. You had an OK run but your football trophy case is still pretty empty.

But our hockey case is full and that's where the money goes, so UND football if funded like NDSU would have a lot of trophies.

Dethrone NDSU? At your current rate of championships, NDSU could eliminate football and you wouldn't catch up until the next millennium.

Wow, a buthockey argument. You must really think you're losing the football argument.

It proves our football program does more with its "limited" funds, kinda like other non-football schools. Could Kansas or Duke be a football powerhouse of the funds weren't geared towards basketball? Could NDSU win more NC in other sports if they didn't gear the funds towards football? But let's ignore that fact and count rings.
