Washburn Sioux
Green Beer Guy, alias Kim McLeod, a UND Alumni originally from North Dakota and a great hockey advocate; passed away today after battling Acinic Cell Carcinoma for the last 2 years, 4 months. If you were at either the UND-CC series at the Springs, or the UND-Denver series in Denver, and your beer was tinted green, it was most likely done by Kim McLeod the Green Beer Guy, or by one of his trainees. Goon had done an article on Kim last season. Llisted below are a couple of links to Dawgnation, a non-profit organization that exists to help members of the greater hockey family. Dawgnation arranged a Sioux cap that was signed by the entire Fighting Sioux Hockey team, which was given to him last year at the UND-Denver series in Denver. Kim was a big supporter of Sioux Hockey and Dawgnation. Dawngnation constantly demonstrates why they are a first class organization. Kim got to meet Aaron Dell, where he also got to drop the puck to start the game, see the photos in the links below.. http://www.dawgnatio...how/700159-news http://www.dawgnationhockey.org/page/show/710260-home Green Beer Guy will be missed immensely, Ron McLeod, brother of Green Beer Guy

ringneck28
Ron, I work with your niece in Bismarck. Every time she would talk about Kim, she has a twinkle in her eye. Kim is going to be greatly missed in Sioux Nation. I will keep your entire family in prayers. God Bless you and yours.

Washburn Sioux
Thanks for the Condolences! Sorry if the links aren;t working, as stated it's easy to get around at Dawgnationhockey.org Kim liked to travel back to the Ralph at least once a year to get together with family and friends, numbering anywhere from 8 to 20 people, for a great week-end of Fighting Sioux Hockey. There are a couple of trips that stand out: The 2002-2003 WCHA First Round playoffs against Denver, we had acquired 2nd row seats behind the Denver bench. We all had the large beers, tinted green of course. His wife was back home in Denver listening to the game on a Denver radio station. The annoucers were saying that everything around the arena was green, people were dressed in green, some had green hair, and some even had green beer! She knew right away that the annoucers must have been able to look down and see that we all had green beer. For the 2006 NCAA Regional at the Ralph, Kim had purchased a white T-shirt and with a black marker he wrote "Anybody but the Gophers" on it and made several laps around the concourse to ensure that many fans could enjoy it. His t-shirt even received some press the next day in the Grand Forks Herald. We always had a good time at the games, regardless of the outcomes or the weather. It will be different to carry on the tradition without him, but Traditions must go on!.
