star2city Posted November 16, 2011 Posted November 16, 2011 Apparently Bottineau and Rugby will now be a Co-op in the west region, this could cause some concern for a few teams in the west. Should be interesting to see how the beginning of the season starts out. That's a long long round trip for hockey practice. Does Williston pick up kids from Watford City, Sidney, and Crosby? Quote

almostheavenin2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Posted November 17, 2011 Minot's youth program is growing and will continue to grow. Also, there are plans in the works to add a 3rd sheet of ice (with decent seating for the junior team, etc.) to the MAYSA complex. That junior team will fold in either one or two years like the previous ones did. Quote

almostheavenin2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 No, it won't. What makes it any different? 1 Quote
almostheavenin2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 No, it won't. Are you thinking that the 4th team in the last 22 years will be the charm? Quote

andtheHomeoftheSIOUX!! Posted November 18, 2011 Posted November 18, 2011 Haven't they always been a co-op? I'm not 100% sure, but I don't think Rugby has ever had their own team at the high school level... or have they? I do know that Bottineau/Rugby have already been a co-op at the Peewee/Bantam levels in recent years. Rugby used to have a junior gold team. Quote
dakotadan Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Is Wahp/Breck playing in Minnesota now? Quote
Teeder11 Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Back in the 80s, during that oil boom, some of the best youth/high school (Park and Rec high school leagues) hockey players in Dickinson, Watford, Sidney and Williston were kids from Alberta and the Range area in Minnesota whose families moved to western North Dakota for oil related jobs. I wonder if we will start seeing more of the same this time around, especially with the Williston H.S. team. Any western N.D. posters have any insight on any new talent that is immigrating into the area because of the oil boom? Quote
sioux rube Posted November 24, 2011 Posted November 24, 2011 Is Wahp/Breck playing in Minnesota now? Yes they are and it's about time. Quote
mj3und Posted December 13, 2011 Posted December 13, 2011 Bottineau and Rugby were co-oping last year also. The co-op incorporated Rugby into the name this year and in coming years more games will be played in Rugby depending on the numbers from each school district. Bottineau and Rugby have had co-ops in Bantams and PeeWee's for the last 3 years or so. Quote
