redwing77
When did Brandt get his penalty, before or after the SCSU 2nd goal? With about a minute left in the 3rd period I think the key factor in today's loss was forecheck locking her purse in her darn car and myself losing my ticket altogether. sioux fan in phoenix
Forgot to thank all the nice souls out there who kept me updated throughout the game tonight. Getting out of the house after the game allowed me to get a little perspective on tonight's loss. * Was pleased with the officiating in that they didn't allow SCSU to get away with that ugly style of hockey (actually they did get away with it as UND's lackluster PP is turning into a bonafide nightmare. This can't continue & changes have to be made now. 3 coaches should be able to remedy this for crying out loud--it's not rocket science) * Hats off to SCSU for coming to play. I admire a team that plays hard. * Many upsets around the country tonight: Harvard & N.H. lost & maybe some other favorites, as well. * Just a minor setback tonight, I hope. A win tomorrow still puts UND at 3-1 in conference play before heading to Denver. A loss tomorrow would be a big setback. & I expect a convincing Sioux win tomorrow. No "ifs", "couldas" or "shouldas" should be accepted by the Sioux faithful with all the talent we have. It's time to rock & keep our chins up. Thx again, guys, for the fabulous updates!! OETKB
Just got home from 2 1/2 hours of walleyball - my regular Friday night routine. Pretty much expected to see a Sioux loss when I checked in, and I was right. Saw the first and part of the second period. My perspective follows. Sioux were slower paced than SCSU. That is a team that works incredibly hard every shift and made UND look slack, a bit like UND did to UM last weekend. Huskies just whacked the puck out of their zone every chance they got. UND's tenacious forcheck and minute-long sessions of cycling of the puck (during the UM series) were AWOL tonight. Tomorrow will be the same outcome unless UND can put even more pressure on the goalie. The Sioux seriously need to work harder tomorrow than they have during any of the games to date. They need to crash the net and get some ugly goals. Otherwise, they'll suffer an SCSU sweep. I was really impressed with how fast and blue-collar the Huskies were tonight. Time to suck it up and salvage a split. Go Sioux.

denbo1
Don't panic, you don't want to peak in Nov. You don't win championships in Nov. Does this sound this POI?
redwing77
We were awful in the first period. My neighbor and I stated that, if our defense wasn't as good as it was, I'm positive it would have been at least 3-0 SCSU after one. I agree, a loss is a setback, but a sweep would be catastrophic. Tonight is a MUST win for the Sioux. About the hustle, both teams had ton of hustle in the 2nd and 3rd, but one thing you must realize is that SCSU is a smaller and faster team. Some of their skaters are just plain faster than our bigger players. A lot of this SCSU getting the puck in the Sioux zone after a clear was because it was Schneider, Greene, or Smaby going after the puck along with some 5'9" dman or so. He was fast. Hill is fast too. The one thing I didn't like was Hendrick's leadership on the ice. Schneider will complain whe we are getting shafted but when the ref turns away from him, he realizes that the conversation is over. Hendricks almost followed the refs into their locker room. Suck it up, Huskies. Also, Coole's bitching about this and that. He's winning, therefore there is no reason to complain. This is a fast team folks. And one with EXCELLENT chemistry on the ice. They are not explosive like us, but they stay at home with their defense and they get the jobs done. Notice how Coole didn't wander very far from the net. Brandt nearly caused heart attacks last night.
Goon
Can anybody comment on the softness of the GWG who saw it live or on TV? It was a horrible goal, it looked like Brandt was asleep and didn't guard the post very well and the goal slipped in. First off I wouldn't put the blame on the Goal Tending because Brandt put in a winning effort tonight, in fact he made some good saves. The people that should take ownership for this loss is the forwards. In the first period they plain out didn't do anything. UND came out and lolly gagged around, they played lifeless without emotion and frankly sucked, it was a horrible game to watch and beer made this game tolerable. Frankly there is no reason UND should have lost to this !@$! Bag team. SCCC has no debt and can't skate with us if they tried. I had watching games were there are trap teams clutching and grabbing up and down the ice. Zach had a SCCC players sitting in his breezers all night. SCCC will eventually come crashing down to earth if they are going to rely on their goaltending, they are not going to be the WCHA champ this season. Mark my words. This game reminded me of the SCCC team that has Lisa as its goaltender, they sit in their own end letting the goaltender face a bunch of shots and the goal tender spins a beauty. jk
I'm a little disappointed that the depth that I believe exists in the lineup hasn't translated onto the scoreboard recently. A look at last night's boxscore reminded me that little of the game was played 5x5, which helps to explain why the lower lines didn't contribute much. Still, they need to get on the board. Hopefully Massen will be in tonight, and maybe he can put one in. He's been a Husky killer of sorts in his career. These were the stretches of time in the second period that were played 5x5: 3:28 0:56 0:50 0:50 0:04 (the time it took Porter to step out of the box and can Ianazzo) 0:05 for a grand total of 6:13 played 5x5 in the second period. If it seemed like there wasn't any flow, that might be why. I enjoy Porter's aggressive play, but I wonder if he might sit in favor of Massen to think about not taking quite so many penalties. Goon
I would bet the house the James will play tonight and will be a factor in the game. UND should win tonight. There is no excuse to losing to SCCC. Noticed that UMD lost to BSU last night again for a second year in a row. Hum, that maybe a painful loss come selction time again. Denver tied UAA in Anchorage. So Denver might not be a strong as we thought. UofM tied Wisconsin after losing a lead in another game. Wow, things happen in strang ways sometimes. Rediculous. I hope Schimidt chokes on his wistel tonight.
redwing77
And, Bemidji beats Duluth, again They even had Todd Anderson as a ref and he didn't call 40 penalties! UMD blew it big time on a night that featured Anderson losing his whistle.
CoteauRinkRat
I never blamed Porter for the loss. He just flat out, didn't play well. Just one of many reasons we lost. I agree, he played as bad as I've seen a player play in a game.

UMD blew it big time on a night that featured Anderson losing his whistle. BSU scored 2 PPG and a ENG. tUMD got totally outplayed and were completely dominated. They should have lost 5-1/6-1 but Reichmuth kept them in the game. Worst Bulldog loss I've ever witnessed in person. This season is really weird so far for all WCHA teams. forecheck
I think the key factor in today's loss was forecheck locking her purse in her darn car and myself losing my ticket altogether. Hey, don't blame this s&!t on me! I had the worst 30 minutes before the game last night. I got to the arena and couldn't find my ticket, so I'm frantically searching my car. Finally I decided I must have dropped it in the parking lot at home so I shut the passenger door to go around to the other side and drive home, when I realized I locked my purse/cell phone/ID/keys in the car. And my roommate wasn't home. How stupid do you have to be? I can't believe I got into the game. I did find my ticket in the parking lot this morning... Goon
I agree, he played as bad as I've seen a player play in a game. I have never in all of my hockey watching days have I ever seen a player go into the box, come out of the penalty box and in an elasped period of time of 4 short seconds be rigth back in the Sin-Bin for 2 more minutes. I sure hope he was feeling a little shame. I am sure Blaiser will have a talk with the young lad about keeping his cool.
Fedorov
How did you get in without a ticket? I would like to file complaint #2434980950 against REA. Why do I need to show my ticket to go to my seat? The only possible argument is that it is to make sure students are not trying to take other students' seats. This could not be true because there have been people kicked out of my area at every game. So, I want to know why they are wasting my time and requiring me to keep my ticket out. U2Bad1
The funny thing is last year i locked my keys in the car before going to a SCSU game too.
forecheck
How did you get in without a ticket? Through a very lengthy process. I must have explained my rather embarassing situation to a million people. I went to the student entrance and asked if they could at least let me in to find a friend to take me home, even though I didn't have my keys to get into the house. But they said they couldn't and sent me to the front entrance because apparently they reprint tickets for you if you lose yours. So I explained my situation and asked if they would be able to print me a ticket, but of course you need some sort of ID to get it printed. Finally she asked someone else if they could do it, and another girl asked for my address, phone number, etc. since I have season tickets and they have all that information in their computer system. So yay, I get a ticket. Then I figure, hey, I may as well go in at the main entrance. Nope. The ticket guy's scanner starting beeping like I was a freaking terrorist, and he looks at my ticket and tells me I have to go around to the student entrance. I tell him I don't have an ID anyway and that they just reprinted a ticket off for me, but I still had to go around. You gotta be fisting me. So I go back to the student entrance and since I don't have an ID, I had to tell the people at the office there my NAID #, and he pulled up my picture from my student ID on the screen and compared it to me to make sure I was a student. Then I got a pretty pink piece of paper that said I was a student and Oila, 20 minutes later I'm in the building.

redwing77
Forecheck asked for my assistance in confirming her identity, but there really wasn't much I could do. We're students. It's not like they'd believe me saying "Yeah, she is who she says she is." I did so anyways, and I admit I wasn't too convincing. Just another one of those things that makes you scratch your head and wonder if this happens elsewhere. As for Porter, something was fishy with that last penalty of his. Steps onto the ice and gets called right away? It reeks of the Greene situation last year with Sheperd. Schmidt doesn't like Porter and so he picks on him. Yeah, most of his penalties were penalties, but that last one.... I'm thinking Blais thought so too. A single playerspending 8 minutes in the box wouldn't play the last half of the game if Blais though the player was entirely at fault. Riverman
Craig Dahl made a funny! GF-Herald.11-15 Quote: (I was hoping they wouldn't keep calling penalties all night long) Hey him and me both! But really Craig, if you are going to keep skating 6 guys on the ice all the time it just isn't fair!
Diggler
How about the fact that they check your tickets every time you come into your section. The lady who is in my section knows me and knows where I sit. But she still has to look at my ticket every time. Huh?
