Sanford Health officially unveils new name, mission Kelby Krabbenhoft, the Sanford CEO, attended a UND Siouxperswing last Thursday. Among other things he was very complimentary of the UND Medical School and the UND athletic dept. He stated "Sanford Health wants to be part of UND's athletic scholarships, UND's $300,000,000 capital campaign and part of UND's $19.2 million dollar indoor FB practice/indoor track facility". He also stated Sanford was very happy with sponsorship of the Siouxperswings and indicated a willingness to continue that relationship. There are also a number of things Sanford wants to do on the medical side but they have indicated they want to be a big part of UND atheltics and academics outside of the Medical School. Quote

KrabbenhoftA native of Mankato, Minnesota, Mr. Krabbenhoft received his BA in Business and Hospital Administration from Concordia College in Moorhead, MN, where he was a varsity basketball standout. He received his Masters in Business Administration from Minnesota State University Mankato. Thanks for the info from the Siouxper Swing, Ira. I remember back earlier in the year that Sanford/MeritCare gave a gift of $1.5M to UND. Hopefully that was the first step of a long journey with Sanford and UND. Quote

Not surprised considering Sanford has its sights set on acquiring Altru. Quote
moser53 Posted July 26, 2010 Posted July 26, 2010 I believe Krabbenhoft grew up in Northwood. That's what I've read. Quote
Sioux-cia Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Sanford is also in rural southern Minnesota. I wonder how its services and holdings compare to Mayo? Quote
siouxjoy Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Not surprised considering Sanford has its sights set on acquiring Altru. I had heard they were looking at Aurora, but I don't know how reliable that rumor is... Quote
Hammersmith Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 Which do you think will come first: Altru(or Aurora) or Medcenter One in western ND? I think Sanford will eventually absorb both, but I don't know the order or timeline. Quote

Matt Posted July 27, 2010 Posted July 27, 2010 According to some docs I've spoken with at Medcenter, Sanford approached them a while back and they declined. Wanted to partner for a children's hospital, but Medcenter didn't want to become Sanford. Quote
