fightingsioux4life
FSSN names Alex Stalock Player of the Game. Here we go with the "hot goaltender" BS again!
Windsor
Is it just me or does martens really not impress u? it seems like he does nothing when he has the puk and not a very good defensive player.... i think mario brings more intensity then martens... I agree about Mario, I like the intensity that he brings. And he can't be anymore of an offensive liability than anyone who dressed tonight. siouxforeverbaby
We could have just as well handed them the game in the first period. Shoot the puck boys, it is not that hard and it is easier to score! I WANT FINLEY BACK!!!!!!!!!! I know that he has his haters, but he brings leadership, experience, and to some extent a certain toughness to the game. That being said, I have faith in our boys and believe that they will get it together. As hard as they are making it to cheer for them right now, they will turn it around. undchris
What a tough loss to swallow! I know it's early in the season still, but you like to see the boys win against teams that they should easily beat! They need to shoot the puck more and attack the net! They have a long ways to go this season if they want to get far at all!! *shakes head*..still a tough loss to swallow.
Goon
When will they make a knee on knee a Major. That was deliberate and it could have ended Trupp's season let alone his career. That was a dirty bush league move and Meyers should have been out of the game. I don't want to hear that it wasn't intentional because it was deliberate. Irish
One of the problems as I see it is that we have two sub-par recruiting classes (sophs & juniors). We need to go out and get some studs so we can beat the likes of Alaska Anchorage and Minnesota Duluth. Come on coaches - pick up the pace. Also, it seems like we don't hit anyone anymore. What I've seen this year is a long way from Sioux hockey.
fightingsioux4life
Duluth is a well-coached team and plays tough in front of its own net. But with the exception of a couple of players, they have pedestrian talent and should not be this difficult for us to handle. If this is the best we have to offer, we are looking at a middle of the pack finish in the WCHA this year, if not lower. I don't know if they can pull the fat out of the fire again this season. Wilbur
I don't really know if you can fault the effort. The guys put up 38 shots on goal, buzzed around the Duluth net the entire second and third period, and played pretty well defensively, and got some good goaltending. Stalock was phenomenal, but at the same time he better keep his lucky rabbits foot in his breezers, because a couple of times the puck went right into him when he was all but down and out. I guess the only thing I'm really disappointed in is the powerplay, and the finishing. Other than that I can't be upset with the effort. Someone mentioned Lamoureax in for Martens.....boy do I agree. It seems like every guy on the team loves Martens or "Marty" but what has the guy done in his time at UND? Ohh yeah, FIRE HAK!
Trunk Monkey
Maybe we just don't have the talent to compete in the WCHA this year. LaPoint...nope; trying Miller at defense, I don't think so. We are slow, lack desire and cannot find a goal at even strength.
Goon
From Fighting Sioux for life's signature. UND Fighting Sioux Hockey 2005-2008 summed up in three words: "We're real close." Dave Hakstol via GF Herald; Friday, 11/21/08 I hate clinches and I hate to do this but this team is pretty close to playing well.

TCSIOUXFAN
At this point, people? We.....and by WE I mean Hak and the boys, are going to have to play hard for 5th in the WCHA for a home series, get to the Final 5, and hope for the best.......This is NOT a frozen 4 club........My question is....It is NOT talent.....Is it TEAMWORK, or COACHING? I hate to second guess Hak ( I have done this before and been embarrased...) but..... I dont know.....anyone?
burd
You know the Sioux are not getting it done when they continually try to rely on the long pass--and not in just the last 5 minutes. It also seemes like they haven't discovered yet how to make that last setup pass off the cycle. It's early, but this one hurt.
BringDeanBack
That Jr class isn't bad. Small. VV, Genoway and Zajac. Agree that Junior class isn't bad, but it isn't great either. You have a Senior and Junior class that are solid, but not spectacular, then you have a Sophmore class that hasn't shown up this year, and a Freshman class that shows promise, but they are still way too young to be counted on to pick up the slack from the other three classes. Goon
Good one! I think honestly the Fighting Sioux are pretty close to getting it together. The Sioux are almost there. I look around the NCAA right now and this is the most parity I have ever seen in college hockey. The CCHA is god awful. The other night Jerry York and Jack Parker were on NESN between periods of the Bruins game and York and Parker were talking up the Hockey East and since the two coaches made their appearance BU is 0-2 and B.C. split this weekend. My point is this hockey season is wide open anyone can win and it won't probably be anyone we expect.

I can only hope that this team can build from the early season struggles, however the skeptical side of me tells me it is going to be a very different result for the year for the Sioux compared to prior year runs.
