  1. Not a surprise, but a relief Maag is playing up to his potential.(last few games anyway) That relieved some of the load on Bo and Tommy to make all the plays. O-line is giving Tommy time besides the SIU game. Hoos and Smith a fantastic 1-2 punch. Hoos has been above expectations. Zavalney and Red falling out of favor though?? Disappointments - The pass defense for sure. TE Graveyard U. Expectations - Beat the Jacks at home after a bye week. Jacks coming off NDSU game. It could not line up any better.
  2. They actually thought Targeting meant shopping for a specific item. Therefore upon further review no Targeting.
  3. Clock Management would have subtracted some points by Youngstown. Tommy played well but 2 big overthrows, too. So ya the blocked punt was HUGE but it's not like we didn't have other "outs" during the game for the good guys!! It's a well deserved win.
  4. Anyone know if they teach female refs about defensive holding? I mean they probably know about it from when they played right?
  5. Also, the way Tommy is playing there was a good shot at a TD, then up 7 at half.
  6. Called game management. It wins games.
  7. Really bad game and clock management.
  8. Vaugh should have sneaked for 1 yard, then even if we don't gain another yard kick a FG and go into half up 3. I think the homerun TD play was a bad call.
  9. Would have been more brilliant with 30 seconds on the clock.
  10. You can poo-poo sports and winning but without Sports what would the educational institutions look like.....probably just big, broke, on-line tech schools.
  11. How do other schools know which recruits to pay without any direction from the University? Intermediaries??
  12. It would take an entire year, maybe 18 months of FBS number of scholarships to catch up with the MAC!! I don't know if we're willing to wait that long.
  13. but, but.......Look at our compliance with Title IX, second to none!! Look at our team GPA!! And, our smart but cautious approach on NLI!!(needs more research) Plus, our coaches focus on the kids instead of getting bogged down on spending side money on outside motivational speakers with magic potions!!! We proudly strive to be average the right way!!
  14. Live Update from Fargo Radio this morning. A real comedian was on talking about NDSU football. Statements made- 1. 9-man football is the foundation of the NDSU O-line. Other than Mauch NDSU has one other freshman 9-man O-line that looks to be redshirting. (prideful talking point, but 4 out of 5 Pinocchios, 1 current starter out of 18-20 lineman is not a foundation) 2. More NFL scouts on Saturdays in Fargo than in Minneapolis. 2022 draft saw 4 Gophers and 2 Bison. Each has around 15 former players active, including practice squads. (to say more.........going to have to go with another 4 out of 5 pinocchios especially when factoring in the NFL scouts interested in players from opposing teams) 3. The FCS National Championship game is in Fargo this year, NDSU vrs SDSU. (just isn't true, 5 out of 5 pinocchios) 4. FCS football increasingly watered down when teams like James Madison leave. (0 out of 5 pinochios, actually been a trend for a long time, true statement) These cute talking points 1-3 get told over and over in Fargo, good for a laugh.
  15. Maag has had hammy issues in the past. I think at his best he's pretty fast and reports are his health is good right now. With his size he's probably moving faster than appears. Smith faster than Hoosman.
  16. By the numbers. Combined NDSU/Duquesne/Dayton numbers for the Penguin(Dirty Birds) QBs is 37 of 67 (55% completion) for 523 yards. Average completion is 14.14 yards. Average yards thru the air is 174 per those 3 games. NDSU is really good, Dayton is really "not so good" and Duquesne is somewhere in-between, probably closer to Dayton than NDSU. The Dirty Birds threw for 248 vrs Dayton, 154 vrs Duquesne, 121 vrs NDSU. (9 of 24 for 134 yards vrs Kentucky, but not putting too much into that game) I would like to think we can give up less passing yards than Duquesne (154) and that should bode well for us. Rushing yards for Dirty Bird's QB position is 32 vrs Dayton, 23 vrs Duquesne, and -3 vrs Bison. So, the QB isn't going to run around all day like NAU or be a threat like Mo. State. Also good news for us, que Sack City. I think we can contain their RB and not let him beat us. The game probably falls on Danny and the Offense putting up some points.

    Homecoming

Prolly looking at a 5-6 seed this season. Are the Bears the new UNI darling of FCS rankings?? We will see!!

    Homecoming

When we win in 2 days I am going straight to "being seeded" with "1st round bye", 100%.
  21. BUT........ 4.004 GPA. He could be Academic All-American with some hard work at study table. (comments totally not fair or targeted at this kid, just bashing the past trend)

    Homecoming

When we play like it's our Super Bowl we can play with and beat most any FCS team. But it's hard playing up to that level every week. Sometimes you have to be good enough to grind out wins when it's not your best performance or your team is not 10 out of 10 emotionally, and we are not at that level. 2-2 could be 0-4 and I don't think you can argue that we could be 4-0, even 3-1. All things considered I expect a big bounce back, 10 out of 10 effort and emotion, and expecting a big W. We are literally Tarzan at home and more like Jane on the road.
  23. How was that Eastern Washington athletic budget when he left? That probably wasn't #1 on his resume. Why make a lateral FCS move if you're Chaves, maybe to share his great hockey background? No wow factor besides staying awake at meetings. But luckily for the AD Interview committee you can always say, "Hey, at least I wasn't on the re-naming or branding committee"
  24. I always thought Chaves was a sketch hire, just another in a line of bad AD hires.
