  1. It is dumb sometimes how they vote on this. If he were a Senior and this team had same record, I have to assume (hate that word), he would be on there. But because he is an underclassman, they figure he will get on the list next year or the year after. Again, dumb logic, but...
  2. I understand this. Although, I am fairly certain no changes are going to be made this year. So, I look forward to watching the players we have next year. I also think, that despite what people believe, that this team will be greatly improved next year. Maybe, I'm "drinking the kool-aid", but I prefer to think positive. I truly believe that next years players will make an impressive run. If not, I would be willing to bet this thread wont be needed after the end of the season.
  3. Putting some consideration into last years team that graduated... Is it possible that some of the kids that transferred in were on UND's recruiting list. I know Carson Shanks was. I believe Estan Tyler was as well, but could check that for verification. Quentin Hooker was a great get, and I think this years Freshman class is going to prove to be superior (including Shanks). And next yea'rs class looks like it could be great as well. Some of the JUCOS that transferred in were on major colleges lists as well, as Nash was. Most of the time, JUCO kids are there for grades or bigger opportunities. And it doesnt always work out for them, or schools. I dont have an answer as to why Jones didnt recruit HS talent to fill in after last years group, other than maybe he did and didnt get them. So, then he got some JUCO kids. I still say this was a rebuilding year, as many people in the know have. I will side with those guys, as they generally are more informed than I am. He has young talent now ready for next year, after a bad down year. That is what a rebuilding year is.
  4. I cant comment on the marketing department, promotion and ticket packages for Fargo. But I would guess that has something to do with it. Seeing the marketing department in action for UND this fall for fanfest, I have to agree with you that they probably could not fill REA. But, I am going to still advocate for it. If the coaches believe in the team they have next year, then they should jump on board and try to help get it done.
  5. Improper? Maybe. Relevant? Absolutely! Can we get enough emails to the AD and President to get a change? I just wonder if they will take everyone's dissatisfaction into consideration and do something about it. I just see this admin holding still this year.
  6. I have "defended" Jones. And I'm sure there is a better coach out there. But will UND buy Jones out of his two year contract? And pay a new coach a higher salary? Oh, and getting a good coach to come here, can it happen? Do you trust the AD to make it happen? Then you have to consider transfers that could come about. I only say let him have another year because a player of Crandall's caliber and Seales, along with Hooker's continued development, can turn this program around in a hurry. But then you have a dilemma next year...
  7. gfhockey's cousin?
  8. not really. Some very nice high school gyms out there! Some are putting in video boards on walls. Seen a transportable one the other night.
  9. If that video is all it takes, I know some sites that will damn near kill you. or better yet... I remember when my girlfriend looked that good, then I married her! ba da bum. thank you very much
  10. Hey now there goes Grady just rumbling through The Bison wish they were The Fighting Sioux! (might be too soon, but maybe we can get better ones for UND home game)
  11. Serious talk? So few/no Bison fans?
  12. My point exactly! Its a game many have wanted to see for some time, on both sides! If you can sell a pair of tickets and pay for the rest of the season, some do it. And there will be plenty doing so.
  13. Funniest thing on here in some time!
  14. I'm all for this! Anything like this is a start in the right direction. If they promoted it and packaged it well, there is no reason you couldn't get a packed house. That goes a long ways in showing kids the commitment to building the program. Duke- different era Gonzaga- not long ago, they weren't much. They made run, got behind the program, and have grown from there. Also different area to recruit to. Things have changed in recruiting. Yes, a coach makes a big difference. But better facilities bring in better coaches. Miles went to Nebraska partly because of the facilities. I'm not asking to convert REA to share with Hockey permanently, it's not meant for basketball. Nor is it realistic. But can be done for some games
  15. UND/NDSU thread needed already?
  16. Capitalism rules. Plenty of NDSU ticket holders will sell their tickets, to a game that doesn't matter, to pay for the rest of their season tickets. They may sell to other NDSU fans, but plenty will go to UND fans, and they will make a profit. There is already a demand for tickets, it will continue to grow. But, keep living in your bubble, and enjoy the game that doesn't matter.
  17. Chicken or egg? Nebraska, Wichita St, VCU to name a few Facilities will get you coaches and players, which lead to winning. If you want to be a mid-major powerhouse, you have to draw the players consistently. Kids want facilities! IF UND wants to grow MBB, and its fans want to see MBB be successful, this is the easiest, quickest way to get results. I'm not advocating to make REA the main court. Get some games there though every year. Players will come to play in that arena! When we invest, usually we are rewarded. If we just sit back and stay with status quo, we get what we get. I believe UND could aim to recruit to BIG TEN talent that miss out on Iowa and Minnesota, even Wisconsin (think big). Screw competing for UNI, other Dakota schools, even other Big Sky schools. Be the program with the best facilities to play at and you dominate Big Sky Conference, and occasionally get a big name road win. But you have to start somewhere, and address other issues as well...
  18. How many times do we have to hear "this is not a rivalry game", or, "it's just another game" Yes, UND fans will be driving up the cost, as will NDSU fans. NDSU fans want to see their team beat UND. Maybe. It is THE hot ticket of the season
  19. You are absolutely right. But do we want better basketball program? Games at REA could be huge advantage. Yes there are other things that matter, some dealt with in other threads. As for kids, they want the glitz and glamour, give it to them. We will get the best players and become dominant. I honestly believe UND should be the school to attend if you aren't going to MN or other major. Its close, has good facilities, and great fans. Could have best facilities and no longer competing with anyone close for talent.
  20. Nodakhoops made great points above. It wouldn't take much to get the "great team" with the promise of playing there. Its a huge selling point, use it. You would have recruits from other schools wanting to come here and play. Why bother funding Hyslop rehab, or Betty upgrades when everything is right next door? Not every game should be at REA, but start with one, maybe 3-4 if the numbers work. And if everything goes good the first few times, continue and build from there.
  21. Then why bring the basketball recruits in and show them it? Telling them, we've played here before and want to again in the future? Only to end up playing at the Betty (I very much enjoy the atmosphere at the Betty) and seeing the discrepancy in facilities? It can be a BB facility.
  22. This thread has been quiet for awhile. Get your Shania tickets yet Mafia?
  23. Thats a big part of it, and the opponent. I would like to see multiple games there, I think the facilities are impressive and as someone has brought up, the bball players would like it, also making it easier to recruit better talent. However, I am just asking to get NDSU there for now, maybe a "rivalry" game a year (whatever other school from South Dakota when we travel to NDSU). Promote the hell out of it, give package deals for families and pack the place! Show the REA and the Athletic Department it can make money. Something we do all the time is just get people in the door. Once they are in, they usually spend more money on concessions. Which is where the money is made. ***too bad the %gobc member is not available to be called on to help with this :-) #freegfhockey
  24. I agree with this 100%. I would think you could get 5-6k in REA for NDSU. But, that would require Marketing and Athletics Department to think outside the box...
