  1. His recruiters have done a good job. Bring in Brewster?
  2. Dry, should have put smiley face. Was bad joke.
  3. Well, here where the coach should show what he can do. Terrible first half, can't believe how bad UND looks.
  4. Did he need to have redshirt pulled for the few minutes he has played? Hypothetically, if someone else were to go down and they needed him, then pull it. His minutes so far haven't justified it. Maybe they will come and I will be wrong, which I hope so. How about Crandall, Seales, and Shields? Throw in Shanks and Collins, that's one long, athletic lineup we looking at next year. re your question: a raw young player had tendency to be last on offense, and can force a defensive strategy change. Give me anyone to guard the 4, for the few minutes needed if there is a possibility of Krohn a young kid redshirted. Again, just my opinion, hope I'm wrong
  5. For the little amount of time that Shields has played tho, why bother. I would think they could get thru until Shanks was available. Hope Salmonson recovers.
  6. Can see the theory of using oil to bankrupt Russia. Sure handed way to deal with Putin. And I've wondered for the last few years with the US fuels boom, why we haven't gotten rid of OPEC and gone independent.
  7. If you don't want a name to be considered, go trademark it. Then it's off the list?Sounds like it's going to be a difficult "process" to find a new name unique to UND
  8. Love the line of simple questions... Er, simple questions?
  9. Two boards on opposite baselines would actually be cheaper anyway. Already emailed my thoughts and offers
  10. A case could be made for allowance of "Sioux"... If people wanted to fight for it. All the work involved tho, and the lawyering/lobbying would be expensive. Figure out a nickname majority can accept, or none. I like idea of three choices at a time until one has +50%. That seems best way to get to favorites at least. Maybe then have open vote. Whether there is or is not nickname tho, the sooner the better. Start true marketing avenue for UND. Ultimately, that's what it's about, $$$
  11. Leading scorer looked to be getting lost defensively in half court, and MN was accounting for him when he was on offense. More problematic was lack of size and defensive ability in post. That is going to be an issue. Overall tho, started well and players kept working most of game. Could tell they were getting tired tho. Work together becoming a team, get better, and go for next year...
  12. Who wouldn't want to watch a Baylor/TCU rematch tho? The Big 12 is going to get a championship game, because Texas/Oklahoma, don't want this problem to happen to them. It's even likely they expand to 6/8 teams in the tournament sooner than planned.
  13. Unfortunately, I heard same thing from few sources at the Breakdown. Basketball has a chance to be very successful, hopefully that line of thinking can change. Maybe the %GOBC can help to change that?...
  14. Hopkins High School has video board and banner. Just saying...
  15. Sorry please delete that^^^. I posted in correct thread
  16. DeLaSalle, MN (Josh Collins) vs North Scott, IA (Cortez Seales) De 29 - NS 35 Half De 64- NS 67 Final Josh Collins 3pt-5/9, 2pt-1/2, 17pts. After two misses from behind the arc, he ran off three in a row, missed another, and made a fourth before the half ended. Likes the corner. His fifth three came in the final minute of the game when De was down six, pulled up and drained it. Defensively played very physical in post when needed, and got low and wide when defending outside, was quite fast laterally. Good all around game. Cortez Seales 3pt-2/2, 2pt-8/10, FT-7/7 29pts (15 first half). Wow! Player of the Game. De upped the defensive pressure in second half and it was getting to his team. De tied the game and he put his team on his back. When they needed a score he went to his move, also three times in a row. Left wing or elbow, drive to the block and finished with the ball going off left side glass and in. Always against a defender, sometimes two. He did not finish right, he actually missed one of his shots on right side trying to finish left, but he didn't need to go that way, he was just so strong with the ball. Defensively, he also defended the post well when needed, banging in the paint. Top side defense was very good, creating a couple turnovers and getting a block straight up on a drive from his guy. Rebounded very well also, attacking the rim and going up strong and grabbing it. Both players look to be very nice additions to the basketball program with different styles of play.

  18. The issue with facilities is not the arena itself. It is the locker room, (access to snack & drinks, as well as area to hang out). Also, training table, and as has been pointed out, the scoreboard and scorer's table. These things help bring in recruits and keep them. I believe UND can be very successful in MBB for a number of reasons, but it's hard to recruit without the amenities players look for. It's just the world we live in today. It really hurts when they showcase the Ralph to the recruits. The players tend to think MBB is second rate. Granted the Ralph should be everything it is, but basketball players believe they have a chance to be at the top there and want to see that program get some upgrades.
  19. Jones>Mussman. Hes been to postseason. He does good job recruiting. Get him more money to get better coaches, and get him better amenities then it will be easier to get better ball players here. The better players you get, the easier it is to coach them. Hes getting them now. Give him, and them some time to grow together. Note: gfhockey, you are dating yourself, there are no blue light specials anymore. So the question is, are you qualified to talk basketball? There are updates to the game as well; the three point line, you can dribble from baseline to baseline without a pass, you can even dunk the ball and touch the rim. Simple question :-)
  20. Great points sir. To add to that... The guys last year did a great job in the Big Sky, maybe even excelling. Thank them for the transition and competing at the highest level. But if they didnt do fundamental/team things right, it has to be put on them. You cant force a player to boxout, thats something players choose to do, and fewer of them now. They prefer to rely on their athleticism, to their detriment. Same as passing and playing team ball, some guys will do it for while, but will revert to themselves occassionally and you will lose movement of the ball in the offense. Onto the current players. I think we've seen more of a willingness to play team ball. It is just going to take awhile for them to learn to pkay together and for everyone to figure out their role (I.e. who is going to takeover when needed). With the last couple recruiting classes and next years, I know Coach Jones has done a good job of bringing in a higher quality player. If he can get the help and support he needs, imagine how much easier it would be for him to get higher level kids. Stop riding him, give him 2-3 years with the new group of guys, then assess his ability to coach in game. Supposed to he rough year, right? I would dare say, its not so bad right now from what weve seen
  21. Is it possible to be just SIOUX? Why not communicate with both tribes and ask to honor the history and heritage of the state? Offer scholarships to academically eligible native students. (Not as payoff, but as way to show gratitude and willingness to work with the tribal members) Before every home game, or halftime, use time to talk of the history of the state and tribes. Also instruct students, and community what is acceptable in display of team pride. I dont want anything like FSU. Use the name to educate. Occasionally, maybe homecoming, few hockey, basketball, and other games, allow tribes to be showcased. Let them choose how/what they want to display. How could the NCAA deny that? Maybe its absolutely impossible, and I'm sure someone will educate me here. But, if its important to majority to keep name in some way, there should be way to get it done.
  22. One of the task force leaders is a marketing firm executive? So, Mr. O'Keefe is going to bring all sorts of data, saying how UND has to be rebranded sooner than later, in order to bring dollars in from licensing the new name, and selling everything related to it. Seems odd. Maybe he is impartial, but I havent found many people with stakes in other issues, to be accepting of differing points of view from their own
  23. Excellent point Sicatoka! Hypothetical: If any ethnic name were chosen, say the "Fighting Norse", I could see ways that could be construed as offensive. 1. Not honoring the heritage and original tenants of the state. 2. People of Nordic heritage could find it offensive, that they are portrayed as fighting group. And if they/we become a minority then all hell could break loose. Obviously, this is in jest, good or poor. But this whole "process" is a joke. And a bad one. I still say there has to be a way to come to a conclusion as a community and pick a name, or not, before one is bestowed upon us from idiots above
