I think he will be a backup at least. Hopefully he gets some starts this year

Yeah likely don't see him starting, but hopefully gets at least some live action this year even in backup duty.

Boise State game at 11am CT on FS1

Ugh that sucks. Just booked my flight up there yesterday. Staying at a friend's cabin Thursday and Friday night....driving in to Boise Saturday morning.....won't even be able to tailgate.......that blows!

  3. I would also like to go back to solid green top and readable numbers. As for helmet my choice would be white.  I've come to like the logo on the side of the helmet.

Silver helmet would be a bit of a retro look....just not sure how good it would look...but maybe it would. I think white helmet with green facemask and possibly green stripe would pop. Could have a home white out game with white pants, top, and helmet.

I know the grey pants with those green tops we had did not look good, but think if you had the right grey pants and top with a white helmet that could look good. Ok now I'm rambling....

  4. Given Montana was a top FCS team and and loves to primarily run the ball.....can see why he chose there, but sucks. Given how well Hoos did here after transferring, would think we'd look like a good option for a RB who is transferring. Hopefully we can land a good transfer yet to get some depth.

Not a fan of YSU.  I'm sure they will lose 3 for sure.  They might beat the yotes.  But they have to play all the games.  A very favorable schedule for YSU.

I meant I could see how the YSU fan who posted they will go 9-2 could see that possibility given their schedule.

Would be very surprised if the Huskers and Rhule let him leave.

Finally watched his hudl, definitely was fun to watch. I think you are probably right.

  7. When do single game tickets go on sale. The flight is looking cheap.....so wanting to fly up for the NDSU game if am able to get tickets. Two SU buddies went to the last game in GF and were able to get tickets somehow.

Absolutely, Rudy didn't help him out at all. JJ just never showed the flash that someone like Oliveira did, and I'll only compare those two because they were the heavier bruiser type backs. Oliveira seemed to have more speed and could drive forward with contact. I always felt like JJ was to vertical when he ran and couldn't get any leverage on guys. A guy that size you be pretty automatic in 3rd or 4th and 1 situation and just wasn't overly impressed. But to your point, he (along with the majority of that offense) was never utilized well.

I agree with you.  However if my memory serves me right, which it doesn't always, I'd say Brady definitely had more power.....but JJ had better speed...at least top end speed.  I remember game where JJ had a huge hole off the left side.....and took it around 75 yards to the house untouched....and nobody caught him once he broke through that hole.  If that was Brady.....I think a DB would have probably caught him.  Brady was really want to watch though, and if I had to take him or JJ I would take Brady.

They win some of the time, if they have good coaching - like you said, but the teams with the top talent and best facilities win most of the time.

    Totally agree.

I'm asking you seriously, do you actually follow baseball? I think it's fucking incredible how MLB is actively telling their fans that they don't like the game like it's been played for... a long fucking time.

No I don't follow baseball all that closely these days actually.   I will rephrase my comment......"Baseball needed shorter games" to....I can see why the decided to do it......as games did often drag out and get long.   I'm sure they will analyze it after the season and maybe make some adjustments.  Sure as a baseball purist I can see why you might hate it.  But the shot clock in basketball sure make the game more fun to watch, and if baseball can cut out 20-25 minutes of the batters adjusting their nuts and helmet between pitches...might not be a bad thing.

Sounds simple; just win. But a lot more goes on behind the scenes than “just win”. UND isn’t consistently beating NDSU until UND football is taken more seriously by its own athletic department, fans, and supporters.  UND-NDSU in the division I era has been completely one sided. The 2021 contest that was close on the scoreboard only showcased how inept the brain trust leading UND football right now is.

It is...and it isn't as simple as just winning.  You see teams with lesser talent and lesser facilities win all the time.  Did we have a huge change in facilities and money/support for UND football from 1985 to 1993, when we went from dogs.....to beating NDSU?  The coaches got it done.  Weber used to be the whipping boy of the Big Sky....they got a new coach and boom they turned it around.  Not sure if they had any major change in football funding at that time, maybe they did I don't know.  Obviously for long term success we need to improve our facilities etc. etc. etc..  But the coaches and team need to find away to beat NDSU....this year.  Beat them two years in a row......then a kid who gets recruited by both schools....starts to consider UND, you start getting better players.....it starts snowballing.

  12. There is absolutely no reason, in my mind anyway, that at a minimum we can't get back to the crowd size, interest, and passion in the community and state for UND football as we did in the early 2000's regardless of what hockey does.  Just win baby.......particularly beat SU....and it will start to come back.  We did it before, we can do it again.

New rules for 2023: No clock stoppage after first downs. Some expect it will take seven plays out of the game.

Why change something that wasn't broken, I don't get it.  Baseball needed shorter games.......football no.

I specifically asked about this last year when there were some noon football games. My push was to move those Saturday hockey games back an hour to 7pm and start the football game at 1pm as a sort of compromise. For a variety of reasons, some I agree with and some I don't, I would expect them to stay at 12pm for football and 6:07pm for hockey on doubleheader weekends.

This makes perfect, and dare I say common sense.  Could maybe even do a 1:30 football kickoff if the hockey game started at 7.   Since there is common sense involved with a compromise like this, it likely won't happen.

At least we won the game last season vrs NAU but we were lucky as heck.  Danny was off, like way off most of the game and were toast before Bo made a ridiculous play or two and some trickeration.  What we do have going is we play much better at home.

    TEAM STATS             UND    NAU

    1st Downs                     19      28

    3rd down efficiency   3-11  9-16

    Total Yards                 318     448

    Passing yards            206     324

    Comp-Att                  21-33   33-48

    Rushing                        112     124

    Rushing Attempts         25      35

    Possession                 31:15     28:45

Dang those stats were pretty ugly last year, looking at those.....you would have figured we would have lost.  We do play much better at home though like you said.  Also hoping that our OL is one year more experienced and better than last year, which hopefully means even when we aren't fully on....if we can consistently get good chunks of yards on the ground.....which resolve a lot of issues.  Hope our OL is rolling early in the season, and they are still trying to gel with all of their new starters.  I'm still expecting a win, but it's not going to be a gimme.

I hope I am way off, but I think UND will be 3-3 at best after 6 games in the fall. Losses at Boise St. and South Dakota St. And a loss against NDSU.

You are really going way out on the limb there, since 95% of FCS teams would go 0-3 against Boise St, SDSU and NDSU.

We are beating NDSU this year. I didn't think we were going to beat them going into any of our previous games, but in 2021 I had fall of 2023 circled as I was thinking Feeney was going to lead us to a win at home, but turns out it's going to be Schuster... which is ok with me.  We are taking them down this year!

I don't know how likely SDSU is as Gronowski will be the guy for the next 2 years barring an injury.  I can't see Knuth transferring to SDSU needing an injury to the starter to have a path towards that.  USD is definitely a possibility as the last time they were actually relevant was when they started a Minnesota castoff.  The starting job would definitely be in play for him there.

Bauman looked pretty good starting for USD towards the end of the year last year and I think he likely has 3 years left.  Although he certainly isn't entrenched as the for sure starter as much as Gronowski would be if he transferred there.   May just come down to if he wants to play right away, or be playing in December in January when he does play.
