He didnt have to come here, so if he did, he wanted certain things to be in place so he could do it his way, taking from things he has learned at other programs. So you think they told him, ok sure we will improve nutrition etc. etc., but here is the thing Eric, you dont have total control of your coaching staff, you have to get approved from us before you can hire or fire certain staff. Not that I want to, but I'm ok if we give up some points late with the second team when we are up big. Get those guys some needed reps like you said. But the 3rd quarter the last two games hasn't been good. OC should maybe script his first 6-8 plays of the 2nd half, we keep going 3 and out.

Well it's a good thing Schmidt didn't let them go. Fruechte does deserve some of the blame for not getting Jerry in more last year IMO, and he also admitted it. Nice to see a coach admit something, tbey often don't. It's also the HC's final call who starts at QB, and last year that was Bubba.
The offense has been good this year, the OL has been good, we've got depth. Plus I think from a players standpoint, probably good to keep a couple coaches around to provide a little consistency during the transition. If Schmidt didnt want them, then Im sure he would have made the switch and got someone he wanted.
While the offense has been good, still areas for improvement for sure. Don't get a lot of push up the middle when we get deep into the red zone, which has also caused our red zone to struggle. 8 different receivers catching a pass per game has been a thing of beauty though. Defense cannot key on just one or two players
