i guess the question is did moving to summit/mvfc/midcon/gateway conference increase demand for tickets for new/returning siouxfans or did the increase come from visiting fans of closer fan bases....brookings, fargo, vermillin?
My guess it's a mixture of both. It helps playing Teams you feel like you know....and or dislike. When we played Montana State or Montana at home a few years ago I believe the attendance was always higher for those and it wasn't all due to their fans traveling. The Montana game next year I'm sure will have pretty good attendance. I hate and want to beat Montana as bad or maybe even more as I do NDSU. Team performance and having a strong and fun team to watch is the most important thing I think though. Need to build momentum this year and continue it going forward.

Labor Day weekend and 80-90 degree temps. An opponent we should beat by 40+…I’ll say under, unfortunately.
Yeah a lot of kids gone over the long weekend, people at the lake for probably the last time of the summer. Hopefully turn out is still good.

That's a great schedule overall. BYE week following a trip to Fargo is huge.
Agree, you couldn't have drawn that schedule up any better if you wanted to! Definitely will be nice to have Montana at home. Will need to win that one for us, and the MVFC in general, that will be a big game.

Danny Freund is good coach. He’s the coach of the future (and present) as of now.
Just my opinion at this point …
I agree with you on this one as well. Glad he was named Associate HC and can start playing a bigger role now and can be seen as the next head coach....hopefully not in the too distant future.

Asking for a friend in Fargo that talks about 3 qb's in the NFL in the same time period Danny's has been at UND?
And what have you done that's warranted your opinion to be better than his, have you been at every practice this year also? Have you been to one? What's the highest level you played QB at?
Danny was WR coach I believe while Rudy was here. Look at the QB room now. We had a good commit that left last minute for FBS, picked up Schuster. Quincy was supposed to be good recruit, had FBS offer. Feeney highly thought of, now Kaminski. And Schuster is better than you give him credit for.
Danny just recruited a guy who as a true freshman, you think is better than a watchlist finalist. I think Danny must be doing something right.

UND-FB-FAN.......the thing is most of us doing mind constructive criticism because it has taken much longer to get where we are an still quite a ways to go. I'm ok with some things being questioned and what not. But the volume of negative stuff over and over gets so old, it's multiple times on the daily. You position yourself perfectly to be the I told you so guy if we lose or something goes wrong. And your comment the other days about...."how about we try and win them all". I mean really, you don't think the rest of us want to try and win them all, c'mon. I would probably say more negative stuff from time to time, but I don't have too because you've probably already said it ten times that day.
I mean the season is about to start and it's a great time of the year, but the board is a sh*t show right now....it's barely even enjoyable.

they showed a few bad ones of fenney
Which I wouldn't be surprised if a year or two ago you were calling for, or wondering if he should start. I know last year a couple of games into the season you had some thoughts that maybe Romfo should start because he could run better.

The 360 guys said Beach may play DE at times, particularly if teams try to just drop the plow. Also the FBS transfer has a lot of experience and he has the size needed, they can also put him in at DE if teams are trying to run all over us or going two TE's. Plus we have a dude at NG.....25 lbs heavier than we've had the past couple of years. I think we will be improved on the DL this year.
Fort started for us at Safety last year right? Buckner is starting over him....so I take that as a good sign and Buckner may be who we were hoping he would be.
Excited to see what Pedigo and McNeal can do at ILB.

But may I request better outcomes from 40 yards plus? Does that come with a Happy Meal?
No doubt, when is the last time we made a FG over 45 yards. In the last 3-4 years....wonder if we've made more than 3 FG's from 45 or more. Lately a 42 yard FG feels like a 52 yard FG.

hakim with a nice catch/bomb on the twitters....who threw it?
That was a perfect ball..... hopefully we see those two hooking up on a lot of connections in the future. But will only be in mop up duty this time unless there are injuries, hoping not.

I think this is most probable, and as such I think 8-3 happens with a home playoff win and second round playoff loss (1-1 in playoffs like spring 2021). Some may call that a good season, but with the amount of seniors on this team, I don’t see how that is true progress. I would call that status quo, and this team/program under Bubba would remain years away from anything close to a championship.
Bottom line, next step for this team is 2 playoff wins, and I think beating Boise or SDSU shows the team is capable of that (both to us as fans but also to the team themselves).
I'd say most of us agree with you, one win and then a playoff loss would be frustrating as hell and would not be progress. Want more than that.

Hopefully we can pull off an upset against SDSU, but win or lose.......my expectations are we give them a better game than #3 Montana State does.

I predict we go undefeated this season....and roll through the playoffs and not only win them all, but win them all by 2-3 scores and we roll in Frisco with a 20 point win. There, now I'm a true winner.
P.S. And no city sidewalks get pissed on in Frisco after our victory.

Sounds like Skokna is 100 percent back to himself. Hopefully we can get some nice punt returns this year.

My bad I was off a little, it was 7 of the first 9 plays were runs...pretty much up the middle. But we were getting 7 yards at a crack so why not. It's on YouTube. And the two pass plays were short passes never going more than 5 yards passed the LOS.
Paterka's FG then got blocked on that first drive. Special Teams failure. You know what happens when a kick gets blocked now days..... immediately fire Kostich.

Some times the good ole days....aren't as good as we think they were. I watched the UC Davis game a year or two ago, I think we ran Jed 7 straight times up the middle to start the game or something like that. We only scored 14 points that game too....at home in the dome in perfect conditions. Not saying we weren't a good team, we won it all so we were obviously very good. But even then our offense wasn't lighting things up when we were up against a really good defense. The game in general now is much more wide open though. Our offense now is probably about as exciting to watch as it's ever been. Should be fun watching this year with an experienced OL.

I think almost under any scenario a 7-4 record will be somewhat of a disappointing regular season, IMO. I could see us beating NDSU but then tripping up against USD. Would be huge to get the NDSU monkey off our back, but that would still feel pretty unexciting, losing to USD towards end of season and killing momentum and building confidence in our program, both internally to our fan base and to the rest of the FCS.
If we made a deep playoff run after that, that would change things. But it would have to be making it into the semi-finals and/or beating one for the top 5-6 seeds or something. We need to take the next step this year!

It would be one of the the Best FCS seasons ever for us; it likely means we beat at least one of BSU, SDSU, NDSU, or UNI. A good step to take, for sure. Personally, I think we have the guns to get at least one more.
If we upset SDSU that will single handedly ruin the perception of the MVFC, they will think the conference has gotten week. I hope we do pull the upset but I can just hear all of the Big Sky teams chirping if that happens.
I think one of the biggest games this year will be the Montana State and SDSU game. I hope SDSU destroys MSU again so if we do pull off the upset, or even if we don't, it will show the quality of the MVFC.

My prediction this year is we go 8-3. Losses to Boise St, SDSU, and UNI. This has got to be the year we beat NDSU. The game at USD will be a grind it out game like it always is down there, but gotta win that one.

From Miller's article the other day. Would be nice if Klein can stay healthy and become a red zone weapon on those lob passes. Sounds like it's been pretty successful so far in camp.
- Redshirt freshman corner Antonio Bluiett broke up a Tommy Schuster lob pass to 6-foot-6 Elijah Klein — one of the rare times the Schuster lob to Klein has been unsuccessful at camp.
I think the transfer at NG who goes 315 is really going to help on short yardage situations. He brings 25 more lbs of beef than the other NG's. Even on non short yardage plays if he can bull rush and take up two OL guys at times....that will be huge. The other DL transfer being bigger also will help.

haha, Wasn't it Brad Heidlebaugh? I only remember seeing him really throw a few passes, and one was just a complete duck. I feel like he transferred out, but don't remember where he went, and have no clue if he ever ended up seeing the field anywhere.
If I recall he came in when we were on like the 3 yard line on 3rd down and he floated a complete duck......and Wanzek made a great catch to save the TD.

You are the only one wondering. But let's remember you were kinda thinking that Kaminski as a true freshman might start over the Walter Payton watchlist finalist. Your posts are usually spot on.

2023 Football Season

It will be interesting to see how well Quincy does at TE. Definitely a big change going from QB and trying to avoid contact to now having to be a physical blocker on the line. Not sure if he ever played WR or how his hands are. He certainly has the size for the position....will be interesting to watch.
