Anyone recall about 20 years ago when NDSU came out with that 'scream yellow' campaign? It was an epic failure and hilarious to UND fans, who referred to it as Stream Yellow. There were even news stories about it mentioning how much they spent on this failure of a campaign. But they actually had the vision down there to just scrap it, despite what it cost because they realized the long-term damage of stubbornly keeping it and trying to force it on people would be greater than what it cost. I feel our logo situation is quite similar. Hopefully those in charge at UND have some vision and make a change sooner rather than later. Or as mentioned earlier, do a secondary logo. Immediately.

Sure, most of those look fine. I recall back then, some people commented they did not want a cartoonish looking bird. My feeling was we had already jumped in the pit of lame bird names, might as well have gone all the way. Our current logo is what you get if you don't go cartoonish. In other words, bland, boring, black paper hole punch for eyes, no color and no expression.

I've read every nickname discussion on here and don't recall anything other than the SME self congratulatory award. Maybe Darell can investigate.

I would be curious to see which unbiased sources ranked it high. I recall reading on here a few months ago it won an award given out, but it was an award within SME. Which is sorta like my mom saying my 5th grade art class drawings were really really good.

It's always been one of my main arguments. Along with it being an award. And a sucky name. But I couldn't care less if other area schools had the name.

I'm just thankful we're not the Roughriders. Whew dodged a bullet there!
