  1. This is sometimes used as the carrot to get these guys to sign. Particularly with teams that are having down years. Hopefully Shane goes on to a successful career. Based on rumors for most of the season, it sounds like he has had his mind made up for quite awhile. I sensed the same thing from Luke Johnson his last year at UND. Interesting that both were 5th round draft picks.
  2. Adams leaving or staying is going to depend upon what the coaches tell him where he needs to do to improve his game and how much he buys into it. The talent is definitely there for him to be a major contributor and if he is committed to what the coaches tell him, I see no reason why he will not get plenty of ice time next season. In some respect, I would see the say thing happening for MM. Once the light bulb goes on for these 2 freshmen, I see both of them being major contributors in the future.
  3. Hoping it works out well for Shane. Maybe the Caps system is more conducive to his style of play. Living in AZ, I remember how much hype there was here for Hextall when he signed early with the Coyotes. That didn't work out very well but hopefully Shane's career goes well.
  4. If Gersich returns the line of Gardner, JJ, and Gersich looks like a #1 line on most teams. Line of MM, Gooch, and Jones has alot of top end ability.
  5. Every persons situation is different. I just think players need to be cautious and not over anxious to grab the bonus when they may be better off in the long run to be patient. If you are a first or second round pick, it is unrealistic to expect that person to stay 4 years. Borgstrum to me looks ready. Not so sure on Tufte. Many who thought they were ready found out too late that they weren't quite there yet. Maybe they are content with playing 4-5 years in the AHL.
  6. In the grand scheme of things, it isn't really that large. Need to look long-term. At this point, barring injury, a player should improve in each year. Unless you are a high draft pick, I would think a player would be better potentially being a free agent where he can pick the team that gives him the best opportunity and also potentially create multiple teams that would like his services, thus creating somewhat of a bidding war. Most people however are too enticed by the cash that they are offered today.
  7. Brad's article on Wolanin, Gersich, Gardner and Poolman hopefully is considered by each of these guys in their decision process. Pretty telling that 75 percent of those that weren't first or second round draft picks that left early in the past 2 years have yet to play a single game in the NHL. Some never will. They need to use all the leverage they have available and not make a hasty and bad emotional decision. Hopefully talking to some of their ex-teammates.
  8. I know he performed below expectations, but would not be surprised and fully expect Mismash to take a big step forward next year. He definitely has the talent as his high draft status confirms. Part of development is learning what it takes to be a professional and as he matures hopefully the light bulb will come on. In regards to Gersich, he probably should talk to Caggiula. Part of the difficult decisions these young men have to make is there is no going back. Go too early and you may never realize your dream of playing in the NHL. The Sioux have alot of players that are in the NHL but there are alot more who went early never to realize their dream.
  9. Wow, reading some of these posts you would think we are destined to be the Cleveland Browns of college hockey. Disappointing season to say the least but far from as bad as some people make it. Injuries to Gardner, Jones, Bast, etc. definitely had a big effect on our pairwise predicament. We are far from needing to clean house. Couple of breaks and things would be much different.
  10. Would have to believe that if Gardner returns he would have strong consideration to be a captain.
  11. I don't think it was lack of effort. This team just does not have enough finishers. Team skated with SCSU but passing was erratic and players were never seldom in position to get off a decent shot when pass was either behind them or they had to stretch to bring it in.
  12. It is not beyond the realm of possibility that we win 2 games at the Frozen Faceoff. First things first however is to take care of business this weekend with Omaha. If we do what we are capable of, the pairwise will take care of itself. Just WIN BABY WIN!!
  13. Have to think at least Hoff was dinged up. Hopefully day-to-day. No idea about Adams not playing the entire weekend. I thought Peski was playing solid hockey so maybe something there too.
  14. My thoughts exactly. Although it has been frustrating, this team can match up with anybody when healthy. The Denver and St. Cloud series were toe to toe. Have to play the entire 60 minutes and quit taking stupid penalties.
  15. Could also be those who point fingers or create problems and friction with teammates. You either are part of the problem or part of the solution.
  16. Well if there are you probably can write their names off from having any successful career in the future. Unless you are a superstar, which we don't have, the other options these individuals will have will be reduced substantially. Potential suitors won't want to deal with that drama.
  17. Hoping Januatuinin is not far behind to be at full strength.
  18. Agreed, additionally when he is in the lineup it moves Jones down to the second line and improves the team exponentially. Also believe that not having JJ available was substantial. He had really picked up his game. Hopefully we can get healthy for next week and whatever follows. If we have everybody available, I don't think teams will want to see us in their bracket. Have to get to the dance first.
  19. We make every goaltender each week look like hobey Baker finalists
  20. So explain to me if Coach Shaw's specialty is the power play why ours is so pathetic?
