With Sandy's record of late, you would think some team in the NHL would come calling.

University of North Dakota Hockey 2019-20 Season

A big reason for the dropoff in power play production was the loss of Wolanin as he had 8 of our 37 PP goals and to a lesser extent, Gersich who had 5. This past year, we had nobody that scored more than 3 PP goals of our total of 21. If Mismash can stay healthy at the same time as getting more accuracy on his shots he should certainly improve on his numbers. Same for Gooch. -
Talk about a player that has not developed. I was more impressed with him as a freshman than I am now. He looks to be regressing.

I don't think our entire hopes rest with the freshman class. Hain and Senden's futures look promising. Same goes for Gooch as he goes into his 3rd year. Hopefully Mismash stays healthy and he has the type of year that I believe he is capable of. Adams and Weatherby are question marks. We have had players in the past that didn't really figure it out until their later years. With the amount of time that Jones was hurt this past year and Gardner, in my opinion not a first line center, we hopefully see improvement in that position. -

According to what I can find, JJ played in 14 of our 37 games this season. The number of games would not disqualify him because he played in less than 50% of the games. However, he played on Jan. 4 against Canisius which was our 19th game of the season and thus the start of our second half which disqualified him. -

Playing in that game by my understanding would have disqualified him. A lot of ifs ands, and buts for this past season. -

Not sure when the last game took place that he played, but he may be eligible to apply for an extra season. My understanding is that if he played less than 50% of the games and did not play in the second half of the season, he could possibly be allowed to play another season. -

Smaby was a defenseman so not sure of his offensive prowess as far as coaching. -

The inability for this team to score is exasperating. For the power play to be as bad as it is, is unacceptable. I think the ineffectiveness of the power play affects the mindset of the rest of their offensive game. Shaw's system may have worked in the pros but it is clearly not working at the college level. Our talent isn't that bad to be near the bottom at the college level. -
Assume that Mismash will be back in the lineup next week. Who will sit? Adams has had some good looks and is definitely more skilled than Johnson. I think Weatherby is getting close to breaking out and will be a force next year.
-
The AD will take it seriously when crowds start dwindling like they are at Minn. If scoring continues to be a problem and our PP continues to be this bad, a big hit to revenue will follow.
-
If you are Denver or Western Michigan they would probably prefer to play UND than CC.
-
Agree, the way the program is heading may be time to clean house. No excuse that we should be this inept offensively. We are no longer even in the top half of our league.
-
Don’t think we are scaring too many teams out there when you can only score one or on a good night 2 goals.
-
So Yon with 1 goal and no assists has the best wrist shot on the team? And Casey Johnson with 2 goals and 1 assist is our key on the PP? Mystifying if Adams isn’t hurt why he isn’t in the lineup.
-
Pretty much the story of the season.
-
I don’t think it is entirely lack of talent. The last 2 years our best hope of scoring has been either Wolanin or this year one of our other defensemen. Since Boeser left none of our forwards have been able to be a consistent threat. Some of it has to be scheme. NHL scouts didn’t pick Mismash as high as they did because they thought he had no talent. None of the other draft picks on the team can score on a consistent basis either. Last year I expected more scoring out of Gersich. To have as pathetic of power play that we have had the last 2 years ,I refuse to believe we are in the bottom 10% in talent. Have to look at scheme and what they are doing is not working.

I think the players and coaches all care. That is not the issue. As the season has gone on, more and more frustration sets in and as frustration mounts that is when stupid penalties occur and players make mistakes trying to do too much. As much as we the fans are frustrated, I am sure the team is too. That being said, having players out like Jones, Mismash and even JJ makes the tasks doubly hard as we are thin enough at the forward position.
-
Odds of this happening are pretty much nonexistent. Miami is not going to sweep WMU and more than likely we split with Omaha. Pretty hard to go on a run when scoring 2 goals is considered an offensive outburst.
-
How much time is left?
-
JJ and Hoff have definitely not met expectations. Adams is getting better and hopefully with another year of getting stronger can breakout. Like the Freshmen group of Senden, Weatherby, Hain, Keane, JBD, JT and Scheel. Hoping that Mismash and Scheel aren't out into next season. Definitely hopeful that next years incoming class is better than what is leaving. From a scoring standpoint, can't be much worse.
-
Crucial to take care of business these next 2 weekends. If we are able to win the first round of Nchc, that I would think that would be significant to our pairwise ranking. Win 1 game in St. Paul as long as it isn't against Miami, Omaha or CC and things will be interesting. If we scew up and split or lose any of these next 4 games, likely wondering the lines for next season.
-
If he lost 20-25 lbs, I doubt he, the Dr's or the coaching staff would want or permit him to play until he at least gets back to closer to the strength he had before the injury. He may feel great now, but regained strength may take some time.

Any word if Poolman and/or JJ have any chance of returning anytime in the near future?
