Cmon, we're not necessarily talking just missing "open nets". We're also talking creativity to create chances, make space, etc. necessary in order to score. To some degree over time/down the line it ultimately will fall on the coach, fair or not, as the result over time is what it is--the W-L record. Your team consistently wins their games more often than not (which means players are finishing and getting goals necessary to outscore the other team), vs the opposite, then you have a job still (or you move up).

Well, yah, the media...but 3 days late. Today's Herald pg 3 sports headline was UND rallies in 3rd period to beat UAA. Laughed when I saw that, why even bother printing it, let alone headline it.
-
Like, finishing skills...way too few goals for how many SOG we get in many games the last few years.
-
Hmm... No telling why she left U Conn but now it appears she's no longer with UND (would be interesting to know why), correct? I assume her time is done here? If so, academic issues or what?
-
Uhh, wasn't he talking UND hockey?
-
Yup, considering our schedule (very favorable) there's no way we should of mucked it up and not been in the playoffs. In the BSC, of the 4 top teams (all made the playoffs) we only played 1 of them (Weber St) and that was at home. Stating the obvious on this board but UND really butchered it against the teams finishing in the middle/lower of the BSC.

Good points, I hope you're right...and you might be.

Hah! Ya know, call a spade a spade. We are what we are, maybe a slightly above average team (based on there being like 61 or so NCAA div 1 hockey teams), which will be frustrating to fans as at times we'll look like world-beaters while at other times we'll look like Ala-Huntsville, Alaska-Anchorage, etc (the best of the worst, the worst of the best). That means it will be a real dogfight/challenge to get into the NCAA tourney (which I don't think we will for the 2nd straight season under coach Berry) unless we get hot at seasons end and win the NCHC post-regular season tourney title to gain the auto qualifier.

Well, JJ can't finish so JJ wouldn't score...in hockey...

I honestly think Univ Of Manitoba Bison team is every bit as good or better than UAA. If we tie or lose Sat night though then this weekend is a disaster, despite the win tonight. I'm by no means a great hockey mind and happy we won of course but It's almost hard to say if we played well tonight and finally were able to finish chances as UAA are what they are. And will either one of our goalies finish with a .900+ save percentage, which is almost the norm anymore, isn't it? -
UND (3-1) vs Concordia (NE) (4-3) 11/20 7 PM
GDPritch replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
I would not red-shirt him, or any player with decent potential, at our level as he likely won't be around for his 4th season. If he develops into a good player there's the risk /chance he will just graduate transfer out anyhow 3 years later down the road. We did the same with Crandell... -
How the heck has she managed to keep her scholarship? She's a "shooter", a long-range one at that, but her shooting percentage has been nothing but disappointing over the 3+ seasons. I believe her defense, rebounding, play-making, etc. are nothing special, surprised she's still able to be on the team. Coming out of FF, I had her becoming a 3 point/long range scorer by her junior season for UND but that just hasn't happened.

Ironic. Indeed, who would of thunk?

Huh? I think his post was talking about this season, not that hard to figure out.

Huh? I'm not a great hockey by any means but what's this loss got to do with Thome? At best, with UND going scoreless, it's a scoreless draw at the end of the 3rd period. -

I was at the game tonight, end the Sioux shoot at twice, you stated it perfectly. And then especially in the 3rd period when we had any good chances we didn't even put them on effin goal (hence the SOG narrowed significantly by games end). -

Looks like another effin "hot opponent goalie" again. My God, Bowling Green, Ferris State and Omaha put goals on this team but we have 8 NHL picks and can't sniff a goal. Yoy. -
Great point, agree. To even contend for the conf title this season UND most likely needs to sweep W Mich, CC, Omaha & Miami when they play them at home (not sure they play all four of them this season at home?). Denver, Min-Duluth & St Clown would be tough to sweep even at home but UND probably needs to do that against at least one of those three at the Ralph I would think cus they more than likely ain't going to sweep any of those three on the road (split at best and that's no given). Finishing in 4th place in the NCHC will likely be a dogfight this season for UND. Odd, for many seasons/year after year we were always contending for conf titles or top two or three but that certainly hasn't been the case these past few season. Hmm...

NORTH DAKOTA VS miami GAMEDAY THREAD ( SATURDAY)

Yup. We have too many draft picks at forward who can't finish/scored in good numbers at pre-UND level but can't at the college level. -
But it's not just the band, oftentimes it's the piped in music.
