I hear you and I'm not optimistic but sure do hope I'm wrong. I hate to be Nancy Negative but I think it's a challenge against a not very good Omaha team (just looking at their record but are probably better than Canisius) to gain a split on the road. Hell, we had to go twice to overtime at home no less just to beat a not very good CC team. Plain and simple that's where this team is now, like it or not it's who we are/reality. Prove me wrong, please.

That sure puts it in perspective (comparison). My oh my, how our offense has certainly slipped big-time these last few season. With our program status, that simply shouldn't happen with the recruits we get.

UND (2-3, 8-10) vs SDSU (4-1, 14-6) 1/16 7 PM

Iiiii don't know about that. I haven't paid much attention to NDSU hoops but I know they're having a tough go this season but UND ain't exactly tearing it up, some good games some bad games. You guys are at home and we are up and down so I've a feeling if UND wins it won't be a runaway. -

To be honest, in retrospect, you make a good point. Drives to the hoop do get fouls and Moody and Brown are really long-range, straight up, jump shooters. -
Senior Janituinen has been here 3-1/2 seasons and has 44 pts (maybe added few more now since 8 Jan), while Jones who is a nice player but certainly not 1st team all-conf caliber, has been here just 1-1/2 seasons (and missed maybe 8 - 10 games or so during that time?) and points-wise is just a handful behind Janituinen. That says volumes about our offensive product these last few season. It's gotta change.

MSU gets 4 goals in the last 6+ minutes. UND is happy to have such an offensive explosion in a full 60 minutes game these last few seasons. Yoy, yoy, yoy how times have changed in such a short time.

I am by no means a Jones apologist but didn't UND make the big dance just a few seasons ago? -

Something's wrong with that, I don't care if SDSU is the better team. Not right but the refs say welcome to the Summit League (first year) and SDSU is the blue-blood in hoops, UND. -

Agree 100% I realize Seales is a senior but he/the coaching staff has got to realize his limitations (long-range jump shot). -

Yah, he's not a real good long-range, straight up jump shot artist. He looks uncomfortable doing that. His forte is crating his shot for the short to medium range turn-around or twisting shot/put-back. -
Agree. I know Brewster is recovering from surgery but he almost seemed disengaged at times. I thought he could of called a timeout when W Illinois was on a run to hopefully slow them down but nothing. And my God, what was it with allowing all those lay-ups. You're right, a zone defense likely could have slowed that up.
-
Exactly, he's a moron. He handled this so poorly.
-
Disagree. Using that logic, how are student housing and dining halls "linked to the academic mission of the university"? Kennedy completely butchered his handling of this whole situation. Did not take into consideration the desire of the donor, nor confer up front with them. Plus, now it will cost a cool $1/4M to re-open the course minimum. And Kennedy had the gall after this whole debacle to say it was not a mistake? Not handled well at all.

I'm guessing it's because of results elsewhere, the fact we're at home, the fact it was in ot, and the fact it was against CC (what are they, like #30 or so in PW?). That's how you slip a notch or two despite winning.
-
No offense (pardon the pun), but what was that about the Lindbergh baby.....
-
You want perfection or what?! Cripes.
-
Maybe shots-wise but don't believe we were ever outshot per shots on goal, were we? If not, we're still #1!
-
Absolutely amazing/uncanny how all these "hot" goaliessuddenly go un-hot when the good guys are not playing them. Unreal.
-
Cripes, what is it this season and us with the 2nd period? Brad needs to work on his post-1st period/pre-2nd period pep talk. Come to think of it, looking at our nearly .500 record (taking into account our big two ot winds vs CC this wknd!), he might also want to work on his post-2nd period/pre-3rd period pep talk as well. Other than that...
-
"In the Air Tonight" though is only played pre-game on Fridays and I believe it's usually about 12 - 15 min prior to game start.
-
I hear you but think the point is though that last night shouldn't have been a "big win" (CC, at home, it took ot to win it, etc.) but considering where this team/program has been at these last few seasons (and last freaking wknd in particular) it is indeed a "big win". How fast things have changed.

UND (1-2, 7-9) vs Omaha (2-1, 8-8) 1/10 7 PM
GDPritch replied to SWSiouxMN's topic in Men's Basketball
Not to argue but to say this is a "very young team with (the) exception of Avants and Seales" I'm not sure is totally accurate. Not saying they're old/experienced but besides seniors Avants and Seales obviously being regulars they also have Stewart (albeit sat out 1st semester), Walter, and Brown in the mix also. Aren't all three of them juniors? In fact, had Geno not transferred I think we'd be calling them a real veteran team. With him gone I'm not saying it's a veteran team this season but calling them a "young team" is a stretch also and gives them a longer leash to make excuses when that shouldn't necessarily be the case. You may respectfully disagree but just my two cents. -

Yup, Seales has an uncanny ability to score on close to mid-range turn-around jumpers and creating his shot but he's certainly no straight-up, jump shoot artist (especially anything out past mid-range). -
How low can we go? St Clown/Duluth/Den/W Mich/Mia fighting it out for 1 thru 5 in NCHC while UND/CC/Omaha are fighting it out to stay out of last place. Yoy, yoy, yoy.
-
Hah. With this team the only players who "leave early" after this season are the one's who lose their scholarship.
