It wasn’t meant to pick on Shane. He literally is the first rostered hockey player I looked up after finding only birthdays between ‘94-‘97. I now see there was a typo on his Maverick bio. He did play juniors until ‘17. So one year red-shirted Makes sense. I personally have no problem with any team having players who utilized their entire junior eligibility. Those guys have an incredible desire to play the sport they love. I salute them.

I have a question for those who know hockey that I really can’t figure out. When friend of mine asked why Mankato is doing so well, I remembered a quip from Tom H during the October series that the Mavs had a line consisting of three 25 year olds “who would be filing for social security when they graduated”. I said the Mavs are a lot older than the Bulldogs. On a whim I looked up the Maverick roster and saw only ‘94-‘97 birthdays. Then I started thinking; how did you have 22 year old freshmen? Where did they play after juniors? I randomly clicked on the link to Shane McMahan’s bio. He was done with Juniors in 2016 and last year was his first year with the Mavs. His bio is silent on where he played in the intervening years. So my question is: Where does a guy play for two years between Juniors and College? Canadian Seniors? Thanks for your insight.

TBF, Denver had to play against exceptional goal tending and a smothering defense all weekend. That has to be considered when voting.

In an effort to change the topic I offer this: When the best team in the country pounced on a freshman defenseman's mistake last night, the team rightly jumped in celebration for winning an overtime playoff game. Then their fans erupted in a continued chant of "You suck!" As I listened to this I wondered to whom the "You Suck" applies? Was it the UND goalie who has more NCAA national championship rings than the entire Saint Cloud State roster? Was it the Freshman defenseman who made an ill advised clearing pass to a top line St. Cloud Forward? Was it to the Coaching staff of UND who also holds more NCAA championship rings than the SCSU coaching staff? Perhaps it was directed at the UND hockey program with its 8 National Championships hanging at REA, as compared to zero in NHC. Or maybe it was directed at the UND fans who were there supporting their 14th ranked hockey team from a campus 230 miles farther away than Saint Cloud, and an 8-1 attendance effort. My final consideration was that maybe, just maybe these fans don't consider any of these items when they chant "you suck' because they all have a certain lack of class and the ability to examine their own behavior. After examining the cases above, it is easy to recognize who truly sucks.

There are a lot of good seats left for the game. I was at the box office at 5 and bought a block six for both games 11 rows up between the blue line and the center line. He tried to sell me row one, but I will leave those for someone who wants to pound on the glass (they allow that at the X).

It’s been a nice break, shot a deer, making sausage, visited with family over Christmas, even watched a Saturday night Vikings game live, without stessing about our hockey team. But I’ll be back in the saddle as soon as the holidays are over.

I was just talking about his previous employment. YOU brought up the political party. So since you are begging for a political discussion here ya go: Before this 'political appointee from Minnesota' with zero ties to my Alma Mater and no experience running a University got his job, he was a feckless representative from Minnesota. He was famous here for accomplishing nothing for his constituents in the 6th except marching in lock-step with a confessed and convicted boy molester Dennis Hastert. He never crossed The Speaker and Hastert publicly stated he could count on Mark. I don't blame him for the budget shortfall, that goes to the representatives in Bismarck who spent the last 8 years cutting taxes and increasing spending during the bumper years, and immediately started cutting the first time the oil money slowed down. Anyone who has a has a problem with the actual cutting of the program needs to have a conversation with your state representatives if you think this should be priority. No MafiaMan, I hold him responsible to the manner in which the women and coaches found out. And to the the top recruit who was visiting. I find the situation bizarre that I knew via Twitter while the women were on the ice. That was an embarrassment to the University. But I suppose "since he is a Republican, you think nothing he does could ever be wrong". I personally long for the days when they appointed qualified people who had a connection to My University and not appointed for the politics they espouse. But maybe I have too long of a memory in this day and age of hyper-partisanship. And don't you dare say I made it political, you brought up his political party and accused me of being partisan. That would just make you an internet troll and a hypocrite. As I said before, I was trying to remain civil.

I am hearing the women found out during practice, with a high level recruit visiting. This was handled about as badly as could be. I had a very low opinion of Kennedy when he was a Minnesota representative. Somehow he has lowered that opinion. just trying to maintain civility.
