  1. Watched some of Monday's game, and will watch bits and pieces all week. I find that the women take more chances and try to force more scoring opportunities than the men's teams, so they're far more fun to watch. Maybe it's just me, but the men seem to spend 5 minutes trying to set up the perfect play, while the women see a small opening and crash the net much more often.
  2. my bracket when the playoffs started was Lightning over Hawks for The Cup, so I can't change course now! Go Bolts!
  3. Yeah, right... Guessing this will just pay another nickname consultant.
  4. I'll be there the 19th, and the 20th, as well. Really looking forward to these games. Some friends and I take in a series every year, and this year it's the Cubbies. Expecting a lot of their fans to show up, so downtown should be lively -
  5. No, but I'm not gonna lie, I'll be cheering for them more now.
  6. Scary prospect - JohnboyND7 has 2,787 posts, and counting. That would give Johnboy nearly 9 times the clout of ibleedgreen, even though ibleedgreen seems to want UND to succeed a lot more than Johnboy...
  7. So, August 19th. Got it. Making arrangements to stake out truck stops now.
  8. I had to laugh at the interview with Vande Velde - Chris said that Phili has lots of other sports to distract the media, and it's actually worse in GF where it's hockey, hockey, hockey all the time.
  9. I still count a recent post championship (1a) press conference as one of my favorite moments - even then, even in victory, the SU player threw out a "Sioux Suck" to really get the crowd excited. That was all I needed to know about that player/team/fan base.
  10. Saw a reporter (Phili Inquirer) whose entire article was just repeating "Culture change" over and over. At the end, he added "And one more thing; Culture Change".
  11. Could be anything - maybe his wife didn't want to go at first? Maybe the $$ went up? Maybe he got some behind-the-scenes power that wasn't originally promised? We'll probably never know.
  12. TBH, usually a happy Flyer fan is one who just watched someone get a tooth knocked out... Unless you weren't being sarcastic, in which case ignore the last sentence and replace it with "Good"
  13. I'll just quote you, as you summed it up pretty well. Wife and I would always go visit with him at Force games when he was scouting - only Blais was as approachable as a scout from the colleges, but Blais has his number retired there, so that's another topic. Also, at fan fest last fall, when getting a poster autographed, my wife asked Hak to sign it as well. When Hak joked about why, I told him it was because when they won the title that year, we wanted the coach on there as well. He just smiled and said, "We'll see what we can do". No title, but still one heckuva ride!
  14. Of course - then it'll be "He should have won one a long time ago! We should have fired him in 2006!"
  15. I just saw this on FB and had to jump here to see if anyone was confirming it. I am very sad to see him go.
  16. It's like you're in Oxbow's head. I mean, seriously, are you the same person?
  17. I think that's the problem - new coach coming. But who and when? I like to think I have good sources on this, but we're all hanging in the wind right now. The Eades stuff could well be true, as they're still playing (up 2-0 with game 3 Friday in a best of 5), or else maybe that was the plan until Sioux Falls got this far, and now The Force are screwed? I was hoping to see Hrkac here, since he was an assistant in Madison last season, and might want to move up.
  18. The discussion has already begun in the early departure thread, so let's just have on dedicated to it. Who you got? Mine are: C Drake A Bryn A Stecher A St. Claire Reasons: Drake is the fire on that team. Bryn is the emotion guy. Stecher is the calming guy. Colton actually has an extra year with the team, and has deep roots into the group. No Schmaltz because I think he's gone.
  19. Love that Oxbow's Zane fathead made their article picture
  20. So then it would up to the quality of the person, as to whether or not they got their education.
  21. I've never met the guy in the article, so I can't comment on him. $15 an hour, for someone with no advanced schooling, is a pretty good wage in the Fargo area. I don't work for Trail King, but see a lot of applications of their former workers. What you may not fully understand if you're not in this particular job market, is that we are now reduced to hiring the unemployable. The stories I could tell you about cheating on drug tests (if they even show up for them), the no-call, no-shows, the people who can't stay off their cell phones and wander off every couple of minutes from their stations... I could go on for hours. I was interviewing 5 people for an opening last week, and 2 didn't even bother to show up to the interview. Background checks now include "Was it one of the bad felonies?" as a conversation point within the company. The manufacturing industry is ugly for hiring right now.
  22. This, with the edit on 4. Has to be a hard cover.
  23. This made me laugh out loud - thanks! I needed that -
