The new UTSA AD is formerly the AD at NAU. Talk about embarrassing for Elliot. She almost has to get a new job now. NAU doesn t have fan support or an endowment, yet has double the enrollment of UND.
-
Since Porter claimed to hire P J Fleck to WMU, that is hard to top. Might as well coronate him now.
-
Guess San Diego may get a new arena near Petco Park. San Diego and Houston could be on the backburner for an NHL team then.

Western Illinois' fb coach has once again left for greener pastures. News conference tommorow. W Illinois will have to move to the OVC soon is my speculation

Rink Burgum had over $60 million in Great Plains Software in 1997. That should be worth at least $250 million now, as Microsoft has reinvented itself as a cloud company. -

Newmont Mining bought Miramar Mining for $1.5 billion. Dave Fennell was a major shareholder, as he started Hope Bay Mining, which has significant gold holdings in the Nunavut Territory and was then part of Miramar. -

Where is B John Barry? Supposedly he has a net worth of over $1 billion. He was a former owner of multiple banks in Minnesota and Arizona until they were bought out by Norwest later Wells Fargo. Also owned a significant portion of Sun Country Airlines at one time. -
Still rumors that Arizona St will get a new arena and a conference invite, presumaby the NCHC. http://www.flohockey.tv/articles/6063865-hockey-in-the-desert-arizona-state-sun-devils-building-something-special

Chris King‏ @UTRGV_AD Follow Follow @UTRGV_AD More Chris King Retweeted spartypants You do realize it is Christmas Day?!?! The Sky is not falling, the WAC is not crumbling and there is no merger talks..... Chris King added, spartypants @WACspartypants @UTRGV_AD any truth to the claim that Idaho AD says wac and big sky discussing merger? 7:52 AM - 25 Dec 2017 Like an AD has absolute certainty that there are no WAC / Big Sky merger talks. Never said they would merge.
-
The Idaho board reports their AD is saying the Big Sky and WAC will exchange teams . That would be required if Summit Football League forms with the Montana's and Idaho and a new WAC FBS emerges

Some hyperbole on Bentley's new arena which will open soon. http://www.uscho.com/2017/12/20/long-time-coming-new-bentley-arena-going-to-be-as-good-as-any-facility-in-division-i/

Like that gave Youngstown St an FBS bid. Coastal, Texas St, South Alabama, and FIU haven't done anything to "deserve" moving up. If UND goes FBS, that will immediately make NDSU's Frisco appearances irrelevant.

Enrollment is just not all about numbers, but about quality and $'s netted. UMass is in an area where college age students are way down. The UMass administrators have not backed down from FBS. UT-Arlington made it a point to separate itself from the low level Southland conference for a reason. UTA has not denied that they my be interested in FBS. Same with the Shockers, which saw a decline in enrollment when football was dropped. Only the years immediately after the decision really effect a new enrollment, but in Wichita Set's case, a Final Four appearance complicates the picture. Wichita St would do well to get more Texas students, and that takes football. They are now in a league with Texas schools, so they might be satisfied.

The arena option will be unveiled today as the pick. So the Islanders will get a new 18,000 seat home unless they lose a lawsuit, which will inevitably come soon by the NIMBY neighbors to Belmont Park.
-
Guess you and the other people need to find a way to get 500 more student enrollments per year then. Then you will be heard.
-
With WIH, baseball, M golf and M&W swimming, there was more than enough cuts to meet the FBS challenge including another women's sport. FBS facilities would have to be donated. Presidents know much more than we fans. A bowl game at US Bank stadium would be huge exposure for any Dakota school right where they want it.

It's coming up on the time where I think there will be a slew of FCS conference reconfiguration announcements so thought this link would be informative. Schools that go FBS see almost a 500 student enrollment increase for years after their FBS announcement, even if they lose at FBS. Schools that drop FBS see the opposite impact. An FBS decision doesn't impact in state students, but it creates much more awareness for out of state ones. UND needs more advertising in the Twin Cities and Wisconsin and some the best outreach is with FBS. Going FBS would take money, but growth would follow. Wichita St and UT-Arlington saw major enrollment drops when they dropped football. Coastal Carolina, Georgia Southern, and UMass have seen increases. http://businessofcollegesports.com/2013/12/17/indirect-benefits-of-umass-football-moving-to-fbs/

ND oil and gas production are at record levels and there is a record amount of unfracked wells to be completed. A $3.5 billion propane cracker plant was just announced for Alberta, which will be the first in Canada. There is an ethane pipeline from Tioga to Alberta and it would make sense if that pipeline was converted to propane now and an ethane cracker was built near Williston. All the gas plants could feed into a separation central facility with their C2s and higher. The C3s go to Alberta, the C4s and higher on an existing pipeline to Houston, and the C2 get consumed right there.

If nothing else, it gives renewed hope for the conference season and tournament. Sealed showed what he can do on a big stage. Crandall as always showed he is a clutch player. The starting five are solid and but we need more contributions from the bench. The Big Sky is now #17 In RPI, so the conference season should be a good show.

When WV and Rutgers left the Big East, the football contract value went way down. Boise St and San Diego St, which would have had to pay the Big West routinely for membership, bought out their Big West and Big East fb only contracts and hightailed it back to the MWC

The bison trolls and their sympathizers are so wrong again. Imagine that.

Talk of Gonzaga in the Big East has recently resurfaced. The Big East probably needs 12 teams, and Gonzaga with St Louis, or Wichita St or Dayton have been mentioned, While Gonzaga is far West, their profile has only risen with their championship appearance last year. Gonzaga would offer a western region team for the BE, which would create national interest and also allow later games on FS1. http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2017/dec/07/gonzaga-playing-in-the-big-east-far-fetched-or-the/ Seattle would be a natural replacement as Gonzaga has been blocking their neighboring Jesuit school.
-
Gonzaga won't score 100 in this game!
-
With Sam Houston St now out of the playoffs, would not surprise me if the WAC invited SW teams for FBS. The Big West is already covered for losses, with their recent additions of UCSD and Bakersfield, which the Big West was formerly steadfastly against adding.

In 2015-16, Nebraska had football revenue of $65 million with expenses of $27.5 million. Tickets are priced at $57 average. Nebraska went 6-7 that year, so presumably they had seven home games. Each home game would bring in revenue of at least $8 million. Not sure if the Big Ten TV revenue even counts for this but since total revenue was $112 million, the Big Ten sharing must be in the non-football revenue (as there other sports don't have nearly the revenue).
