  1. Fred Lukens too. Both were mainstays of the Sioux teams in the 70's. Jogged my memory a bit. The superteam from Fort Yates with Eaglestaff and Lukens lost in the first round of the state tournament the next year(?) Jamestown, the team that beat them in the state first round, basically broke down and cried when they heard Fort Yates lost in the finals of the Southwest region for their first loss. Jamestown was expecting to be on the other side of the bracket. Fort Yates with Eaglestaff and Lukens was feared as a juggernaut.

  4. Brekke will transform the inside game if he can get back into game shape in another couple weeks.
  5. Jordan Allard, current senior on the BB team, is a son of one of the Epping Allards.
  6. My math was off by 3 then. GFRR must have 14 championships. Makes sense that GPR has most appearances. Although Park River by itself had appearances too, but guess those don't count. The state tournament needs GPR, otherwise attendance goes way down. Davies will likely be the next school to win one for the first time. Maybe West Fargo Sheyenne whenever it opens. The Bismarck schools will be splitting again, so their chances will go down even further.
  7. NDSU sure seems susceptible to sexism and racism charges. If you are of Hispanic heritage and a female, you get suspended for up to 20% of the season before actually being charged. If you are black or white and a male on a national championship team, get just a hand slap even after conviction, including a certain player that resisted police arrest.
  8. Central has 25 and quite a few more than RR. This will be the 52nd year, so by arithmetic (and these are guesses) GPR - 4 ? FN - 3 ? FS - 2 ? Minot - 1 51 + 1 (GFC and GFRR tied one year in 7 overtimes) - 10 -25 = 17 championships for GFRR , just a guess. Since GFRR split off from GFC, it is essentially even.
  9. Hammy lives on another planet, so no comparison is relevant.
  10. Can't forget Miami O.
  11. In 1981, much of the Devils Lake team was suspended for most of the hockey season. Due to a very poor record, Devils Lake was matched up with Central in a play-in game (there wasn't an East-West or North-South tournament). Devils Lake beat GFC in the play-in game and knocked GFC out of being a part of the state tournament for the first time ever. Red River now has the most appearances, even though it had seven fewer chances than GFC.
  12. The media never would have pursued the case against the bizon football players so much if Gene Taylor had just admitted that what happened was a crime and deserved punishment / suspensions. A half game suspension during the Prairie View A&M game would have sufficed. Yet that PR genius Gene just kept waxing on about how these players didn't do anything seriously wrong and how persecuted they were. Yet the Attorney General and Secretary of State goes on about how serious these forgery charges were. Oh, the poor bison players, they can't help that they are stupid. Bizon fans, pull your heads out of your asses just once and lay the blame for all the media attention with the person that made it 100 times worse: Gene Taylor. The arrogance from him is what got your program all kinds of media limelight, which was well deserved. This whole event just shows how sensitive bizon fans are to charges that their football program has been corrupted. Its just not player stupidity, but administrative sensibility. UND's administration got an "A". NDSU's, specifically Taylor, got an "F" for both PR and ethics. Taylor created another black eye for NDSU football through his handling of the whole case, not the media.
  13. Bin, You and other moderators simply do not have enough balls to deal with the problems on this board: banning. Ban me if you want. Let this board officially become what it has become: Siouxsports discussed by bison fans.
  14. You'll never get it that you are the rude one. One or two messages a month would be fine, but you post here more than anyone with mronic stuff from a kid that doesn't know !@#$ about life. You are the neighbor that has no life of his own, so he parks himself at his neighbors drinking beer till 2 in the morning when they have been trying to get rid of him for 5 hours. Finally, blunt words have to be said to get rid of the interloper. You just have no social intelligence - its just amazing that you can't perceive you've overstayed your welcome: and how downright rude you are.
  15. Aren't you the same person that used to work at a hospital and post from computers there. Now you have a cush job at a bank that you badmouth on public forums, and set yourself up as some f****g sports consultant to UND atletics, when your own work habits basically prove you are a deadbeat. There hould be some rule here that any posting by you requires a $100 deposit to UND athletics just to get rid of all the drivel coming from you.

  17. Green_Sioux: May I suggest that you and your group post here more often. Your perspective and your friends is needed to counter the negativity. Fight fire with cooling water. As you said, discussion boards are a reality, and older more patient fans bring a perpective that is needed.
  18. UND rotating 10 players, to UNC's 8. That could make a difference in the end.
  19. UND averaging nearly one turnover every minute. Shooting 20%.
  20. Jones is paid ridiculously low for a DI coach (under 80k ?). Not sure you can get anyone for that, except some young coach out of DII ranks. Isn't Idalski paid more than any coach but Hakstol?
  21. UND will likely be a decided underdog with all the following opponents (considering that the ISU game is in Pocatello). H Bowling Green @ Idaho State @Weber St H Montana Could be 0-5 in the Big Sky before we know it. The three home games after that are very winnable, but the team can't be disillusioned by then. H Montana St H E Wash H Portland St
  22. Hope that her presence and quickness on the practice squad will help the other guards develop faster.
  23. Welcome Makaliah! (Troy Huff's cousin) Could use her right now. Read more: http://host.madison.com/sports/college/basketball/women/badgers-women-s-basketball-former-madison-east-guard-makailah-dyer/article_09fa1856-336c-11e2-84eb-001a4bcf887a.html#ixzz2FkWrSoVj
