With Idaho announcing they are going to the Sun Belt for football only, will that result in relooking at Idaho's Big Sky membership for Olympic sports? Can't imagine the President's are all that pleased with Idaho, as a division setup for football will not be possible now. Thought it was required that BIg Sky schools have their football in-house.

42nd St is really filling in. Crown Colony to be demolished and replaced with commercial / apartment complex. In the 80's, Crown Colony was the prime entertainment complex, with the Colony Theaters, restaurants, bars, etc. http://www.grandforksherald.com/event/article/id/260616/

Can't see how that would possibly be. Butler had like nine wins in the NCAA while they were still in the Horizon. Each win equals $250,000 in conference payments over six years. Add in six more appearances, that would be 15 units that the NCAA owes the Horizon in the next couple of years, giving the Horizon $3.75 mill in payments per year. Each school in the Horizon gets a share, so that gives each Horizon school around $400,000 per year. The Summit doesn't have any wins, but has appearances, so the NCAA gives the Summit $1.5 mill /yr, or around $150,000 / school. Anybody with any sense would move from the Summit to the Horizon, especially with the Horizon having a contract with ESPN. Actually, seems it could benefit SDSU if the Summit League disbanded. If a conference disbands, then the units go to the schools with the appearance or win, not the conference. SDSU could stand to gain $500,000 a year for the next five years if the Summit disbands, as the NCAA money for their appearances would go directly to SDSU, plus pick up extra money if its in the Horizon. It is kind of win / win for SDSU, provided they get in another conference. NDSU would likely get like one payment of $250,000 for its one appearance. SDSU would be up almost a million a year for the next few years if it got a bid to the Horizon and killed off the Summit. The Horizon has a lot of money to disburse over the next few years. No way to the leftover schools or Summit schools want it to disband, otherwise that money goes to Butler. Practically any school near the Horizon footprint in either the Summit or OVC would move there, provided any football team has a home.

What about Douple, or does he have a few bottles handy?
-
A tweet indicated that the Horizon has interest in Denver and UMKC. The Horizon has a TV contract, so they have to have bigger markets. Maybe even Omaha would have interest. If Denver goes, down goes the Summit unless we join. Maybe NDSU and SDSU could join the WAC.
-
It's probably safe to say that Omaha will get in the MVC well before SDSU or NDSU. Market and facilities (Omaha is getting a new arena) trump what those two schools offer. A Dakota school really needs to become a media dance darling like FGCU to even enter into consideration for the MVC.

Excellent post. For this season, I think the actions of a few that resulted in suspensions really affected trust and team chemistry throughout the season. Nothing jelled because the players that should have been leaders weren't early on. It's one thing to have a party. It's another to purposely mess with a teammates body with the end result of causing a hospital visit.

According to their fans, isn't FU in the running?

Doubt there is enough money in it for that to work. In the WCHA, most teams average at least 4000 and then play at least 2 games. In the Big Sky, plane tickets on short notice would need to be bought, and few teams have attendance enough to even compensate the visitors for their travel costs. Conference tournaments are more about making money than creating a real playoff.

Agree in principle, but would have liked UND's chances in the "play in" first round against NC A&T or Brooklyn or Liberty. WInning that game pays as much as a second round game, which UND would have no chance in vs a #1 seed.
-
Much needed change. Our teams have fallen to Sdsu's level, while we're in much better swimming conferences and have a 50 m pool.
-
So what would happen if UND was able to host the men's side of the BSC tournament? With the NCHC first round playoffs scheduled the same weekend, the Ralph complex would be a real mess. Could starting times be staggered? With the championship game on ESPNU, that time is set in stone for the Saturday game.

Thanks, WILD. You're a class act. That's the team that many of us thought UND would be, but injuries the loss of two JC transfers just devastated this team. Huff still is way underweight after his broken jaw/liquid diet and Brekke only now looked at full strength. It would be really awesome to host the tournament. Know that Weber will be right up there next year.

After the SDSU game and losing on a last second 3, thought we were due one. The mistakes in the last minute were painful. Wilmer was really coming into his own. It's too bad he couldn't have gone to prep school or something for one year. Another year of development could have really made him into an outstanding center. Will be interesting next year with Salmonson, Nash, and Traylor (if he's back) what the inside game can look like. Weber St must have outweighed us 2:1.
-
Biggest game in decades for UND men's basketball. Will Wilmer and Brekke both need to on the court to stop Weber's bigs? That would really be a switch in lineup. One key has to be the ability to hit the three, to keep Weber from collapsing in and stopping the drives. Think it will be either very close or a blow out be Weber. Surprised by the limited talk here. After all, Michigan Tech isn't that much of a challenge on the hockey side.

http://kenpom.com/blog/index.php/weblog/entry/big_sky_log5 Enthusiasm probably needs to be tempered a bit, at least for this year. Next year is another story. UND has not yet proven it can play with either Montana or Weber St. Most likely, UND will need to beat both. Pomeroy gives UND a 1.5% chance of winning the autobid, an 8% chance of being in the final, and a 60% chance of being in the semifinals. (60% chance of winning vs SUU, ~13% chance of winning vs Weber, ~18% of winning vs Montana) Would think UND's chances are are bit higher than this, because it seems Pomeroy's analysis includes games when Huff was injured when UND's record is horrible, but certainly not more than 3-4% chance of winning the entire tournament.
-
UND record with Huff out: 0-7 vs DI (2-0 vs NAIA ) UND record with Huff playing but not starting: 2-3 UND record with Huff starting and playing full game: 11-5 Big Sky record with Huff starting: 11-4 Big Sky record w/o Huff starting: 1- 4

Its clear that you hate devout Christians in politics. You are a anti-spiritual bigot, like the far-left of the UND faculty. Anyone like all those politicians who view the unborn as having a sacred right to life is detestable in your eyes. But if a marxist pagan like Angela shows up, you rejoice. Give your anti-Christian crusade a rest on this board.

Good God. They are torturing millions their own people today, many of them ethnic minorities in their own countries. How ignorant can you be? -

Robert Byrd in the Senate was a KKK member for most of his life, but never got into any trouble from the media on it, because the media liked him. These kids are getting more grief than Robert Byrd ever got, and kids are just guilty of stupidity. So what punishment do these kids deserve? Really like to hear that. -
Yeah, right. Went to Central years ago. Yeah, lets attack the kids that prompted those hats to be removed. The kids self moderated themselves within a minute. Yet all of them will be labeled as perpetrators. How is a photo a story without an understanding of what happened before and after? How is an act of stupidity a crime? It wasn't like these kids went and forged tens of thousands of signatures on a petition.

Of course I'm not making sense to an academic type that has immersed himself in the ideology of historical ethnic grievances and how those grievances need to be inflicted on the grandchildren and greatgrandchildren of those who inflicted them. You are advocating continued ethnic grievances and hatred. I am not. I am asking for forgiveness that heals. You have no knowledge of forgiveness. Forgiveness is foreign to you, which makes me grieve for lack of a spiritual life. -
Cell phones change what one writes. Are you really that slow? Marxism. Yeah, Sarah Palin a marxist. So why do neither UND nor the Herald actually present her current ideology as it is other than painting it as "civil rights". That PC at its worst. And if I mention her continued dedication to marxism by even militant means, I get attacked by you. Double standard there. As if there are not far-left leaning professors at UND that have great reverence for her.

A POW camp has different rules than war. Murder by anyone is wrong. Have you ever forgiven anyone? You refuse to answer that. -
Your response in not acknowledging Miss Davis' militant maxism is quite telling. Certainly you don't qualify as a jounalist or a poster with integrity.
