  1. The Best Buy scandal took that school to a whole other level. Think that program needs scandals to motivate the players (otherwise they know they are scum, so a game situation is their only chance to win back "honor") and to motivate the fans (they demand some level of redemption in supporting a rougue programl). The fans should be embarassed but only become more defensive and more accusatory to other programs.
  2. Rumors are that Western Michigan will announce a new $60 million rink soon: http://www.westerncollegehockeyblog.com/2013/8/2/4583886/western-michigan-ad-i-cannot-confirm-a-new-arena http://broncohockeyhotstove.com/2013/07/16/wmu-to-build-new-hockey-arena-on-campus/
  3. Whether you like it or not, a hockey championship is way bigger than an FCS one. That's why more alumni follow it.
  4. Bisonville has always been about how meaningless any D1 hockey championship is. Respect a championship for fans of Montana or App St 1000 timrs more, because they return respect.
  5. Until NDsu fans acknowledge that seven D1 championships is a significant accomplishment, all their bragging about FCS is empty rhetoric.
  6. Actually, would be more impressed with a national team wrestling championship than an FCS champ. Woild mean you actually beat the big boys. Wouldnt attend or anything but would be more impressed, especially if they were'nt a bunch of criminals.
  7. Always in denial with the "relatively close song and dance". UND hockey ticket sales are more than double NDSU football ticket sales. When priority seating rights are added, still more than 50% higher. If Team Makers actually had links that weren't broken, would have had the $100 Bison Club membership correct.
  8. Could they be at the suite level? There are 68 suites.
  9. http://sports.yahoo....-140557363.html Phoenix deal may not yet be settled.
  10. They'd have to play in the Alerus or Purpur, as the REA Foundation wouldn't rent to them. Grand Forks is just too small for an AHL team. Really, nobody would have allegiance to an AHL team that changes its roster every three or four months.
  11. UND hockey 8000 season tickets x $390 / ticket + 4000 x $360 for Century Club (Century Club gives rights to two tickets) = 3,120,000 to REA + 1,440,000 to UND Champion Club (higher levels offer more tickets / membership and yields more $'s) 3000 student season tickets x $140 = $420,000 at least $5 M to REA and UND Champions Club (doesn't include concessions or parking or advertising) NDSU football 12,100 season tickets x $150 (average) + 6050 x $50 for Teammakers = 1,770,000 ticket sales + 600,000 for teammakers (doesn't include higher Team Maker levels) 1600 single game tickets x $35 x 5 games =8000 tickets x $35 = $280,000 Rest student tickets for free. At least $2.5 mill to NDSU athletics and Team Makers (doesn't include concessions, parking, advertising, or tailgating, Team Makers number is unquestionably higher, but so is the hockey value to UND Champions Club) So UND hockey has nearly twice the economic value. Plus, UND hockey players are high level stars at their level as evidenced by their draft selection position. NDSU players rarely are drafted, and if they have a pro future, it is as undrafted free agents or in arena leagues with dashers.
  12. It had the Manitoba Moose until the Jets moved into town. (Much like the Minnesota Moose moved to Winnipeg when the Wild began playing). Typically, cities with AHL teams lose the AHL team when an NHL team moves in. Chicago is an exception, having both.
  13. Your dad or Babich?
  14. They had blue bags over their heads too!
  15. NDSU 2002 2-8 record Home attendance (most later season games the attendance was greatly inflated) Winona St 12,499 Augustana 10,260 North Dakota 19,042 (Won by the good guys!) Mankato 8451 NoColo 6621 <--- Dead as a doorknob St Cloud St 6768 <--- Maybe 2000
  16. Don't picture johnnyboy as grossly obese, but you definitely qualify!! Bet you have a sausage in one hand and a cheesecake in the other, with the face of Jabba the Hutt.
  17. Bisonville has just been glued to the coverage of this, even giving play by play of tickets sold. They certainly haven't moved on.
  18. Think what the thinking is is to force people to buy season tickets to get assure they can get in the NDSU game. That in turn should raise attendance for all the other games, as many of those tickets would then be used that otherwise wouldn't be bought. Bison fans likely will be shut out of attending unless they buy season tickets. Personally, think a 10,000 attendance game at the Ralph would go a long way in attracting recruiting interest and pay a lot of basketball bills. Don't mind NDSU fans paying to support UND athletics. Is this where the addition to the Betty came into play? With expanded bleachers at each end of the court and the new storage addition will house those bleachers?
  19. So Mankato did a DI study just recently? Sounds like at least someone there desires DI enough to have brought about a study. There wouldn't be a study unless there was at least on open Summit League offer.
  20. Anything from the biggest troll around is such a joke. You're board is full of grossly overweight middle age wannabe teenage football groupies. You're probably the only person on that board that isn't 100-200 lbs overweight except for ADHD types like Lakes.
  21. So losing to NAIA teams didn't have anything to do with it? Or losing players like Weston Dressler, Ryan Chapel, Digger Anderson, great OL play, etc? Winning matters. The atmosphere in the FargoDome used to be incredibly bad.
  22. If DU is forced to move back into the WAC, the DU AD will be out of a job. DU just doesn't have many conference options, and plus they have high aspirations (getting in the Big East for lacrosse may be the AD's saving grace). The DU Board simply isn't going to tolerate being in the WAC with for-profit Grand Canyon, recent former JC Utah Valley, low standards UT Pan American, and 10% grad rate Chicago State: associating with them smears their reputation in their opinion.
  23. And yet CFO Marnocha refuses to say what the benefit is. If it's $1000 below $2 mill he can say its false and he wouldn't be lying. Football at St Cloud, Mankato, and Duluth (in spite of the recent success at Kato and Duluth) will always be loss leaders. Financially, they can't afford to play football with scholarships. Mankato resents being left behind St Cloud and Duluth in hockey, and wants to regain an edge. Omaha folded two programs that were huge loss leaders (wrestling and football) to concentrate on those that could make money (hockey and basketball).
  24. The orange lower bowl seating looks retractable, while the blue seating isn't. For a concert venue, not having the flexibility for retractable seating at the lower level is simply ludicrous. How does a simple remodel cost $140 million unless some major changes besides suites - like ice making - is going in? $140 million is more than enough to build a new arena in a rural area like Champaign. So Under Armour as a hockey garment maker doesn't count? http://www.underarmo...rts/hockey/mens Once upon a time, Michigan played basketball in the Yost Arena when it didn't have ice making capability. When basketball moved to the Chrysler Arena, a rink was installed at Yost to make it useful again. So that can't happen at Maryland?
