NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
Bisonville talks big about a new stadium, but that was to get into the MWC, which will never happen. The Fargodome is adequate for the Sun Belt. Yeah, they probably have to add women's sports. Maybe they go with women's wrestling. Add some mud and a few pigs and it would be a big attraction for NDSU. The Sun Belt would be very leary of granting FBS status to FCS schools unless they had a long term commitment. The Sun Belt would probably demand a 10 year commitment, a $500 k travel allowance annually, and a big fat exit fee of a million or more if NDSU left before the tens years was up. NDSU could stay in the Slummit though, as Sun Belt teams would not want to travel to Fargo for soccer and volleyball. The Sun Belt probably adds Eastern Kentucky as a full member, re-signs NMSU as an associate football member, which means it has one more slot. Mo St is probably working with Wichita St to get into the American or CUSA, same with JMU and Va Commonwealth. Doubt MO St or JMU come aboard, so to get to 12 if might come down to a bidding war between NDSU and Youngstown St. Whichever comes with a better deal get in the Sun Belt for football. The Sun Belt already has two non-football members in UTA and UALR, so its not like they have to have full members. The way, both basketball and football and 12 members, with two football affiliates. -
NDSU to move to FBS with an invite from the Sun Belch?
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in NCAA News
The exit fee from the Summit was recently raised from $250K to $1M. The Summit and the MVFC imposted a special $500 k exit fee on NDSU and SDSU if they left within 5 years of joining. Those have expired. The MVC doesn't have any exit fees and that probably applies to the MVFC now too. -

I could easily see UND adding x-country skiing for women. Schools like St Cloud and Bemidji have it for both sexes and compete at the top level. Montana St is the only BSC school that offers skiing. NAU and Montana used to I believe. -
I've written before that NDSU getting an FBS invite from a conference is a miniscule possibility. Fargo's remoteness and low number of TV eyeballs make NDSU very unattractive. Of course, a Big Sky FBS conference would want NDSU, as then the conference could more easily sell a Minneapolis bowl to potential sponsors, but NDSU and their fans absolutely do not want any part of it, especially because it would mean reuniting with UND. Conferences like the MAC, MWC, CUSA, and American wouldn't even answer phone calls from Bresciani. But one conference, the Sun Belt, might entertain offers if it doesn't get their first picks. The Sun Belt is at eleven FBS members, but Idaho and maybe NMSU might get dropped next year. Ideally, the Sun Belt wants three schools signed up next year so it can have a conference championship game on ESPN and make some bucks. The G5 can have up to 12 members to share in the college football playoffs, where each school would make a cool million from it. CUSA actually is penalized, as its 14 members will have to share less than a full share because it has too many members. So the Sun Belt expanding would result in new members getting a full share (without harming the others) and also allow it to have a CCG, which would bring in more bucks. Sun Belt candidates would be: JMU = which considers the league to be academically inferior. Would go to CUSA, but the Sun Belt is beneath it Liberty - which the Sun Belt does not want to take because of religious issues E Kentucky - which has done everything right in upgrading its stadium and athletics Mo St - has said no in the past. Doesn't want to leave the MVC, but thinks of itself as a CUSA school. NMSU - has been rejected because the eastern schools don't want to travel that far Idaho - almost certainly won't get an extension because of distance UMass - UMass does not want to associate with the academically weak Sun Belt, it would weaken an already weak football program and their fans definitely want independence instead Sam Houston, Lamar, Jacksonville St - The Sun Belt isn't interested NDSU - has the stadium to go FBS now, might be enticed if they paid other teams a travel subsidy. Wouldn't have to leave the Slummit and pay a million exit fees, as the Sun Belt wouldn't want its Olympic sports. The MVFC slapped on exit fee on NDSU if they left for the Big Sky, but have now stayed in long enough. Would be able to set the pace again ahead of UND and even SDSU in the bid to go FBS. Might even consider travel fees for FB only. Youngstown St - A very poor academic school, but now has Jim Tressel as its President. Wouldn't have to leave the Horizon. Tressel would want an upgrade to FBS in my view. Maybe there are some others in the south like UTC or Coastal Carolina who could make the move up, but they haven't expressed interest in FBS. If Bresciani pulls a rabbit out his hat, NDSU could very well do this. They'd probably have to add a women's sport for Title IX concerns. If it became known that the Big Sky was the only FBS option, Teammakers would put their pennies together, as they absolutely have to get to FBS before UND. Its do or die for most of them. NDSU could get a two year head start of FBS, and even dominate regional recruiting more. With no G5 team in Minn or Wisc, a lot more talent could go there way the first few years. Once UND and or SDSU go FBS, that could change. Would a Midwest school benefit long term playing a bunch of southereastern teams. Would be a huge gamble by NDSU. I think NDSU has about a 10% chance of getting an invite as early as next spring. If either MO St says no again or if NMSU is rejected again, NDSU might get an FBS opportunity.

http://finance.yahoo.com/news/keystone-darned-canada-finds-oil-020000251.html Looks like Canada has come up with an alternative to get oil sands out of Alberta: converting a nat gas pipeline from Alberta to Ontario to oil use, and then building a new oil pipeline through Quebec and to a port at St.John, New Brunswick. Canada wants to be an energy superpower, and this will help get them there. So all the environmental protests by so called Nebraska farmers and all the delays by the Obama administration which badly hurt Canadians dreams go for naught. The railroads won't get a further added load from Alberta tar sands. Warren Buffet must be pissed.

Tony just makes up standards as he goes. Whatever makes NDSU look best, and whatever makes UND look the worst, that the way Tony's moral compass points. He only has banned Lakes like 20 times. Now they seem to be best buddies. Tony pretends he's some giant of an intellectual, when he's clearly a mental midget that has been granted an NDSU degree that he thinks is special. It probably is: spec ed. Bizon fans insisting that SiouxSports conform to Tony's standards has to be one of the all time jokes.

When just DI is counted, then we're 91. When DII and lower levels are counted, then we drop by like 29 slots. I looked up Concordia-SP that is highly ranked in DII, and they don't have a player over six foot, so normally they'd get slaughtered to a DI team with height as most of their kills would be blocked and a DI team wouldn't worry much about their blocking ability. Since DI does not play DII much, the DII teams look severely overrated. I don't doubt that UMD and ConcordiaSP are good for DII, but they are certainly no high level DI teams. Probably close to NDSU. There's only like 330 volleyball teams in DI, so low rated team like the Montana's would climb over 150 slots.

The Idaho State game is only given a 30% chance of a UND win by Massey. The chances of winning the game at the Vandals is only 35%, Massey Ratings for the Big Sky: NAU 99 ISU 113 UND 120 Idaho 123 NoCO 152 PSU 262 SUU 266 E Wash 271 Sac St 383 Mont 457 Mont St 481 Weber St 491 Last weeks road trip to Montana should have been the easiest road trip. Incidentally, USD is up to #59 is the Massey rankings even though they have been beaten by us twice. They have beat both Creighton and Colorado which are both top 50 teams, to make a move up.

So the real issue is with my claim that UND and some of the BSC will move up to FBS. Any move won't occur after 2017 when Idaho is evicted from the Sun Belt. Bisonvile has a major issue with that so they attempt to discredit me for trivial things, when they write far worse about UND and Grand Forks without getting Tony's dander up. Anyone claiming UND will go to FBS is on a target list from the Vile. The subject totally enrages the bizon, as they think UND should not be allowed to move up as the bizon don't have an offer from an FBS conference.

UT Pan American merged with UT Brownsville to form UT-Rio Grande Valley. Not sure what the new mascot is though. -
Like to hear it. The cultural change has been overwhelmingly positive, first among the players and then the fans.

It might have been schools like No Col and Weber St that objected to Denver and Seattle. Certainly someone did, and the Big Sky intended the WAC to survive. Denver hated the idea of GCU in the WAC, so it left. Denver might say they spend all kinds of money on lacrosse, but much of that is for scholarships and DU might just be waiving the cost of 40k tuitions. The coaches pay, equipment, and travel are certainly real dollars. If the Big Sky splits into FBS and FCS, I'd like to see Denver and Seattle in the FBS Big Sky. That would help for BB markets and keep Denver close at hand for hockey. Denver preferred the Big Sky to the Summit, and if the Big Sky jettisons the most of teachers colleges that's all the better. FBS Big Sky UC Davis - Sac St Portland St - Seattle EWU - Idaho Montana - Montana St UND - NDSU Denver - Cal Poly The WAC can have Idaho St, Weber St, SUU, NAU, and UNC to go with GCU, UVU, Bakersfield, and UTRGV. -
Bisonvile's owner, Tony, is supposedly livid about me posting about Fargo's gang problem. The gangs are terrorizing the streets, but Tony doesn't want news of that posted on Bisonvile. Tony considers himself the greatest ethicist and philosopher ever produced by NDSU. But the previous occupants of that title were a sewer rat and Arnold the pig. If Grand Forks had a gang problem (and it did before the flood), Tony would be all over it. If the Bisonville is calling me out that for pointing out that Fargo has a drug and gang problem, then Bisonville should be profusely apologizing to Dru Sjodin's family and the rape victims of Sambursky, but because its Grand Forks, all ethics can go in the toilet according to Tony. Here's TV footing of Fargo's gang problem. http://www.valleynewslive.com/story/26691348/breaking-large-fight-reported-in-south-fargo http://kfgo.com/news/articles/2014/oct/03/more-disturbances-one-arrest-tied-to-violent-fargo-home-invasion/ There was a warning put out before the Bearson murder about Fargo gangs: http://www.kvrr.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=28822&Itemid=57 but such reports aren't allowed on Bisonville because they are real and affect Fargo. You won't find reports of gangs in Fargo on Bisonvile. Next I'll be accused of racism, just wait. NDSU and Fargo supposed to be this utopia where nothing bad happens, and Tony will ensure his posters follow those rules.

McKenzie County delivers excellent wells for the Bakken and all of the Three Forks Benches. Most of the rest of the counties may have one or two good layers, but not five. Oil companies are often drilling 16 or more wells in one spot in McKenzie County, which seriously cuts down on capital costs as the rigs don't have to move and a oil company can use the same mineral rights for all five layers, so the extra layers didn't require added mineral right expense (depends on when they bought the mineral rights - early on, it was the assumption that only the Middle Bakken would have viable wells).
-
Saudi Arabia looks to start a price war because of shale oil. Oil could go down to $70 a barrel. http://www.cnbc.com/id/102053966#. That could slow down oil drilling in the Bakken, but most of the oil companies are hedged, so the major effect wouldn't be til later. The production cost is down to $37/b in McKenzie County, but in other Bakken Counties it is more like $70/b. Likely that Watford City would barely slow down, but as you get away from Watford City, the economics aren't nearly as good.

2-1 UND UND seems to start off terrible, especially with away games, and then later roll. Video is unwatchable. Dooley is hitting .560 at present. The other gals were hitting poorly at first, but have come on.

I would agree. But currently there is no league that UND could join for lacrosse either. If some PAC12 and MWC school start lax, that would change the whole equation. Denver is in the Big East for lax, and Air Force is in a smaller East Coast Conference. -

UND now has to be concerned that there will not be a WAC home for baseball and M/W swimming, as losing UMKC would mean the WAC is down to seven members (and only six are full DI members - Grand Canyon is still transitioning). Swimming can probably find a home in the Mountain Pacific Federation, but baseball would be sluck in the Slummit. Oral Roberts returning to the Slummit saved it, as the Slummit got the six baseball members it had to have. The Slummit is a revolving door conference, that is for sure. Every year that passes, their memberships changes by one school based on historical averages. -
You are such a joke. You hang around bisonvile all day and they have no integrity at all there. The whole board just trashes UND 24 hrs a day and everywhere else. Where's their integrity? That's so rich. Never seen so much vulgarity and vileness and pettiness about other schools and cities like on a message board like b-vile. (spelled with one "L" for emphasis) Having lived in bigger cities, I can state unequivocally that is it not normal for a kid to be murdered and dumped off unless gangs or drugs were involved in some form or fashion. These were not kids that were partying and joyriding. Seems like there have been recent clashes in Fargo between rival "neighbors": http://www.inforum.com/content/one-arrested-after-pair-clashes-between-warring-factions-south-fargo-neighborhood Real neighborly there. The Forum used the word 'gangs' and reports there have been altercations for several months. Call the Forum and give them a blasting for using that word. And while you are at it, call WDAY and blast them for having a story on the Bearson death that used the words drugs and gangs. Prove your integrity before casting a stone at others here. Bresciani knew there had been gang activity, but he wants Fargoan's to keep their mouth's closed and not be concerned? Yeah, right.

I was comparing liberal journalism thinking to a religious conviction. You are illiterate and a douche, but that is already well known here.
