Iowa and Pacific look to be the biggest tests of non-conference play. Maybe Pryor has found the right combinations.

I hope so. Magna Zietek seems to do the trick with the offense. Moser and Thompson didn't play after the NDSU debacle. Interesting.

You disagree with Colin Cowherd? EWU has Spokane practically in their backyard. Spokane will see EWU football as much more relevant if EWU move up to FBS.

Colin Cowherd, an EWU alum, was at the EWU-Sam Houston St game and he talked as if EWU would move up as a result of their Gateway Project stadium expansion. http://www.spokesman.com/stories/2014/aug/23/espns-cowherd-returns-to-take-in-ewus-wow-moment/ Bison fans need to go on gameday and tell how stupid Cowherd is for believing the EWU can be FBS. It simply isn't possible, according to them. Bison fans know what is best for Big Sky schools. There is no way that 31 networks need football programming.

A silver lining to this game is that the Bison coach will be retained. She won their Super Bowl and so therefore her job is secure. Can't think of one recruit that she beat out UND for.

I have some crow to eat, but I still like the future of UND's team. It was obvious with service errors and scoring that some UND players were intimidated by the environment. The right side didn't provide a balance to the attack, as we had in previous matches. NDSU might have thrown in a different set up that they'd shown previously. It's a bad loss to a bad team, but hopefully lessons can be learned going forward. My internet was down all day yesterday and I'd rather not post by phone.

That might be reality. Or it could be that Sweeney will be needed when UND goes FBS.

Aces aren't that rare, but a server who can consistently make an ace is. Serving a ball out of bounds or into the net are free points, so sometimes trying to hit a weak spot harms your own team if misplayed. There are often players that coaches won't allow to serve, because that isn't their specialty. A lot of substitutions are made so certain players never have to serve, or to temporarily insert good servers. Idaho State has mostly played a P5 schedule. They did win over St Mary's, which is rated almost as highly as Iowa. Portland St has played a difficult schedule too, and NAU is the highest rated Big Sky team at present. NDSU and SDSU have Massey ratings well below 400, so some Northern Sun teams could give them a good beating. Miss St and Miss Valley St are two other teams on UND's schedule that don't look to be a challenge. Generally, California teams including Big West and West Coast Conference teams are very good, most P5 teams are very good (except Miss St, Rutgers, BC, Tennessee) and the Midwest has its share of outperformers for mid major teams. The East is typically pretty lousy, except for Penn State. There are some very good teams east of the Mississippi River below P5, but those are rarer: like Dayton, Appy St, Lipscomb, Xavier. Its my belief that UND can be a consistent top 50 program with the talent just in ND and MN leftover by the UM program. Concordia SP and MinnDuluth have teams that could compete well at the top of DI. We have the facilities and we have the talent in the area. A lot of schools seem to treat volleyball with disdain or disinterest or place to stash women's scholarships without insisting on a return.

Idaho State lost to Iowa by a 3-1 margin in Tempe, so UND should be able to give them a good fight.

Much of Williston and Watford City are under construction, so private funding has been allocated for the mixed use complexes. Williston has two convention centers proposed, one for a fair venue and one mostly private (shown above), that have not been totally funded and are awaiting a decision by the city to fund (maybe both get funded). Most of the completed large buildings are motels or industrial buildings.

Iowa will be a big time challenge. SDSU is worse than NDSU, if that's possible. Also have Florida International and Eastern Illinois (I think), so five games.

This is like their second year in DI, and they had just started football at the DII level when they moved up. For a private school to move up in football with no previous base, some individual is a big time financial supporter.
