http://www.sonicsrising.com/2015/7/8/8916975/victor-coleman-seattle-nhl-expansion So Seattle might have four groups bidding, one for an arena in south downtown, one for an arena in Tukwila, and two for an arena in Bellevue. Each submitted application costs $10 mil. Las Vegas, Quebec City, and Toronto/Hamilton/South Ontario will have bids submitted too. Only Vegas and Quebec have arenas being built.

Never realized that the Duluth Eskimos / Kelly's were always an away team as a money-making venture. Duluth rarely saw the team, if ever. Maybe Proctor could get a team the same way, just by taking a share of the home teams gate and the NHL NBC contract.
-
It needs legislative action for state money.

http://prohockeytalk.nbcsports.com/2015/07/07/bucks-threat-to-move-to-las-vegas-or-seattle-has-an-nhl-angle/ Milwaukee Bucks threatening to move to either Vegas or Seattle if a new arena isn't built to suit their taste.

Small towns have a history of hosting the Winter Games. Bozeman can be just as capable as Squaw Valley, Lake Placid, Lillehammer, or the tiny S Korean town upcoming. The NHL requires a massive nearby population to seĺlout games for seven months, nevermind a big local corporate presence. Proctor has a lot better chance to be taken seriously with an Olympic bid, but they don't have alpine venues.
-
The city council of Proctor needs some proctologists to examine their brain matter, unless they have a $300 MIL arena, a prospective owner with $500 MIL lining his pocket, and a plan to be a suburb of Milwaukee instead of Duluth. Maybe Fargo will push for an NHL team in the FargoDome too!

So Leppke is in town on a visit according to Twitter. Nice arm. http://www.scout.com/college/fresno-state/story/1542613-local-quarterback-on-bulldogs-radar?s=164

Idaho and NMSU will be in the Belt through the 2017 football season. After the '15 season, they will be notified that they will be kicked out after the '17 season. So for Idaho and maybe NMSU, they could use an FBS Big Sky starting 2018. 2019 is the year that UND would need at least 15k seats per an FBS transition, if it so chooses. When Idaho gets notice after this season the Belt is kicking them out, suspect the Sky will spring into action.

I edited the above. We have to be AAU before they would consider us as an affiliate. Would take billions in research grants, buildings, high level profs, etc, and twenty years at least.
-
Football and academics steer the boat. If any of those schools got in the Big Ten, they would be asked to start hockey and lacrosse for programming sake. Our only chance to be associated with a P5 is if some PAC12 schools started hockey and they asked UND and Denver to be affiliates. If we became AAU, we'd have a chance to be an affiliate just like Johns Hopkins. That would take billions and twenty or more years.
-
The Big Sky only needs six for an FCS autobid and two more non football to split into FCS and FBS conferences. But splitting means seven schools have to be together for seven years in the new conference (like the Big East did with the American).
-
At least our waste was only $10 mill. Their wastE was nearly $40 mill.

No. UND almost has to be AAU too and ND has to be as big as Nebraska. The B12 only is interested in schools like UVA, UNC, GA Tech, Vandy, Mizzou, Kansas, Oklahoma, and Texas. Iowa St won't get in and they have all the academic and facility requirements. Oklahoma could get in even though it's not AAU, but it's an exception because it's football is good for ratings and its academics is arguably better than Nebraska in population and fan base.

Ever noticed that UND women's team plays a DI Lindenwood? http://www.lindenwoodlions.com/index.aspx?path=whockey All three of those schools used to be NAIA, and only now are eligible for DI mens hockey. The WCHA commission must be entirely loony as he mentioned an unnamed Canadian school might join the WCHA. The only one eligible is Simon Fraser, the only DII in Canada.

The CEO of the proposed $4 billion ethane cracker talks about the synergies with fertilizer plants. Jamestown and Grand Forks just happen to have fertilizer plants in the planning stages. Also, there is so much ethane and propane around that building plants to make gasoline from those components may be feasible. The CEO will be in Grand Forks at the end of the month. Hmmm. http://thebakken.com/articles/1192/qa-ndundefineds-record-breaking-bakken-gas-plastics-project-update

The WCHA and you have some serious issues by failing to understand Arizona State will not go to the WCHA. It's a league mostly full of DII schools, not that there's anything wrong with that, but ASU is not going to sully it's reputation going that direction. If ASU goes to the NCHC, it's either with another PAC12 school, like Arizona, or with Bowling Green. Bowling Green is leaving the WCHA no matter what, and they may take Ferris with them to a new league based around Lake Erie, as BHSU can't stand the travel or being consigned to a league that is mostly DII schools. No matter what happens, the WCHA will need more teams, whether it is Simon Fraser, Minot State, or Lindenwood. Deal with it. The WCHA is hardly in a position where it can be picky. Black Hills State was only mentioned as a long term potential add because Spearfish has a new arena complex coming aboard. If you don't to know about new arenas, don't read here.
-
So they moved to DII to get the football program higher? No. Hockey is the name of the game in Minot, just like Bemidji. The AD there even said it once, that want hockey at DI, but recanted it because it got them in trouble with the Northern Sun. Going DII gives them an option for DI hockey. Their club teams operate at ACHA Div I, the same level as Arizona State and their a power team at the level.
-
So why is the WCHA trying so hard for Arizona State if they hate the idea of 11 and bad travel? The answer is that Simon Fraser will be added to the league as soon as another western team is also found. Four western teams could have their own division and the WCHA teams would no longer have to travel to Alaska twice in a year. Minot State wouldn't add a team now because they would be sent to an Alaska/western division. Black Hills St has aspirations to be the university of western SD, which is why they left the DAC to move to the RMAC. The attendance of the Rapid City Rush of the ECHL has gotten notice. Not saying BHSU will happen, but the WCHA will practically take any school out west if it means getting rid of their expensive Alaska problem of going their twice a year.
-
A little off the wall, but a 4300 seat rink with another sheet of ice is proposed for Spearfish. They want to attract a NAHL team and SD tournaments. Could Black Hills St add hockey and join the WCHA? BHSU is DII now and would be eligible. http://www.bhpioneer.com/article_85af189a-1f3f-11e5-83b6-cb29cfaf1492.html?mode=jqm

Never mind that a forum I started and stated that oil will have a much more profound effect on ND and UND's future than seemed possible five years ago came true. Your Bison buddy and pretty much all bison ville said I was a loon five years ago for stating such nonsense. How'd that work out?
-
So how did UND comply with ADA before? ADA was in existence before VB moved out of Hyslop.
-
The whole premise of starting sand volleyball is that UND will be at a severe disadvantage in the Big Sky without it. Sacramento St now has 12 court Volleyball schollies and 6 more equivalency scholarships for sand (maybe up to 12 more players), who can also play court. Sacramento St will have much more depth and a massive recruiting advantage. Its pretty simple to comprehend, I would hope.
-
Absolutely no creativity on your part. But then again, creativity from an NDSU grad is practically unknown, as that's been used a zillion times at bisonville. So if it's not a lovefest for NDSU here you object, so pointing out the lunacy of bisonvile Bakken predictions is unacceptable. But somehow the continuous UND hate and mockfest at bisonvile is acceptable, embraced, and required. Hypocritical Bison trolls here.
-
UND could be in an autobid league with Nebraska, TCU, Boise St, San Jose St, New Mexico, and Grand Canyon. Notre Dame has also started sand, but few other P5 teams in the East or Midwest have started sand. A number of the schools starting sand have express stated it is to help their Volleyball program, as the six scholships for sand can be divided up and given to non-schollie court players - like indoor and outdoor track and x-country overlapping each other. Nebraska uses their court head coach to coach sand, and most of their games have been tournament in Arizona, California, and Hawaii, which doesn't hurt recruiting. Would expect more B1G, Big 12, MWC, and WAC teams to start it. It may come to the point that not having sand will severely impact any Volleyball program, like having indoor track but not outdoor.

Those morons at bisonville have been talking about the inevitable collapse of Williston for five years running. Nothing you've said dissociates them from you.
