The impending merger of TAMU-Corpus Christi with TAMU-Kingsville will create another FBS wanna be school. They don't want to be left behind by UTRGV when it get football.
-
It be kind of neat to contemplate UND attendance with a rated team. Wichita St, Northern Iowa and even Creighton have had highly rated teams and drew several thousand. Think UND would max out at 2000 average.
-
It imploded thanks to Minot State. But the more widespread North Star Conference was later berthed. Minot State effectively raised athletic costs at all smaller ND institutions.
-
So why exactly did Minot St move to DII? It doesn't buy much, except an outlet for a chance at DI hockey. Throw hockey out the window, and Minot State just accrued more bills.
-
The Coyotes are building a 4k arena for practice and ASU and another 16k rink for games in Tempe.
-
Another person that isn't capable of strategic thinking.
-
Never thought they could afford DII. Somehow they found money. The only reason to go DII was so hockey could go DI later, as they have done zilch in DII but have higher bills. But OK, if you insisted on underestimating Minot St.
-
The Arizona Coyokes will announce a new arena today in Tempe or Mesa.
-
Minot St has better potential facility access, All Seasons Arena, than what Arizona St has now. Why can't Minot St be another Bemidji St? Minot is much wealthier now than in the past and it has historically been a power ACHA program, which takes money. A major driver of DI hockey is decent existing facilities. Even the dregs of the AHA are almost all upgrading to first class digs, when many thought that American International, Bentley, Holy Cross, and Sacred Heart would drop hockey. Denver and CC might want more SW schools, but it also wants UND and Omaha. Miami and W Mich are the odd men out, and they will have to get a new CCHA built. Duluth and St Clown might be looking at the WCHA again, but further down the road. UND is the class of DI hockey, and any western league would want us.

Seems like Pryor is going for extremely athletic outside hitters that can also play the back row and be very versatile in the mold of Fraase and Merseli. Usually, there are defensive specialists recruited, but not anymore. The defensive specialists aren't typically scholarship recipients.
-
Thanks. I was remembering back before they expanded the playoff to 24. The rules were different when they had 16 and then 20 teams.
-
UND averaged 1108 people per match, and we didn't have any other Dakota schools at home. Pretty classy that Pryor thanked Ashlee Hardee for laying the groundwork for the program.

Looks like UND will be seeded in the top 8, which means UND will get effectively three weeks to heal. From my memory, only the top three seeds are assured of home games. The rest of the five seeds have to put in a bid, and if the eight winners in the first round put in higher bids than those UND, UND isn't assured of a home game. Is that Correct or have the home seeding rules Changed? Some of the brackets list Grand Forks as the site of the first game. Also, the NCAA will schedule at least one Friday night game each weekend for TV. Since UND plays BC in Madison Square Gardens on Sat, June 3rd, it would make some sense if UND tried to get an Alerus games on Friday night Dec 2nd. How much control would if any would UND have on the timing of home games?

The Alaska schools aren't cutting any sports, but will do some major fundraising to save some sports like skiing. The Alaska schools petitioned the NCAA to drop to eight sports each, under the DII minimum of ten. The NCAA responded that they don't grant permission to violate it's rules, but they do offer forgiveness in certain cases. So the Alaska schools didn't want to rely on NCAA forgiveness and are fundraising now for skiing and athletics in general. With the Alaska schools still hurting financially, would not surprised if the WCHA offered Simon Fraser a spot and temporarily gave Ariz St membership for a couple years while it's rink is being built. A new western division could be formed, where schools won't get a travel subsidy to go to Alaska. The Minnesota and eastern schools wouldn't have to go to Alaska more than once, saving major dollars and time. The WCHA will have to have a replacement lined up for Ariz St when it gets a new rink and the NCHC offers it. Ariz St needs a conference schedule soon to give it a chance at an NCAA autobid. Minot State could be the WCHA's choice to replace Ariz St. If UNLV or SDSU go ahead with hockey, Mankato is stuck in the WCHA.

NORTH DAKOTA vs. Denver - SATURDAY Gameday ********

Have confidence that Coach Berry will make adjustments. -
Bubba knows how to motivate and lead and coach. Can't give him enough credit. His players love and respect him so much, as he teaches selflessness by example. Recruits see the joy on the current players faces, and want to sign up. Couldn't be happier for them.

UND just needs crowds of 2000+ of support to spike their way to the dance. Most teams dont have the home crowd environment that UND has. UNC and ISU beat UND on the road, and UND is playing much more powerfully now than when they lost to those schools. if UND continues playing like they have recently, don't think they will lose a set.
-
Stopped following the game in the early 4th qtr to get some yard work done. Boy was I surprised when I returned. Weber St over Cal Poly N Colo over Montana UND and EWU look like the only sure BSC playoff teams now. If UND gets seed and a bye, three weeks can accumulate some rust.
-
The way that they are playing they probably can compete for a middle position in a P5 league. Win against N Colo, the conference tournament and maybe they can pull off an upset or two in the NCAAs. Next year they maybe even get rated in the top 40 or higher.
-
Was the best game they have ever played, IMHO of course. The back line was phenomenal, and the hitting seemed more powerful and placed better when appropriate.

Grand Forks isn't more liberal than Fargo now
SiouxVolley replied to SiouxVolley's topic in Community
A lower retail tax relative to Fargo will attract a more diverse retail and restaurant locales. The lower Trump corporate tax and faster depreciation will likely allow the proposed ammonia plant in Grand Forks and the ethane cracker in ND to get financing. -
I'm a futurist thinking person, an INTJ , which is the rarest personality. We figure things out by logic. Most consider us boring, and that is certainly true here. Elon Musk is another INTJ. https://www.16personalities.com/intj-personality

Talk from the MVFC and Slummit Commissioners on the media is just deafening. They can't believe that UND wants to join apparently. Kennedy will soon get his Cart Blanche as far as conferences go. WAC anyone.

Pardon the election results, but Grand Forks has often been considered the most liberal city in North Dakota. Fargo seems to be clearly in the lead now. Here are the major counties are how they voted on Trump vs Hillary Cass- 49.3 to 38.8 Grand Forks - 53.8 to 35.7 Stutsman - 66.3 to 24.5 Burleigh - 67.8 to 22.7 Ward - 68.0 to 21.0 Morton - 71.6 to 19.5 Williams - 78.7 to 13.5 Stark - 79.2 to 14.2 In addition, Schneider, Oversen and Triplett all lost their legislative seats in spite of two of them being in UND's district, which is historically unprecedented, and a new city sales tax was defeated. While having conservative leaning, would prefer a two party state, as that is healthier.

Jay Z and Beyonce pocketed at $62 million check from a certain campaign to get out the black and hipster vote at a "free" concert in Cleveland. That didn't seem to help that campaign, but Beyonce is loaded even more now.
