With the Big Ten now allowing FCS games again, a UND-Gopher game seems inevitable. The Gophers have played all the Dakotas except us since DII days.
-
Wow. The WCHA is actually resorting to crowd funding to keep the women's game alive.

NDUS Budget Cuts (changed name to be system-wide)

Understand that someone has recently graciously given matching funds so that if anyone endows an athletic scholarship, there is an immediate 50% match for more athletic scholarships. -
Newspaper reports have linked him with Oregion and Gonzaga. He's can grad transfer.

Now there might be another NHL expansion player. Les Alexander will sell the Houston Rockets. Since he controls the Toyota Center and hasn't wanted an NHL team and basically expelled an AHL team, a new owner could be a bidder. Houston has a massive amount of corporate support, much of it from the North. Houston could easily be an NHL city if it had an arena, and now one might be open for the NHL.

http://www.news-gazette.com/news/local/2017-07-18/new-arena-downtown-champaign.html Maybe this is what it takes to get Illini hockey

Suspect a new business school will be announced later. This is just clearing the way for a grander University Avenue.

Another message board reports that Big Sky Watch is moving to Pluto.tv , which has many current channels. http://pluto.tv

When IPFW and Robert Morris get invited to the Horizon soon, as RMU needs time to get its lax and fb straightened out, crap is really going to hit the fan. Idaho's President is waiting to place demands on a Summit football conference of all research schools.
-
Kennedy is planning a demo and remodel, and the Slummit will be a true Summit when we get in. Research and academics matter. IUPUI wasn't wanted according to your bisonvile pals, but the Horizon Presidents sure wanted their academics. http://www.midmajormadness.com/2017/7/12/15960170/ That's why Big Sky Presidents of academic and research universities want a better league that they can do business with in things other than athletics. College presidents and athletics conferences have more exclusive dynamics than wealthy country clubs.

Drew the troll out of retirement. Shame on me. These trolls think everything happen instantaneously. The only thing that will happen in the near term is the further abandonment of the Slummit, which you consistently assured us wouldn't happen.
-
Doesn't appear Augie, the one DII to express interest, is getting a bite from the Summit: http://www.argusleader.com/story/sports/college/augustana-university/2017/07/13/augie-summit-dont-hold-your-breath/473114001/ So at least one existing DI will likely come over
-
Your fellow troll 56bison73 always pew-pewed me because he disagreed with my assertion that the Summit was not stable. Guess he was just a dim-whitted blowhard as you say.
-
The rumor is Pew-Uew Fecal Waste wants off the Summit Express too! Should we beg PU-FW to stay once they get their new name?

Thought that Augustana would be better off adding DI hockey than going entirely DI, like it's talking. That would better cement Augie in the Northern Sun too. Concordia-St Paul could be another add. But both are beyond remote. Those schools don't have leadership and donors that even care about hockey. Speaking of Jamestown and NAIA, read the Wolverine-Hoosier Conference is starting to sponsor hockey under the NAIA banner. The team wills be Indiana Tech, Lawrence Tech, Mich-Dearborn, Aquinas College and Rochester College. Concordia-Ann Arbor will start one year later.

The NCAA pays for playoff travel. There is a way around it as boosters could pay for trips to "bad red" states. Texas, Alabama, Mississippi, Kentucky, North Carolina, Oklahoma, and Tennessee have been banned too, and Ohio and Idaho might be added. North Dakota, Utah, Montana, and Wyoming might be added too. Any games already scheduled are exempt, but next year is a problem. The WAC is effected as Bakersfield can not travel to UTRGV. Maybe the MWC too, as Boise St might be off limits to San Jose St, San Diego St, and Fresno St travel. Interesting that California hasn't banned foreign travel to countries that have Sharia law, honor killings etc. Guess California is very tolerant of non-US egregious laws, but the slightest bathroom mandating gender rules that it finds horrible the US must be punished.
-
As always, you are conflating talking with a Southpaw level person, with someone like Deanna Zina talking with a billionaire. The athletic department would only have one person, Faison, who would be privy to info.
-
The plan was FBS. WAC was the only vehicle to do that at the time.
-
The UC Davis and Cal Poly would never chose a Summit Football League affiliation unless the Big Sky kicked them out. The Big Sky teams often depend on California for recruiting. Why would they be kicked out?
-
This coming year has been carefully planned out for a decade. Dropping baseball had everything to do with taking over the Summit with new football teams, but admittedly I don't have proof.
-
Dom Izzo doesn't have solutions for the Summit League quandary, as he says it's facing dissolution: http://bisonmedia.areavoices.com/now-what-for-the-summit-league/ He hasn't considered going west though, with football. UND dropping baseball was either a mad genius move to get football in the Summit, or it was profoundly stupid.
-
Here's an article that says the Summit may have to take Big Sky teams. http://www.midmajormadness.com/2017/6/29/15890852/ Relying on men's soccer and baseball to keep the Summit's autobid is pure lunacy from a Dakota perspective, as none have men's soccer and only two have baseball. Football should carry the day, and the NCAA gives it more credit while the Summit ignores it.
-
So the Fort Wayne newspaper is officially panic stricken over IPFW's lack of Horizon move. Think that justifies needing to find out-of-box answers instead of new DII moveups. http://www.news-sentinel.com/sports/column_the_time_is_now_for_fort_wayne_to_step_up_athletically_20170628
-
It only takes two years for football. But if NDSU, SDSU and USD join the Big Sky for fb only, and then break off two years later as a Summit Football League, they would have an immediate FCS autobid.
-
Augie could drop football and start men's soccer. Problem solved. Get Morningside too.
