For sure. I think a bigger rivalry was forged with them today.
-
This boils down to Tommy and the offense not playing the game they needed to play. Hard to fault the defense too much when the other team is gifted so much. The next time we play them will be different.
-
Anyone at the VB game? I am not able to be there today.

Here’s what’s going to keep the game close: 1. Alerus Center. We are just very hard to play against at home. 2. Diversified offense. We have multiple weapons both on the ground and through the air, a good play caller, plus a very smart QB who can scramble for yards or escape pressure until something opens up. 3. Defense that adjusts. We probably will look a little porous in the first quarter or half, but we will have things dialed in after a few series. Here’s what’s going to win the game: 1. Pressure on the QB, hopefully to force a turnover, like an interception or strip sack, or at least put them in 3rd/4th & Long. 2. A Special Teams play. Something like a fake punt, a big return, or blocked punt. 3. Crowd noise to cause penalties that put them in unfavorable down & distance.

UND @ The John vs. Goofs - THE RIVALRY Friday Gameday
Dustin replied to stoneySIOUX's topic in Men's Hockey
Update? Went into Sky’s and they said they don’t get the game. -
Are you saying “never for this game” or “never for any game”?
-
Question: Is SDSU better than they were in either of the 2021 seasons? If yes, in what ways?
-
UND closes the deal 25-23 with another tough fought set.
-
I would consider Norris, Olson, and Barber as main contributors, and they are all underclassmen. Ward and Stockman are graduate students.
-
Set 3 is a 26-24 win. UST was down by 6 early and actually took the lead at one point.
-
I sometimes think the same thing about how we have been able to get our 8 wins. Maybe UST is better than their record and we’re seeing it tonight.
-
I think they will be relevant in most sports most years. Solid addition, but they might take take away chances for conference championships from us
-
UND takes set 2 25-21 to even it up. Still struggling more than I would have thought against UST.
-
UND did not look too good in set 1, dropping it 25-22 to lowly St. Thomas.
-
Crowd has some mojo tonight with the band and lots of students.
-
So, we've got passes from Schuster to Schusted in our future?
-
Skokna was a big contributor in this game. With him out, we are going to need Isiah Smith to fill those shoes. I don't doubt that special teams will contribute something; probably a fake punt to keep a drive alive. I am also going to call a strip sack of Gronowski.
-
I actually think the game will turn out a lot like this.
-
I won't be in total shock if UND wins, but I will if the score is 14-2! 38-34 type of I game, I think, if UND is on the winning side.

Besides you guys, the best person I can have decent discussion of FCS football is a DIE-HARD Bison fan (I say die-hard because he's not going to be fair weather when the tides turn). Even my dad, a long-ago UND alum, who taught me to be a Sioux fan from birth, barely even mentions football, and is seemingly just as likely to bring up NDSU. We need some statement wins, and one of them will need to be against the Bison.
-
Most of my football buzz comes from this site, but I did overhear a guy wearing a "Sioux Football" hoodie talk about tailgating last night at BWW. He's probably a poster on this site
-
I usually do too, but I think going on offense first is the right move this time.
-
So, if we win the coin the toss, do we take the ball on offense? I think I would like to see that. First play a fake hand-off with a completed pass for about 30 yards to get right into SDSU territory.
-
Yeah, I had that thought, too.

That's exactly what I said over in the "What's needed at the Alerus" thread a few days ago. It doesn't seem to be hurting our home field advantage over the last few seasons.
