  1. -I think that the Jacks will probably have the same records as they had in the part, but their teams will be much better as they will be max out on football scholarships. -UND was not as good this year as they were in 2001 and 2003. -I believe that if UND loses Lennon it is in serious trouble.
  2. Sacramento State. Was offered the job, but turned it down which in hindsight was a very smart move. I can't see how he isn't on many peoples radar. I actually think he would make a decent DI(A) defensive coordinator. I don't know how well Lennon's amazing defense/whatever offense I've got policy would work too well as he moves up the food chain.
  3. you might want to rethink that Wanless is guiding Sac State on a road to nowhere. also, i think that recruiting an ad/moving up would take a lot of resources and i don't think you could do both at the same time. you might as well add another year to your transition, making it 2008-2009, which is actually a lot closer than one might think.
  4. When head to head in a previous post, I rated you guys as good/very good and sdsu as good. With SDSU with a year of DIAA experience, and yes Virginia, DIAA football is tougher on average than D2, and increasing scholarships, I think the Jacks will do fine. Despite your run in the playoffs, UND this year is not the same team as in the last few years. You also have a head coach who has been applying for jobs at other schools. I didn't say anything about the bison.
  5. i think most everyone believes that UND WOULD field a good DIAA team as far as SDSU, that's why i called them good, not great, just good
  6. One quick question UND-1. What was NDSU ranked at the end of the season? Keep telling yourself whatever you want, but be careful as you might end up following the path you have berated.
  7. exactly my point, pcm. I wouldn't say anything about SDSU/UND this year, you guys didn't play. Nor would I make conjectures about any games that didn't take place. I will however, state as an opinion, that SDSU has a respectable football team. They beat a top 25 team at home and nearly beat a top 25 team away (Poly). What was UND's record against DIAA teams? Maybe you should reference Kupchella's hate mail to degrade DIAA in it's entirety, I'm sure that Doug Fullerton really enjoyed reading it.
  8. SDSU did very well in its inaugural season in DIAA. They beat Southern and yes, the Bison. How did UND do against SDSU, Southern, or NDSU this year? It's basketball teams weren't dominant? the women won the national championship in 02-03 and the north central region the last three years. the men won the ncc three times under their current coach and have been in the regional eight of the last nine years. I don't see how the difference of a hundred miles takes SDSU off the plate when you add a radio/tv audience of 400-500k? (By the way Grand Forks adds 0, you're lucky that ABC continues to partition off the northern part of the valley)
  9. Under no circumstances do I believe that UND will be admitted to the Big Sky during their March meeting. The best that can be hoped for is that the Conference encourages them to move and pay the piper in no mans land. Then if UND makes the move they may get a 'surprise' of early admittance in 2007. I believe the conference got burned in the late 90's with a potential member not cutting muster, once bitten, twice shy.
  10. Davis and Cal-Poly only need/want a football home, though I'm sure they got the same letter UND did. I also politely disagree with your opinion that UND would be more valuable than SDSU. (first and foremost, let's be inclusive and realize this isn't a necessarily a 2 from the dakotas decision). SDSU has a good football team, very good basketball teams. They also bring the entire state of South Dakota to the table. They are in transition to being Division I. To be rude: UND has a good/very good football team, good/very good basketball (please believe, the BSC doesn't care about hockey, in fact it might be a liability); UND brings the northern valley; UND has made no commitment to DI (this is especially true as people have read Kupchella's letter, poopooing a conference/division/possible opponents when asking for them to leave the light on for you is NOT SMART). Also, why did it take UND so long to tell the Big Sky 'if we do go D1 we find the BSC very interesting'?
  11. this is simply a repitition of rumors: Sac State may move to the Big West to be closer to other California schools, rumors abound about Portland State as well, but they really have no serious alternative to the Big Sky
  12. They would have been far more IMO if a number of the UND faculty hadn't been so rude. The best case in point was the Department of Scandhovian Languages, or whatever its real name is, receiving $$$ and then declining it because of Ralph's mascot position. Why would you give any more money to the academic side of the institution just to hear that? Being wise, Ralph gave it to the most accepting group, the hockey fans.
  13. I disagree Sicatoka, I think it's because Saturday is the slowest news day of the week. While some may think it is a totally pointless story (and may be right), I think the Holy SH$t factor would have been much bigger it would have ran on a Tuesday.
  14. I'd just like to know why the Forum ran the story on Kupchella's letter on Saturday instead of any other day of the week.
  15. save the fact the letter was destined to become public the argument make sense. that's precisely why you save these comments for speeches behind closed doors and unrecorded phone calls. if chapman had used the words 'hate' and 'UND' in the same sentence you would be seeing a similar reaction
  16. Tried to start a new thread focused specifically on the Kupchella's letter. Apparently the biggest news out of UND since Ralph's threat to stop construction on the Arena doesn't merit it's own thread. I don't want to rile too many feathers and I do know that I'm going out on a limb here but I believe that Kupchella, and Thomas will be gone by June 30th. Lennon may or may not leave depending on the opportunities available. I'm kind of surprised by the content of the letter. Kupchella did as good a job as possible with Mascot/Ralph issue just to write a completely unprofessional letter? Isn't lesson 101 in covering your butt: think whatever you want, but put nothing down on paper?
  17. http://www.in-forum.com/articles/index.cfm...&section=Sports this sioux fans is very embarassing in my book any thoughts?
  18. I don't think the guys going to lose his job for enforcing the rules. Kupchella might for breaking them. This has to be rather embarassing for the University.
  19. that's funny
  20. it's not the duplication it's the fact that UND opened a "Center" in Fargo students will still be able to continue their programs it was the 'packaging' of the program that got NDSU and the SBHE riled up. the program must be administered from Grand Forks and UND may no longer advertise "UND-Fargo"
  21. you obviously have no idea what the telepharmacy situation was/is ndsu developed a program (telepharmacy) UND wanted to develop a VAGUELY similar program (distance-medical) UND wanted to take what NDSU had done & the MONEY they had to manage/operate their new program, there is a difference between collaboration and taking someone else's program as an academic myself, sh-t like that can lead to seriously upset researchers, especially when you realize that a university/department takes a 40% cut off the top for administration so yeah, taking $340,000 ($850*.4) out of NDSU's pocket is a VERY big deal
