that's exactly what i was waiting for, i hope that the process goes well for you guys, with that report i think we should start a new thread things are definitely serious must make that jerk who said you have neither the letter nor the stamp feel kind of silly right now (the wday report did say that UND had yet to send a letter, though there is clearly strong interest)
-
sorry, should have used was, instead of is,
-
that was the number for 2000, not the early 90's when it was built, and i'm sure the didn't pick the cheapest method in order to help "sway" the voters
-
1400 per year is a pretty fair number when compared to women's DI basketball also, the Dome was designed and can take ice, all that is need is $40k for the compressors and community interest in hockey
-
The difference is that those are outdoor stadiums and are more easily expandable, the Alerus is stuck being the size that it is Also, I have a little difficulty believing women's hockey will be a revenue generator, though it should get to break even, is the interest really there?
-
Here's the big question How much does Hockey Net in a Year? How much does/will Women's Hockey Cost? How much fundraising will UND have to do/if any in order to meet DI Title 9 requirements? I'd be happy to hear wild guesses. Also, there are a few websites that have dollar figures, but everyone seems to do their accounting a little differently.

1. calm down 2. read my old posts i never implied a jab at your hockey program
-
your post makes no sense, if you had read the posts the logical parallel would be for UND to join the Big Ten ie we've been writing about the Sioux, you know here on this "siouxsports" board, a few individuals pointed out that UNDs hockey program is valuable, i conceded that it is valuable as a program, but the fact that it's hockey doesn't help because the BSC as well as most conferences care little for the sport, so you bring up the Big Ten who also don't care for the sport at the conference level what does that have to do with the Bison?
-
i agree with your post, but there are costs that go along with your program as well,
-
-
i'm sure he was impressed, but i do wonder in the back of his head if he was wondering how a hockey school, with its benefits and obligations, would fit in the Big Sky trust me, no Big Sky schools give a hoot about hockey as a sport

facility improvements? you guys have an indoor track, must have put it up over the weekend
-
Are you serious, you don't think that SDSU has an advantage over you in basketball?
-
i'll take your first point, but neither UND nor NDSU is going to make it to the big dance barring a real shakeup somewhere #2 Idaho was/is never going to move back down, you sound like a delusional Grizzly Fan #3 The Big Sky has long seen teams come and go, check their history. Sac State will likely be moving to the Big West, but this isn't big news, those of us who have been following DIAA for a little while know this stuff first hand. Also, my own feeling toward San Jose State is that they will probably drop football. Montana, is happy where it is, they've seen their old rival Idaho become a shell of its former self after their move.
-
also you ain't joining the MAC Mid-Continent maybe, MAC, i don't think so
-
there's the first bit of real press on it, even if it is an editorial when it makes the front page of the sports page, without an editors name on it, i'll give it even more credence also, i never expected the Big Sky to make any news as far as potential new members. things are very interesting
-
like i said i'd even take my information from CBS by the way if there is a story there MrFeely would be one of the first guys to break it his on everyone's bad side
-
s2city your proposition that this might be the first of a series of stories that UND is moving makes a lot of sense i don't buy into the plan that this has been in the works for three to five years, there is no way that the administration would have made the negative remarks about the almost certain downfall of NDSU because of their move, whose situation is in a number of ways quite similar to UND's, only to announce that they would be doing the same thing while some posters may disagree nothing seismic has happened in the last few months to change anything 1. You knew that you were going to have some world class facilities in place by this fall 2. You knew that there was pressure to decrease the maximum number of football scholies (I don't think anything will come of it, at the worst it would drop to 30) 3. Most of you could probably admit that NDSU, at worst, would be 'ok' during its transition the open invitation for letters of interest by the Big Sky is about the only thing that's happened and that shouldn't be huge news as they have had varied membership for years I'm awaiting press stories to tell me what's been happening at UND
-
my fault, i didn't take the report from the Dakota Student too seriously why nothing in the Herald or Forum or television, hell even CBS for that matter if this thing had legs there'd be real press involved, in fact upon rereading RT's comments, it doesn't sound, at least with any degree of certainty, like the slightest thing official is occuring
-
the alerus is not in the same league as the dome, the city of grand forks got ripped off on an over priced tin can that being said, you guys have outstanding facilities for DI, but that's not what makes a team DI (you also have the quality programs, coaches, players and infrastructure to be DI) For those of you who continue to think you'll make a jump to an 'established conference' why would they take you? you have made zero commitment, actually in the last three years you've come up with every reason under the sun why a system similar to yours in many respects would be doomed! no one affiliated with your university has made the slightest public overtures that could possibly construed as the possibility of you moving, yet the conspiracy theory runs rampent, the best proof you have is an article by McStupid in the Forum! and yet the rumors continue
-
by the way guys, I-94 terminates in Billings! we new that Montana Tech and Valpo were jokes, but we needed to fill our schedule which a little difficult to do the year of transition you guys chose to schedule Ferris State, which is fine, but trying to pretend that the game will be interesting/competitive is almost as bad as the advertising blitz we used to convince people to show up for Valpo
-
they might cut it to 30, but the 24 that the RMAC and Penn Schools were recommending won't happen it shouldn't happen at all, if you can't compete, then you can't compete
-
so what you're saying is that RT is the Real Slim Shady?
-
you guys are using McFeely as a reference? you are nuts
