  1. I think you might want to segregate your links (and maybe create a new thread) to discuss the equity issue and the connectnd issue separately. With regards to the latter, I am surprised that there hasn't been more press on UND's experiences in implementing PeopleSoft.
  2. I don't think that interest and attendance in women's hockey will ever lead to any school's program breaking even. With regards to NDSU, we have A LOT of fundraising to do ($1.4 million for scholies next year, versus $1 this year)
  3. Happy to see Crystal City made the list, my wife and I spent most of our Sundays during the Fall of '02 watching Packers' games in the basement.
  4. i think it's silly too, but tell that to all the national media outlets that have reported on it in the last year.
  5. From my stand point, GF and Fargo and extremely similar AS ARE MOST CITIES IN THE UNITED STATES. Here's a short list: of unique things, the employers and cultural things that make us slightly different than other cities Unique things about GF: University Sioux Hockey AFB The Flood Unique Things about Fargo: University Trendy Downtown (a little too trendy for me) Microsoft Noridian You pull these things out of the equation (a couple of other things I missed) and we are living in the SAME d$#n town, sure Fargo is bigger, big deal We've got a Target and a Walmart and ..... This is the same situation nationwide.
  6. thanks for the information, I was wondering if he ever went into the city. I googled it this morning and saw a couple photos, brought back some bad memories
  7. I don't think he spent much time in the city, though he was a the air base and gave a little speech.
  8. Nice to know you have self control Good for you! You're right about them being tech jobs considering one needs either a high school diploma or GED, two years of customer service, and basic knowledge of computers! Sorry about that, I must be a moron! (Especially when you have no verification of your 'average salary'; also, many English speakers use to the word 'call' to denote either making or receiving a telephone call, sorry about that one too!)
  9. -I've enjoyed reading this thread as I grew in rural North Central North Dakota and Grand Forks was our regional 'everything center' -Fargo/Grand Forks are the same market as far as the FCC is concerned. I've often wondered how long wday/wdaz will continue to run seperate news broadcasts.
  10. The surest sign of being a crappy town is when you boast of landing a call center.
  11. I wouldn't say the best but two $30 million pork barrel projects for GFAB is pretty good. When Trent Lott was majority leader he 'added' wording to defense appropriations bills that have led to the construction of billions of dollars of ships that the navy didn't ask for.
  12. yep.
  13. and a new one, Conrad worked hard for millions of dollars in new home construction out there.
  14. And why are there still bombers in Minot?
  15. I brought it up because the BRAC will have recommendations in by May 16th, which isn't that far away. Thought people concerned with Grand Forks and the University might be interested, I didn't know there was a previous thread, which is outdated (and contains a couple of errors) anyways.
  16. It definitely is, but I don't see us flying bombers to Moscow anytime soon. I think that Fargo would be hurt if the Happy Hooligans left, which they might, but I think the closure of the base would devastating for Grand Forks and the state.
  17. While, there seems to be plenty of interest in the Fargo/GF post, I think another possibly more relevant thread might focus on the possibility and effect of the closure of the air base on the city and county of Grand Forks, the University, as well as the State as a whole. Though we are fortunate to be a rural state, giving us extra weight in Washington with regards to making BRAC a big priority, both GFAB and Minot really are bases without justifiable missions. The loss would be devastating. How much would it affect UND and how? Any thoughts?
  18. The University had been focused on Troy State who made the move from D2 to DI as it was a program we were relatively familiar with. There are things to learn from Boise State and I think more focus may have been placed on them lately due to our recent experiences with the Big Sky (bastards).
  19. Boise has exploded in the last ten years, moving from 400,000 to 500,000 people in the metro. I think a better example for a school to follow is Troy (State).

but the exception doesn't prove the rule. Kimbrough is a great recruit.

i probably shouldn't have started the thread anyways. i think you wasted a very good article on a thread that was on a one way trip to smacksville. if i would have only spelled pedestal right, none of this would have happened
  22. I think you'll have to dance alone on this one.
