  1. That is probably a lower bound for the difference. Most flexible fuel vehicles go about 2/3 to 3/4 the distance on E85 than they do on gasoline. At $2.20 a gallon you'll need about $1.65 E85 to brake even. With the fuel tax brake in North Dakota you'll probably save money in the short run.
  2. I wasn't drawing a general comparison to universities in the United States. Also, I would have used Georgia Tech for Atlanta not Georgia State. ? Also, it's a pretty faulty parallelism. Unless I've missed something all of those communities have been relatively prosperous in last decade or so.
  3. That's better than in Des Moines where every other street light is left off to save money due to budget issues.
  4. i agree with you 100%.
  5. That's a pile of horsesh*t. I've given up on repeating what I've already said as its is clearly not being communicated well, for which I will gladly take some responsibility. It's kind of difficult having a three day discussion about a complex topic, even more so when certain individuals immediately think that I've got a sinister motive just because I'm the fan of a particular sports team. Making a comment which is intended to be a complement and automatically being labeled as two-faced or backhanded gives me little reason to continue the conversation. That being said, I bet that PCM, Eskimo, and I could sit down and have the same conversation and agree on 90% of things, that just isn't possible in an online forum.
  6. Anyways......
  7. Not really, I did and still do use the word as a compliment and not an insult, but you can take it for what you want.
  8. My comments followed the direction that the thread was taking, though it had little to do with the original intent. Funny that you criticize me for changing the topic when I didn't and then you go on to bring up Bison football?
  9. Once again beauty is in the eye of the beholder. There is a lot of "show" in Grand Forks which has replaced a lot of substance.
  10. You're not mistaken. Grand Forks was dealt one of the all time sh/%tiest hands in the last decade and you've stood your ground.... and built a $100 million arena (I didn't forget about you PCM)
  11. Let me amend that. For the most part Grand Forks survived and a guy gave the University a $100 million for an arena.
  12. The Metro would probably have an extra 5,000 people as well. A lot of the construction was to replace infrastructure that was lost. Grand Forks got some showy new buildings, but it also lost a pretty decent downtown.
  13. The point is that BRAC and the flood had and will continue to have a tremendous effect on the Grand Forks community. In light of what has and will happen Grand Forks has done surprisingly well. Just imagine where Grand Forks would be if the flood had never happened or if you still have 6,000 folks working just west of town. You picked the correct word for Grand Forks for the last eleven years: survive. During this time the FM metro area has continued to grow.
  14. I really don't like the my dad can beat up your dad thing going on. The big difference between the two cities is GROWTH! Grand Forks was hit by the '95 BRAC, the '97 flood, and now the '05 BRAD. It has done very well considering these events, but unless something changes Fargo will be leaving GF in the dust. This economic growth will have a marked effect on the Universities and their athletic departments. The interstate is being enlarged based on FORECASTED traffic demand. The NDDOT who is in charge of the job did the analysis and provided the required state match to receive federal funds. They are also currently widening 45th and planning on adding an exit on 9th Ave in West Fargo as well as considering adding an interchange (or two) on I-29 in South Fargo in the next five years. Grand Forks would be seeing this if they hadn't been moving sideways for the last decade for the aforementioned reasons.
  15. James Madison. What does this have to do with the ESPN poll?
  16. there were three ayes and six nayes GFAB will not be placed on the list.
  17. Closure will cost $3 million dollars less than realignment and save $674 million dollars more over the next 20 years.
