  1. Potentially, yes. Real hockey parents will understand who Bubs is though. But to your point, you are probably right.
  2. I know right. I actually am really behind that idea. I don't think it's an option now. Sounds like Fighting Hawks will end up being the name.
  3. I don't think it had much to do with Hak leaving...Bubs is a very solid coach and is well respected. This kid is from Dallas, his parents probably got an earful from some CHL scout about the upside of the CHL and that is the route he's taking. The "fast track". His parents aren't "in the know" I'm guessing. What is telling is that many former hockey guys push the college route, unless their kids are phenoms early, because they know the business and know how important getting a degree is. I think the CHL are great leagues however there is a significant amount of risk going there too. Only the elite should be playing in the CHL.
  4. That is exactly what will happen...for a very long time.
  5. You're probably right about the majority however not me. If a new name has to be chosen I simply wanted it to be something neat and unique. Now that it will most likely be Fighting Hawks or even RR and just think that the effort and $ put into this didn't wow us. I guess I was expecting a little more, that's all. I knew there would be disagreements but I thought there would be at least a couple names I could buy into when we narrowed it down to 5. Honestly, doesn't it feel like we are settling here? I mean if you go back two years, do you think there would be overwhelming support for any of the remaining 5 names? Maybe RR for the die hards. Also, as you seemed to pick on my posts, by sad day I simply meant that yesterday was the date that we lost our old nickname. Sure we officially lost it earlier but for many yesterday kind of hit home. Just a sad day, many others (not sitting on this forum) agree with me too.
  6. Huh? Please clarify, I don't care about sources I'm simply trying to understand what you mean.
  7. "Real artists don't copy, they steal" - Bill Gates However, NS isn't getting chosen. It will be Fight'n Hawks.
  8. Unfortunately I completely agree with you. After last night I am going to guess that it will be fighting hawks.
  9. Wait to pick a decent name. Of the 5 only 2 are marginally close to even being somewhat above terrible. You do realize Simpson, commodore and Mario wore the Sioux logo, correct?
  10. Did Simpson wear it? Mario? Commodore? Either way I get it, that name is gone. I simply think its a tad early to switch, especially given the 5 remaining names. I believe the backlash is warranted. It's all over twitter right now.
  11. In regards to roughriders, were those the only reasons they gave? Roughriders seems to be fading. Which could be terrible if stars is out. The remaining names are terrible. How the hell did sundogs make it to the final 5?
  12. Sad day, looks like a lot of current and former players are noting their displeasure with this decision. Dillon Simpson's tweets are pretty intense and caggulias seemed pretty intense too.
  13. Not the least bit, have you read the remaining names. Are we really going to be the Fighting Hawks? We go from a great name to a vanilla name. I guess the logo could be neat. But that's it. How many colleges have some form of hawks as their nickname. I thought uniqueness was a requirement?
  14. We'll fill gerlach's spot. He is slick but he isn't high end. Somewhat shocked though, he doesn't project to be a first rounder or anything. His parents are probably pushing his "development". Some chl scouts filled their heads with bs. Hopefully this kid has something extra that gets him to the show. Sort of a salty post I know.
  15. Against the ropes, head down, swinging. I like it.

  18. He did have a decent amount of points his 18 and 19 year old years. However the comparison with Jost is a little apple and oranges as Jost didn't turn 17 until this past March I believe. There is some skill in the BCHL however it is not a very deep league like the USHL.
  19. Haha I saw you called him out too
  20. JT brought the cup to LOW.
  21. The only reason I threw that out there was the fact variations of the final names were in play. Stars could be considered a variation of north stars. It's obviously very unlikely but many are against north stars.
  22. Thank you.
  23. So...what are you saying?
  24. How about just stars? its a variation of north stars. In my opinion, its a better nickname than roughriders.
  25. Nice point. I believe there is a school in Boston that sounds a lot like BC as well. But your point is valid. It will take some getting used to if RR is chosen.
