That would make sense. Big, strong, athletic kid. On a side note, I skated with a kid who has skated quite a bit with Wilkie. From what I hear, Wilkie has an NHL shot right now too. I guess he won the hardest shot competition at the USHL all star skills challenge.
-
Johnson has a very heavy shot.
-
Right there with them.....obviously a much higher talent though. Much quicker release. His one timer is phenomenal. He has an NHL shot right now.
-
I saw the highlights from the USA White vs Sweden game, Boeser has an absolute bomb.
-
He just scored again. Shocked the Schmaltz-Matthews line isn't doing more, I wonder if they're letting their depth guys play more as the game is getting out of hand. The 10th goal was Boeser from Schmaltz. That sounds nice.

NCAA To Sanction UND if School Does Not Adopt New Nickname

NCAA To Sanction UND if School Does Not Adopt New Nickname
scpa0305 replied to Benny Baker's topic in UND Nickname
You're reaching. The NCAA will not hand out sanctions for not breaking a rule. The NCAA would be forced to hand out sanctions to other schools with no nickname (yes i know there are only a couple and are small schools but the point is the same), the NCAA would set precedent with und. If you simply want a new nickname just say it, others have. The thinking that the big bad NCAA will come down on us when we've already went through the process of removing the nickname and logo are ridiculous. The NCAA would be forced to adopt a rule that every school must have a nickname and that would have to be done very soon. -
It wont.

I think both of you are simply offering your opinions. BB's sounds slightly more plausible and yours seems like a worse case scenario. Now if UND was even a blip in the national scene I may agree the NCAA could focus on us more. Because we are not I doubt they spend significant time on us. Don't they have their hands full trying to keep the P5 football conferences from breaking off? -
The case for North Dakota as a standalone name (not a Sioux endorsemen
scpa0305 replied to ClassB's topic in UND Nickname
Again, it's he said she said. I will need concrete examples. The only decent one I've ever heard was the argument that IF the NCAA is mad we don't choose a nickname they could overlook our bids for NCAA sanctioned events (i.e regional sites in Fargo). -

As will I. As to your last statement, this is where we differ. There are many people who think the sky will fall if we don't choose one of these generic names. The reasons you give simply don't hold water to me. But this is only my opinion. -

I am going to hold onto several traditions until they become irrelevant. Believe me, I fully understand what the PC folks are doing and I fully understand what is right and what is wrong. Do I like the old nickname and logo, absolutely. Do I fully understand that it is never coming back, absolutely. Because I cherish the old nickname doesn't make me a bad guy . As I've noted over and over again, I am simply looking for a stunningly unique nickname to be chosen to replace the best nickname and logo there was in college sports. Fighting Hawks doesn't do it for me. Given the names remaining, my vote is for no nickname. -

. Pretty loud where we sit. Also, the sioux yelled after the anthem before the Quinnipiac game was one of my top sporting moments. I got Goosebumps. -

http://siouxfb.areavoices.com/2015/07/27/quite-the-recruiting-weekend/ Wait a minute....do these kids know we don't have a nickname? -
Very true, next week it will probably be something different. Before it was Fighting Hawks as a clear favorite and then there was some backlash on how generic it was.
-
It's ironic you say that, this past weekend at the lake I heard "a person in the know" spout off that it's between Fighting Hawks and North Stars. As I've mentioned before, I really do not like the Fighting Hawks nickname.

The sanctions are gone. I was referring to the fact that our recruiting, scheduling, and something else cm said would hurt if we didn't have a formal nickname. -

State facts then. Please give me concrete examples. The hockey team has been recruiting very well, has been playing well, and has scheduled some nice games. All while having no nickname. Everytime I go to the rink the und store is full; in every rink in the twin cities it is odd not to see at least one kid wearing und apparel. -
I agree with goon, these schools would have a few hoops to jump through however it would be interesting. I have always hoped Canadian schools would somehow join college hockey.

Everything you just mentioned is purely speculative and your opinion only (along with some other posters I guess). Nothing you said is fact. Especially the recruits comment. I think you are blaming the lack of football success on this nickname topic. -

I don't really agree with flickertails at all however your point couldn't be more accurate.
