Very true, next week it will probably be something different. Before it was Fighting Hawks as a clear favorite and then there was some backlash on how generic it was.

It's ironic you say that, this past weekend at the lake I heard "a person in the know" spout off that it's between Fighting Hawks and North Stars. As I've mentioned before, I really do not like the Fighting Hawks nickname.

The sanctions are gone. I was referring to the fact that our recruiting, scheduling, and something else cm said would hurt if we didn't have a formal nickname.

I am still looking for concrete examples to support the op's comments.

State facts then. Please give me concrete examples. The hockey team has been recruiting very well, has been playing well, and has scheduled some nice games. All while having no nickname. Everytime I go to the rink the und store is full; in every rink in the twin cities it is odd not to see at least one kid wearing und apparel.

I agree with goon, these schools would have a few hoops to jump through however it would be interesting. I have always hoped Canadian schools would somehow join college hockey.

Everything you just mentioned is purely speculative and your opinion only (along with some other posters I guess). Nothing you said is fact. Especially the recruits comment. I think you are blaming the lack of football success on this nickname topic.

That's because many thought it was settled by considering the name again. Obviously Kelley chose his words wisely. I hope many of you realize it is a long shot for roughriders to be chosen.....then what?

I use Nodak all the time, many of my buddies do too. But am not sold on the term for our school nickname.

It is our major NCAA sport and always will be. Also, NCAA popularity is increasing year over year along with the increase in hockey popularity (thanks to USA Hockey). College hockey TV viewing is also increasing rapidly. Lastly, NCAA hockey is easily just as popular as FCS football is to the main stream sports fan. Their championship games are broadcast on espn....that's about it.

A real vote that is representative. That committee is anything but representative.

And that's his opinion and I don't really agree with it. I watch a lot of sports and I never see media analysts talking about it more than 30 seconds or so. Also, over the past 3 years we have been in limbo in regards to a nickname. If and/or when North Dakota is chosen I believe the media will put it to rest. We would just be North Dakota and that sounds ok to me.
