  1. April? Anyways, his high school team page and his team Wisconsin u16 page says junior. Which makes sense. In all reality, his year in school (from a recruit standpoint) means a little less than his birth year. Year in school only tells year when he may be coming in...although he is pretty far out. This isn’t nearly a blue chip pick up but one that could pan out over time hopefully. I’m still waiting for some big time recruit.
  2. Can’t be right. He’ll be a senior this coming year.
  3. Berry and co need to be on Tyler Weiss. He looked pretty solid on that u18 team. If he chooses Denver I’ll puke.
  4. Hockey is a funny game, players can peak late. But no, he wouldn’t be close to the level as nick and Jordan were, at the same age. Jake played Wisconsin high school last year as a junior. Nick played in the ushl as a sophomore and Jordan played his junior and senior seasons in the Ushl. Both Nick and Jordan played Tier 1 for the Chicago Mission prior to heading to the ushl. In any case, Jake did put up some nice numbers. Hopefully Jake starts training with his cousins in the summers.
  5. Yeah he is. Taylor never really did anything until this year (as an over ager). Committed while blais was at the helm
  6. Nice get, probably more of a 4 year player but at least it’s a commitment and a familiar name. He’s done some damage in the Wisconsin prep circuit. Hopefully he goes to juniors....penticton would be a nice spot for him.
  7. Kid went to Miami....sure. Curious if there was any interest in UND. I know we don’t have the best history with Slovaks (recently) but curious if berry was out there. This kid is good. You have to believe we would be further up than Miami (I don’t care what his relationship with Maninno is). Maybe we don’t have room?
  8. Ryan St. Louis committed to NE. That’s a big get for them, one of the best bantams in the country. Young obviously , but his dad was ok.
  9. A good year? You mean an absolutely fantastic year. Guy scored 42 and was only paid 3.5. Highway robbery outside of entry level deals. Folks can bitch about fletch all they want however he’s drafted well lately and that staal deal was beauty (albeit easy...he wanted to come here).
  10. Moving forward I somewhat agree with you, however they were missing one of the leagues best defensemen for the entire series, missing Parise (who was white hot), and spurgeon had missed a ton of time prior to coming back game one of the playoffs. The odds were stacked heavily against them. WPG is legit. Also, it’s Staal not stall....guy scored 42 goals this year you should know how to spell his name :). Staal had to be one of the cheapest guys in the league last year. Phenomenal signing.
  11. Well they follow each other on the twitter machine...so there has obviously been communication between the two parties. He’s a high ender that’s for sure. Not very big though.
  12. Aiden hreshchuk to BC. Colossal commit.
  13. With the way recruiting is going, big teams need to throw that gentlemen’s agreement out the door.
  14. Yeah, Bowen could be the 4th line center. More and more teams are building lines around offensive production, have a top 9 approach vs a top 6/bottom 6 thinking. Bowen is more of an energy guy rather than a stat guy. Important player when healthy, just not a guy who’s going to put up points. You never know though. I’d rather see what Weatherby or hain, or even yon to an extent, can do in a top 9 role.
  15. Adams, definitely. I didn’t like how he looked in a bottom 6 role last year. I would honestly throw him on the top line and see what happens. i think Hoff needs to be our third center.
  16. None of them were drafted. Outside of Hoff, none of them did much in juniors (although Yon scored goals at a nice %, he’s simply doesn’t have the vision). I still think Hoff has a good year this year or next. He’s a battler. Doesn’t skate the best. I don’t think you can expect all that much offensively from players who were never offensive players at the previous level. Again, not talking about Hoff here. I’m agreeing with you here by the way . I think JJ needs to pick it up as well. He needs to have a big year this coming year. 25 pts or more. He was a pt per game guy in the USHL.
  17. Sure on any given year that be the case. My point was that UNDs recruiting strategy has always been a nice blend of blue chips and lower drafted player. They started to go more of the Denver route with a couple high end picks and back filled with over agers. The issue is that if you don’t get the high end kids you’re left with a lot of grinders (unless you find the diamond in the rough). It’s great we’ll be pulling some high end Dmen this coming year. I wish we would have hit on some forwards. Weatherby/Hain could surprise though, you never know.
  18. Maybe last year. You could be right. In the past 3-4 years MN actually has picked up some over age kids. That is new development however. They have been notorious for having very young teams. A few years ago we had a one of the younger teams in the country too. It all depends how many “true” players you have. Lately we’ve had quite a few over agers.
  19. haha. Und typically pulls blue chippers but they back fill with higher end over agers. Similar to teams like Denver. Mn and mich always have very young teams because they rely on very young players. All in all, i like our strategy, I just think we’ve been missing on more higher end players than in years plast. The players we do get and are very saught after recruits, I’ve always said that when they get bashed on this board. Again, I’m focused on the high end kids with my comments.
  20. MN has won a bunch of conference champioships. Michigan recruits too young...they haven’t had a nice blend of blue chippers and good depth players. Michigan does pull nice blue chippers with the best of hem though, similar to how we used to.
  21. I’m not so sure on that. Recruiting has been down a bit in the past 4-5 years as compared to the previous 5-10 years, especially as it relates to high end recruits. We are starting to lose potential commits that we would have rarely lost during the early 2000s. That’s Hockey though, it’s cyclical. Other schools are building their programs and have great facilities (and campus life) too. Also, recruiting has gotten tougher now as bigger program have to recruit younger and younger players. There’s more room to miss with those young players. Schools like the gophs and Michigan can afford to miss more often than us as they have hockey hotbeds in their backyards. all in all, we have a nice defensive group coming in (knock on wood ).
  22. Supposedly Sandy is in the running for the Rangers job. That’s a big deal.
  23. That’s good news. He was super cold since going back to the force.
