  1. I'm sure that plays into it a bit. However, I have a goalie buddy who always goes back to the newer sticks nowadays. Given how light they are and with that flex, players can send quick rockets from anywhere. The sticks along with player skates, there is just no time and space anymore. Couple that with the goalie equipment and it's simply tougher to score goals these days.
  2. I thought I read something different in a Athletic article. Could be wrong. edit: you’re right. I read the headline wrong a while back.
  3. Interesting. I know he looked really good at the Wild's D camp. However he was also a healthy scratch for the Force during the end stages of the playoffs. College would be a big jump.
  4. His records will never be broken. Completly different game now. The way they played back then (with the time and space) is pretty much the equivalent to playing 3x3 (ok maybe 4x4).
  5. Both Randklevs from FF, I’m sure they are related. Can’t always pick who you’re related to, wouldn’t be his fault obviously. I would guess that creep has already been booted from the family if they are related.
  6. Nothing really....unless there is a reasonable solution NOT to have a tie. 3x3 is perfect. I'm not a huge fan of the shootouts however if it is regular season only, I guess I'm fine with it. I love the game of hockey, so to see the skill some guys have during 3x3/shootouts gets my attention.
  7. yeah....most hockey folks feel this way.
  8. I hope the NCAA starts becoming more lenient. The CHL is nothing more than juiced up junior league. The only issue is that certain players have already signed NHL contracts (received signing bonus $) and have played NHL games.
  9. No it doesn't happen very often.
  10. Interesting Dub commit, even if we don’t get to see him for a few years
  11. Carter Batchelder is one to watch. Very good player.
  12. One of the best grinders of his generation....and has been elite since 4
  13. Bingo....I enjoy it as well. Probably should have been scout/analyst. my current job pays better though :). That can be the problem with early recruiting. Some kids are top kids in the country at 12-13 but other kids catch up after puberty. I expect Kunz is going through something like that now. He was always bigger than everyone so it made it a bit easier to dominate at younger ages. Now the kids he's playing against have had another year of growth/maturity. I expect Kunz to take another jump this year. The good players figure it out and continue to move up. Some don't though, you never know. Back to Kunz's week. He had 3 points in 4 games (tied for third on his team in scoring). That is not downright awful whatsoever. I actually thought he would sneak in based on known past talent. I mean, look at last week's select 17 camp. Three out of the top four scorers didn't make the final team....because I'm guessing the coaching staff kind of knew who they wanted.
  14. Montgomery made it though...one to keep an eye on. If kunz is going to shattuck I’m guessing he’s going too, as both are listed as undecided for next year. i agree with you though, shocking kunz didn’t make it. On the flip side, a ton of other kids had better production. His team wasn’t good though.
  15. Dont take my post as a knock at all, the kids elite playing against some of the best kids his age in the country. By “old” I meant he’s an August birthday and wasn’t a sophomore. The youth hockey landscape is changing where more focus is on birth year rather than what grade your in (this was the effect of all the AAA and select teams rising in popularity). You’re right though, a ton of Hockey in front of him. And thanks for the correction, I didn’t realize he had played a year of bantams prior to that big year he had.
  16. Undecided as far as next year only.
  17. Well you never know how kids develop from 14-18. He dominated bantams as a first year but he was also a very old first year. He’s a big kid with skill. Those types of plays should continue to progress however he may struggle with the rest of the kids “catching up” from a maturity standpoint. Either way, he’s elite but after being cut from the development program we’ll have to see if he makes the all star team in this event. All things considered, this is only one week out of the year.
  18. Not sure. Appears small but is doing good this weekend.
  19. Yeah kunz is struggling. On the other side, GF kid Dane Montgomery is doing really well, 6 goals in 5 games. Tied for the camp lead at the moment. Both Kunz and Montgomery are listed as “undecided” as far as where they will play next year.
  20. I noticed that too. Interesting he was Hockey Canada last year now he’s USA. You don’t see a ton of kids leaving Penticton, but game in and game out the USHL is a much tougher league. Maybe better for his development as a defensemen.
  21. Yeah, oilers gave him every opportunity the last two year. He went through his sophomore slump last year. See how he does this year. He wasn’t all that great his first two years of college either.
  22. I’ve seen him play too, very very good.
  23. Miller, mancellini and Reid all made the Hlinka team.
