Is it heresy to suggest that in a 3-point-per-game system, each team should get a point for a regulation tie and that ANY overtime triumph (5x5, 3x3, SO) should only be for the second point. I simply don't recall this discussion when the NCHC was born.

EGF will NEVER experience meaningful growth until it is connected to the economic heart of GFK (i.e., 32nd Ave. and, increasingly, points south). Which kind of begs the question…with seemingly nobody being able to agree on the southern bypass along Merrifield and into MN, which mythical Red River bridge project happens first?

Is that a reasoned analysis, or wishful thinking? I think it's fairly clear that UND is going all-in on the new name AND logo. Athletics (not just hockey) has multiple seats on the design firm selection committee. Football helmets are a great canvas for showcasing logo art, preferable in many ways to team uniforms and other types of athlete apparel. A great design will look awesome on the huge HD jumbotrons, even if the Alerus midfield turf remains bland. Football needs a boost in both attendance and gameday presentation, and for far too long has languished in the area of merchandise availability. Branding Fighting Hawk football will be job # 1, IMHO.

This thread seems as good a place for this as any. TruGreen Chemlawn is pulling out of GF altogether. I will be looking for a new weed and feed service once the snow melts. (Optimistic, I know.) Thanks in advance for any referrals!

Let's face it. This is pretty much the only way we're going to see UND football players in Canton(ese).

Drove by around opening time today but didn't stop. One loop around the lot told me that parking could be a problem for the foreseeable future. Seems that many of those new hotels along 42nd have limited parking to begin with.

Omaha might just be an exception: Nov. 2010, Omaha, SPLIT, two 1-goal games Jan. 2011, GFK, SPLIT, included the 8-4 shellacking (one of the worst, if not the worst, losses at REA for UND) Dec. 2011, GFK, SPLIT, two 1-goal games including 1 in OT Feb. 2013, Omaha, UND SWEEP (Sioux and fans embarrassed UNO at their outdoor showcase game) Nov. 2013, Omaha, SPLIT, one 1-goal game and one 2-goal game Feb. 2014, GFK, SPLIT, infamous Dean Blais ejection before UNO comes back and wins Nov. 2014, GFK, UND W and TIE, includes UNO shootout Win and yet another 1-goal game Jan. 2015, Omaha, SPLIT, both games OT UND leads series, 9-6-1, which kind of looks deceptive.

You ain't kidding. In Maverick lore, "8-4" (Jan. 21, 2011, UNO's debut at the Ralph) ranks right up there with their 2015 FF appearance and the opening of their new arena.
