I was writing my post when yours went up. Definitely agree re: need to fill old Scheels space.

Mall owner is going to have to think outside the (big) box. Malls are dying everywhere. Legacy chains are dropping like flies. Macy's is the surprise, in my opinion...it's no secret that Sears is on the ropes. Grand Cities can be written off as a charity project (anybody been in there lately?); the Columbia Mall is literally and figuratively at a crossroads. If Columbia loses two anchors, it's Goodnight, Irene. I have personally seen malls turn to flea markets to fill space, and it is not a pretty sight. The reinvention needs to take place, and it starts with Macy's. Otherwise, you're looking at another Target...a bombed-out shell taking up valuable, high-visibility frontage along 32nd. Whether it's a library or some other form of community destination, I can envision a revitalized food court and an expanded transit presence, if not a new transit hub to serve Greater Grand Forks. Win-win for all mall tenants, including heavy hitter Scheels. And speaking of them, I still see nothing going in over at the Med Park Mall. Shame.

That actually makes way too much sense, so it would never happen.

Anchor vacancy at Columbia Mall...will be hard to fill. Indoor entertainment venue, anyone? http://www.grandforksherald.com/news/4192509-macys-grand-forks-slated-close

World Junior Tourney - Toronto/Montreal

Not quite true. The heavily-produced NCAA Championship video that went out to every venue during this year's FCS football playoffs -- including the Alerus -- featured several shots of UND winning and celebrating the NC in Tampa. -
Get a note from your doctor, and soon every Performance Center in ND will be a High one.

I hope Santa brings you some closure.

That's what she said. -

Not to mention the fact that the NC-eh-eh jokes just write themselves.

A lot of people want to downplay the significance of that play. I cannot, and here is the clincher: before Richmond scored to make it 24-14, before the defensive lapses, before the punt block, name the exact moment when doubt first crept into your mind that UND could lose after going up 24-7 and basically having their way. I guarantee that it crept into the players' minds, too. I was numb for the next several moments...the big pass completion and ensuing TD are a blur, frankly, because I was still REACTING to and processing what I had seen but could not believe. The punt pressure defied - and still defies - reason. Interesting to see on here now that it was not called by the coaches; that is some measure of relief. I can forgive the kids. Avoid the foul, take the fair catch, run some clock, and eliminate that doubt? We're having a different conversation.

Two positives for me: 1. There was no next home game on the line, so for all that UND ended up farting away, it didn't lose that. 2. Attendance...Grand Forks showed up in a big way, and there was undeniably a great vibe in there.
-
Great point, and one I had almost completely forgotten. I, too, was scratching my head over the reverse, but it still doesn't hold a candle to the asinine decision to bring pressure on the punt.
-
I disagree. 24-7 with the ball, and 24-14 are completely different beasts.
-
And rightfully so. If someone on here, anyone, can put forth a defensible position as to why the pressure was put on for that play, I will listen to just about anything. I say it was unforgivable, and indefensible, but I'm open to persuasion.
-
No, it's on the coach who called the pressure.
-
Win or lose, that play...
-
Had the ball at midfield on a fair catch; pressure wasn't even needed. Should cost somebody a job if UND loses.

LOL. At least these folks were indoors in a nice, warm lobby...they get points for being the smartest of the "water protector" lot. Probably not saying much, but still. http://www.inforum.com/news/4171153-dapl-protest-wells-fargo-building-ends-company-agrees-meet-tribe

But...but...this is Brewster-freaking-Baker we're talking about.

Grand Forks is still not stepping up on the concert attendance front. Just received an e-mail from Ticketmaster that Kenny Rogers tickets are being offered buy one, get one free (never a good sign), as are tickets for Cirque de Soleil or something like that. C'mon folks, The Gambler is a LIVING LEGEND! Maybe they should have him play halftime Saturday instead.
