What is "that"? I feel like the playmakers gambling discussion is being conflated with NIL. Even so, I still don't get what the point is. The purpose of NIL for schools like NDSU and UND is it helps to compete with FCS and G5 programs, not blue blood P5 programs. Is the point that organized NIL programs for a school like us is pointless because it will never match up with P5 schools? If so, it's a strawman argument.

I get that. His point isn't clear to me. Playmakers Lounge? What would that have to do with NIL?
-
If that's the case, interesting choice by UND to not publicize a major donation, even if the donor wants to be anonymous.

I think this one, specifically, was planned as public/private many years ago.

The schools I mentioned will all be affiliates to the OVC starting this year, though, and the Texas schools are hardly passing over the OVC to get to Tulsa and Kansas City. The Summit schools are a lot easier to fly to commercially, as well. Liberty has money and could be attracted to the bigger cities and better universities in the Summit League, especially if the Texas schools join. The Summit League also has a million dollars from WIU to help sweeten the pot. Would rather pay for Soccer affiliates than add a bottom feeder D1 program for all sports.

Just about? Reporting is kind of weak. https://www.grandforksherald.com/news/local/local-government-advisory-committee-members-to-move-epitome-memorial-village-ii-tax-incentives-forward

Houston Christian (HCU) Huskies Houston, Texas Ryan Pratt Incarnate Word (UIW) Cardinals San Antonio, Texas Kiki Lara Liberty Flames Lynchburg, Va. Kelly Findley Any reason the league couldn't make a pitch to the OVC Soccer affiliates?

I'm more confident we win vs ndsu next year than at uni next year, to be honest

Seems like a major potential issue for ND universities... this gonna happen? https://thegrandcities.com/2023/05/19/nd-educators-watching-mns-free-tuition-bill/

Non factor. I think they have higher expectations than us.

Thank you for doing that! This link will take you to the page that lists the other years and sports. I think links for the other recruiting classes may be viewable there as well. https://web.archive.org/web/20220908084045/https://wiki.siouxsports.com/doku.php

Wayback machine seems to have some wiki records. This is the 2024 recruiting page that was last updated in november. doesn't show much, but it includes some of the prospects. https://web.archive.org/web/20221205221954/https://wiki.siouxsports.com/doku.php/football/2024_recruiting_information

Just found this... super in-depth rundown on the history of the NCC. Pretty incredible how often the Dakota schools have flirted with the Montanas and Idaho. The guy has a rundown on the history of every single conference. Edit: not every conference, but worth checking out his channel.

Common Man or Dan Bererro style show would be ideal. Other than UND, sports segments should include NDSU and other local schools/pro teams. Show should have callers. I think Guage Ausmus would be a natural for a show like this, and I'm sure anyone who's listened to his pod would probably agree. I doubt he would have the time but just an example.

Great! Mankato can use their football scholarships on Mens soccer Lindenwood does. Would they be interested in the Summit League, and would that move the needle at all for St. Thomas, DU, or ORU? I'm sure they wouldn't mind a presence in St. Louis, at minimum.

It's interesting that the report about the NCHC schools shutting down the idea of Summit Hockey came out before local news mentioned that it was legitimately being considered. Makes me think FB could be on the table. Could the Summit adding FB be announced when the league announces it's new TV contract? Is WIU leaving related to either Summit FB or a new TV deal? In the fall, the MVFC commissioner said that they were working with Leona to renegotiate the crap FB media deal (one year early). Could that be related? Was she attempting to make the MVFC more attractive to keep the league together (if she knew there was legit potential for Summit FB)? Is it more likely that that's all connected or that none of it is?
-
Makes sense, but from what I gather, DU views them the same way we view Augastana, don't they? I don't want to do anything that would make DU look elsewhere. DU leaving would also make St. Thomas more likely to leave, as they are their only true "peer" institution in the conference. ORU private but not quite the same.

Replacements that I would look at to consider targeting: Minnesota State with FB to Pioneer Milwaukee Lindenwood with FB to Pioneer Green Bay Northern Colorado SEMO Central Arkansas Central Oklahoma Pipe dream - Add FB to the Summit and leverage FB to get Illinois State, UNI, and Missouri State to join, potentially with the Montanas and Idaho, and Weber as affiliates or full members. Why would this have a 1 in a million chance? Positioning for potential future FBS conference. If NDSU had any balls they would at least attempt a big move like that, similar to how UND started the NCHC. NCAA not allowing a MAC - like conference in the North/West is a pretty clear Antitrust violation, IMO.

I think he has, at least when given the opportunity in real games. I also think he will get a decent number of carries even if we do bring in a really good RB. I don't think you were implying that he hasn't earned his shot; you're just saying in general, right?
-
Agreed. But I'm pretty sure that the general thinking is that even if he were to get over 100 carries, we just need the depth regardless. Realistically, there's really only Isaiah Smith and Ziebarth. Red Wlison and Skokna may get thrown in there, but they aren't really every down backs. I don't recall if we are bringing in a high school RB, but playing a true freshman isn't really ideal if it's done out of necessity.
