We need the IPF stat. As of now the Hyslop is used by every team other than hockey in some form or another. Football uses it all the time for in season freshmen weights/conditioning and winter conditioning in the morning not to mention physical testing (you'd think 40 times would improve running on new turf instead of a dusty composite gym floor) The main arena gets used all the time as of now. Once we build the IPF that can be converted into something of use since the IPF will replace it. I honestly have no idea what it could be usefully transformed into other than a nice basketball arena since the entire athletic department will be housed in the IPF.

I agree Hakstol should've walked up to Dell in the dressing room just like Red did Michigan's shrimp and say 'Hello Aaron, what's happening.... Umm, I'm gonna need you to go ahead and be a brick wall tonight that'd be grrreat.... mmmmK?'

If Joe Kleason and Lynch are 100% by the start of the season and Dwayne Brown is also 100% then we will have a very good team. At safety someone needs to step up. Mersereau needs to learn how to tackle and find the ball in the air to make the impact that someone with his athletic prowess should easily make. If we can find two consistent safeties we could win up to 9 games with all variables being favorable such and injuries and crucial calls. I bet this team has 6-9. 9-2 equals playoffs and maybe hosting a game or two. 8-3 equals playoffs on the road (FargoDome?). 7-4 equals shouldn't have scheduled SDSSMTOSD

That game is a guarantee. It's not a garbage UND team this year like the one that Sioux Falls pounded. This years team will be considerably better than last years team and teams won't be able to but 8 and 9 guys in the box and dare us to pass like last year with Sioux Falls.

has anyone heard anything about that JUCO safety that was mentioned before? Is he actually on the team and in town for summer workouts?
-
The next step will be that really good recruits are mixing the schools up and signing letters of intet to und on accident which is the only conceivable way that und can ever out recruit the ol' AC

I think this thread needs to go the way of the nickname. We all agree that NDSU sucks. Lets talk about something more productive like a potential playoff matchup (obviously in the FargoDome)
-
With how everyone from Fargo land has been blowing this whole out of proportion we should expect Faison will be accidentally sent a crate of Midol meant for NDSU
-
That's quite the assumption considering the ncaa doesn't even know where Fargo is

I thought he hit 10.8 last year. If that is accurate that's not good because we need another burner. And yes i do realize that track speed doesn't count for much but it certainly helps in the open field.
-
Speaking of Varner does anyone know how he did in track this year? I'm hoping he got near the mid 10s in the 100m

God forbid someone (Mr.Burgundy) exaggerate, although we did lead the nation in blocked FGs. The video is ridiculous with opposing blockers on their backs and the entire kick block team bearing down on the poor kicker.
-
Teams are going to have to pass on us because our front 7 is going to destroy the run like always. The only way to score on us is through the pass because we'll block every field goal as well. We need safeties to be playmakers and someone to step up along side Daryl Brown and we should be a very very good team. Also if Dom Bennett is healthy all year he will put up huge numbers.

I'm more concerned about our secondary than if our bball team can get road wins. Any word on if that new safety is officially at UND now?

While your state scrambles to fix housing situations and its economy my state is wondering what to do with all of the extra money. Should we burn it to keep warm in the winter? Should we shred it to make clothes for poor forclosed upon mountain folk? Should we make pinatas with it? Should we give it to Minnesota so they can afford to build their new stadium? I'm running out of ideas, we may be on the plains but we do have mountains, they only difference is that ours are made of cash and yours are rocks and dirt. Keep up the good work for your state.

I'm thinking enter to a song like Sail by AWOL Nation (with the volume actually turned up) or something like that and a video of the team crushing people and scoring TD's and working out in the offseason.

I did just come back from a vacation/wedding in Colorado, one of my favorite places (obviously not talking about Greeley). And now I'm back in that flat frozen oil rich no deficit havin good for nothin filthy stinkin rich no class havin gazillion dollar surplus runnin God forsaken state of North Dakota.

And they were actually good at basketball and football. We transitioned with some of the worst football teams in recent memory with the best players not being able to keep the grades up and the others just not being very good. It's easy to be passionate when your teams are the best your school has ever had (Woodside administration and Mays/Walker regime) If we had been really good during the transition then the fans would have had passion, it just didn't work out that way.
-
So Jayson will the football team be getting a better intro video and entrance to the field, with some smoke and strobe lights or something to make it cool, they've been pretty sub par as long as I can remember and it's not like it can't happen since we've all seen the intro for the hockey team
-
We have 0 and you guys have 1. The D2 stuff doesn't count for anything anymore other than fond memories.

New possible safety. A little short but very strong, listed bench as 365 (UND's safety record is 350) and squat as 485 and 40 as 4.58, great pop on hits and tackles and very clean sharps breaks on the ball. He looks like a very capable blitzer off the edge and a run stuffer. Hopefully he is the missing piece to the secondary.
-
I've made that same point on bville about how NDSU peaked way too soon since it was during transition and they couldn't be in the playoffs. Obviously it got !@#$ on but I feel the same way as you on that.
-
Alabama had alot of down years not too long ago. The reason I'm comparing the first year out of the transition possible results is that the teams are built similarly and if not for a transfer to fall from the heavens we would have been just as held back by our QB play. I also remember that Bison team had a suspect pass d just like ours. It's the off season so it gives us something to banter about for a bit until some real news comes out

We open up with Valpo SDSU and Montana at home in OCC play. We then have alternating home then away conference games with easier teams than we have this year (David instead of Poly and Portland St instead of Montana) 7 home games is a big deal and we also have two open dates right now in week 4 and 13. NDSU went 3-8 opening with a loss at Iowa St and a loss to SHSt. They won a home game against Wagner College which wrapped up OCC play. In conference they went 2-6 against 3 ranked teams. Who knows how the team will look at that point so its hard to predict a record.

Obviously the first few years of eligibility will be compared with NDSU's first few since both schools compare to each other. This is a breakdown of the outlook for the first year of playoff eligibility and what would define a successful comparison. Schedule Breakdown UND play one FBS team and play 4-5 ranked teams depending on how each team is doing at that time. The OCC games are against Portland St. and SDSSMTMT and will crush SDSSMTMT and will have a tough game against Portland St but realistically can win both. NDSU played one FBS team and 4 ranked FCS teams earning 2 wins in those 5 games. Their OOC games were against Austin Peay and Central Con St. and won both by 30+ points. UND have 3 games in conference where they will be heavily favored (Sac St, N Col, N Ar) and 5 very tough but all wibable games against Montana Montana St Poly E Wash and SUU. All 5 of those teams could be ranked. NDSU went 4-4 in conference play with a 1-3 record against ranked teams. UND will have at least 4 wins and realistically could reach 9 (8 D1) if things bounce their way and players step up. UND will probably be ranked between 25 and 20 to start the year and who knows how high they could finish with some big wins but could also be unranked if they fail. NDSU's overall record on the year was 6-5. They started the season ranked #2 and finished unranked. Predictions NDSU went 6-5 and UND should get 6 wins so I expect at least a wash on overall record. NDSU lost a close game (13-16) to Wyoming and UND could beat San Diego St. who lost some big time players from last years successful team. UND can't lose in this comparison. NDSU went 4-4 in conference and UND has 3 VERY winable games in conference and 5 tough but winable games so I would expect at least 5 wins. Overall I'm expecting UND to be more successful than NDSU since they have a QB unlike NDSU had, which crippled their offense. UND also have a stacked front 7 and emerging young DBs and unmatched special teams play
