It was his only way of guaranteeing a pre Christmas slump.

It might not even end up being his.

I blame the oline period. Joe also didn't improve like he should have so I'm glad they put Bartels back in there and he looks like a totally different player. But the oline play has not been good enough once this year.

Damn. I was picturing Wayne Nelson calling people out on the video blog.... That would be funny.

I always wonder that and it usually seems that Mussman is too bound to the upperclassmen.

All someone would have to say is that it bolsters team bonding and keeps them humble by showing they aren't above a bus trip. Money isn't an issue.

I think a point could be made that if we had this years defense last year we would have had at least 2 more wins (SDSU and NAU or Cal Poly). The defense obviously isn't very good still which was made clear against MSU Montana and SDSU. Unlike last year they have gotten off the field when they needed to in a lot of games and have tackled way better. I'm not say at all that this is good enough though. Until we are getting pissed about giving up 300 yards in a game our defense will be a work in progress.

Screw that. Try and get the win. It's a game that could put us on the map for recruits.

Yea he looked like he was loaded with a natural feel for the game and great decision making but was just so tiny.

I wonder if that Warroad kids has hit his growth spurt yet?
-
Because the offense isn't even close to what it was last year. It's not a hard concept. They affect eachother.
-
You too? I clearly stated that there are plenty of good plays in nd. And I'm arrogant because he didn't understand my post?
-
I'd say 7 in a career is pretty damn good. I takes 3 points of the board and is as good as a fumble recovery. He took 21 points off the board by being a beast, nothing moral about that just ask Central Arkansas if it was a moral victory when he blocked two of their fg to win a game.

It's common courtesy

Apparently the only word you read was game changer. Read the whole post or don't respond. Your responses don't even make sense because you didn't actually read my post.

Then throw out the game vs a D2 from last year. The point is that the offense not helping the defense nearly as much as last year and the defense is still doing better.

tUMD @ UND - You should have hired Sandelin...

And it turns out that frying in animal fat is a gazillion times more healthy for you than what they use now. Apparently we have this brain thing that is made out of the stuff.... Crazy. -
Last season the defense was terrible. This season the defense has been not great by any means but much better than last year. They've shown signs of life and had long stretches of very solid play which just didn't happen last year. PPG 2013 = 33.7 2012 = 34.5 It doesn't seem like a big improvement just looking at the one stat but we also still have one of the weaker opponents remaining so it could go down from here. Also as I will point out later the offense isn't helping nearly as much as least year so the defense has a tougher job this season. YPG 2013 = 426 total, 237 passing, and 188 rushing 2012 = 480 total, 244 passing, and 235 rushing An over 50 ypg improvement is pretty good. The biggest weakness was rushing defense last year and that and tackling in general have been improved but still obviously aren't there by any means. These yards translate into fewer 1st downs given up which means the defense is getting themselves off the field better than last year. 2012 = 24.18 1st downs/g 2013 = 22.2 1st downs/g. Those two first downs not given can be a big deal in close games. To put the yards improvement into perspective, UC Davis will have accumulate over 1000 yards on saturday for the total yards given up to not improve this year from last. Offense Last year the offense helped the defense out a ton by not turning the ball over nearly as much and by having great possession of the ball and points on the board. Opposing offenses are easier to plan against when they need to play catch up or from behind. YGP down from 430.5 to 358.8. TOP down from 29:41 to 28:10. - that extra time of rest and planning for the defense is huge late in games and adds up over a season. Turnovers up from 18 to 27..... -no explanation needed here on how important taking care of the ball is. It's pretty clear that the defense is actually one hell of alot better than last year. Even with a lack of help from the offense the defense is still better in every statistic other than sacks but that can be explained by lack of opportunity with teams running the clock out instead of trying to pass to catch back up. It's no where near good enough but it is better especially under the circumstances.

I don't think you understand how good Bellmore was. When he moved to DE UND's run defense was great. He has the all time record for blocked FGs and basically won us a game with that skill at Central Arkansas with 2 blocked FGs, one being a late game winning attempt. When he had a season ending injury as a senior the run defense was never the same. Unfortunately you failed to read what I wrote and just filled in your own stuff. I said players like Brock don't come out of ND very often because they just don't. It's a fact. He more than just contributed, he was a game changer and the cornerstone of the defense that allowed fewer than 1000 total rushing yards in a season. You obviously missed it or just wanted to be a contrarian too much but I talked about how there are probably alot more Dan Hendrickson or you could insert Travis Beck type players in ND that are a little short or small but are tough smart and are just plain good at football that get missed by D1 schools. These guys were both unheralded recruits and turned out to be stars. Try reading a little more carefully next time.

Luckily UND hasn't put much on film this year with the struggles of the offense.
-
We used to struggle in Cali. Both teams aren't very good. The question is.... Who is worse?
-
Now that I think of it there was a Bellmore type player that came out of GF last year. He's doing track at UM though...

Players like Bellmore don't come out of ND very often. I would bet that there are a lot of Hendrickson types (a little short but athletic and tough and possessing great instincts) in this area that just need to be developed. I doubt anyone was jumping for joy when he committed but after a couple years they couldn't keep him off the field because he kept making plays and forced their hand. There are always Goertz type players coming out of Wisconsin and Edwards could be better than Boyle or Benjamin ever were if he can get their mental edge for understanding the game. I'm sure we miss on a player or two because of going elsewhere but we've seemed to have made up for it with players like Kuksa (hope he'll be ok) and Reyes and Norberg. It's not like we haven't hit on players from ND though. Iverson is a stud and Barton and Carr have started down the stretch.
