He's an ndsu guy through and through. There's no way I could see that happening. Although Bo Schembeckler was an OSU man and turned out to be the most legendary figure in Michigan sports history.
He is a nice good guy but I don't think he's hard enough on his players consistently enough. If he was more of a hard ass I feel we'd have been more successful the past few years.
Whomever is the next coach will hopefully use the TEs like NDSU. They block and block and block and block and then catch TD and get big first downs. Ours might not have a catch or even a target this year.
If the team looks completely prepared today and plays a great game I still don't feel comfortable with Mussman as the leader of this program. A coach needs to prepare his team like his job depends on it every week not just when his job actually depends on it like in 2011 and today. He could probably do himself a lot of good with a great performance today but I've already moved on.
Has anyone seen any of these ND recruits play or at least know how good they are?
Eric Bachmeier, 6'3”, 180, Kindred (Kindred), ND
Austin Cieslak, 6'3”, 250, Hazen (Hazen), ND
Dylan Beck, 285, Lakota (Lakota), ND
I blame the oline period. Joe also didn't improve like he should have so I'm glad they put Bartels back in there and he looks like a totally different player. But the oline play has not been good enough once this year.
I think a point could be made that if we had this years defense last year we would have had at least 2 more wins (SDSU and NAU or Cal Poly). The defense obviously isn't very good still which was made clear against MSU Montana and SDSU. Unlike last year they have gotten off the field when they needed to in a lot of games and have tackled way better. I'm not say at all that this is good enough though. Until we are getting pissed about giving up 300 yards in a game our defense will be a work in progress.
