  1. I'm pretty sure we won all 5 against UMD last year, so yeah that's 6 in a row at least. When I predicted 4-0, I was totally not prepared to see it. Glad to see they're stepping up when needed.
  2. If UND wins 4-2 friday night. I predict they will lose on Saturday. If you look at box scores for Fridays you'll see that 4-2 isn't a good score for us. Just a thought. I'm thinking split, but maybe we can score a few? 4-0 UND on Friday 3-1 UMD on Saturday I'm being anti-Virg Foss and picking disparity. Not that I actually think those scores will stand up.
  3. There are fans, like siouxtatoo's dad, who will choose not to come to a game because it's just depressing. Depressing is the only word I can think of which describes the crap atmosphere this weekend. Unless UND is scoring, there is absolute silence. Each individual person is planted in their seat, and not making noise. Actually, that in itself is kind of intimidating, knowing that if these people got up and cheered they could tear the roof off that place. I'm sure Alaska was relieved that they were playing during that. I will always come to the games if I can help it, but I know there are others who miss the cheering so much that they won't come. Hence the empty seats. Hockey is by far my favorite sport, but football basketball and others have fans that are soooo much more vocal. It's interesting that the move to the Alerus had nowhere near the effect on fans as the move to the Ralph. Football fans are loud as ever.
  4. Murray looks 100%, he is absolutely flying out there, and really creating chances. I'm stuck at home watching Sweenyvision, Ryan Hale is doing color. WDAZ's revolving door continues to swing with Bredahl not there today. Hale is taking a cue from the Missus tonight, and not doing too bad. UND really took control in that period. AA really has only had 2 good chances in the game and buried one of them. Other than that all of their shots have been from long range. Also, Beaverson is on the ice for UAA and is getting lit up at every opportunity. He was another victim of BINA's power tonight. It was ridiculous for a bit at the end of that period, I think UND had the puck in AA's zone for 3 solid minutes...unbelievable. Third is about to get underway.
  5. Actually, this was a paper he wrote for a class. One of his teachers told him to publish it for others to read, because it really is a great story. He rewrote it, and the final was 14 pages long. It was edited/condensed by Paulette Tobin, whom you'll see on the front page of Monday's paper, prefacing the article. It is a remarkable story, I was fortunate enough to read it, and I hope a lot of others (like those posting here) are taking notice.
  6. You can take Maranara out of that mix though. He played...albeit without that huge O lineman, but he was still out there. I concede it would have been a very different game with that quarterback and lineman in.
  7. I second that... Seriously, van halen doesn't sound the same on organ... then again not a whole lot does. Hennessy is having a good time razzing on the organist and PA guy though. and he laughed for like 10 mins about Scott dilly dallying to get off the ice.
  8. Yeah it was Ryan Hale... he faired alright, ended up with a nice shiner though. And that was IN Houghton, MI
  9. Apparently Stafford is out, injured last night. Not horribly serious though will return (hopefully) for AA. Genoway-Zajac-Massen now in line 1
  10. 21-17 UND, but it's going to take some last min heroics from our defense. I'm thinking an interception return by Danny Gagner w/ about 3:00 left. I'm one student who'll be there loud as ever. I'm making the trip back from Thanksgiving Friday afternoon so I can listen to the hockey game too.
  11. Not only that, but the next time a player thought about crossing the ice in our zone...maybe he'd think again. It's kind of a warning, plus, I'm sure it was tons of fun to knock him off his skates like that.
  12. I was honestly not expecting such a great start, but was super excited to see it. Their passing was very crisp, and for most of the game, they really made St. Cloud look bad. They played well, and it was great to see them get rewarded. It was also nice to see Prp get a couple, and that third line put some points up. Zajac's goal was simply money! That's the type of play I've been looking for all year. All around great performance, top to bottom. PS...get the trolls off the board PPS...who taunts after a team wins??? Not classy at all... Saagard, you are a great opposing fan that we enjoy hearing from (at least in my opinion), and hit the nail on the head.
  13. All good stuff, I'm seeing on here now. I know Greene will turn it around, and also that this adjustment is really taking away from the game he was taught. He'll turn it around, somebody will make him. Down the Huskies.
  14. All I have to say is that it's negative posting from you and a few others that is really keeping me from this board. Apparently we don't have patience any more. I really love this board and enjoy hearing things from UND fans and especially outsiders and opponents views. In fact, I'm starting to like hearing from them better because all many Sioux "fans" on this board are doing is complaining. The effort in Wisconsin through a good part of the weekend was GREAT. They totally dominated parts of both games, especially the second period tonight, and if it werent for Bruckler the score would be different for both games. Seriously, how many times do we have to say "Remember DU last year, or UMinn, etc" before people understand that peaking at the right time is key. Were we really spoilled the last few years, beginning the season on fire and ending it "off fire" Did the "Parise Era" produce what it intended?? NO!!! I'm sick of hearing about the end of the world, and I know I'm only one poster, but I really don't want to come back here anymore... at least not to see the amount of bitching that goes on.
  15. Oh yeah... that's 4-1 no matter who is in net!
  16. I appologize for offending anyone, but seriously folks... 3 or 4 losses is not a cause for giving up on the season!!! If they can begin to play consistently like they played tonight, things will turn around for folks who have a poll addiction...**hehe Also, it's not fair to let tradition dictate level of play. I agree that there is no excuse for lack of effort or stupidity on the ice, but there's a limit to expectations now...we know that. Surprisingly, I like our position now much better than in previous years. Take our shots and adversity now, this will be a strong team by the end of the year. Use these experiences to motivate us toward the playoffs. In '01 they didn't have a chance to do it on a national level. If they work hard, and put in team efforts every week they have the talent to take revenge on certain a 6-0 loss or even a 5-3 loss that was mostly a domination by one eastern team, when it counts the most. Like Rory McMahon said tonight...It was a team loss, there are 20 guys in the locker room tonight that took that loss, not just one guy. That's the type of leadership we want, the type that everyone can get on board with. Coaching can only do so much, and I'm confident that our leaders will emerge. 4-1 tomorrow night UND's way...
  17. I have to disagree with most here. I think they played VERY well. Compared with the last 6 games, they were fairly solid. We were disciplined and skated hard for much of the game. The problem, like everyone is saying, is that nobody is finishing. They held CC, a very speedy young team, to only 2 shots in the first, and 22 for the game. They also outshot a team for the first time in 6 games. At times in this game they looked VERY sharp. It is clear they have been revamping the powerplay because they were making fake shot passes and not rushing things, very tape to tape too. The plays were much different than in the past, no more shooting into the D-Man right in front of you. They were intelligent and very much outworked CC a lot of the time. Their passing was for the most part a huge improvement over the last lot of games. CC made the most of their few opportunities, and Parise had rebound problems. The only really bad defensive play was when Smaby got flown by like he was standing still and the resulting shot gave a juicy rebound for someone to bury. In my opinion, aside from not finishing and ONLY TWO defensive errors, UND deserved to win that game. Unfortunately, deserving to win doesn't cut it in this league. Plus, after what I've seen the last few years, is 3 losses anything to worry about at this point?? I, personally, have no doubts that this team is headed in the right direction.
  18. I don't think Murray slowed down. In fact, he has really stepped up his play. If not on the score sheet, he has really matured his forecheck. I watched him on Friday against MN, and he is becoming really good at gaining the zone, but from there it kind of fizzles. What he could use is a trailer to drop pass to for the shot. He is really fast, and has some great moves. He hasn't done much for the score sheet, but I think he looks more mature. If we can get our speedy forwards to gain the zone, drop to a sniper, then we can set up from there. The key is getting deeper in the zone, and getting a body in front of the net. The cycling isn't doing a whole lot, especially when we can't keep control. Sorry to get off topic there, but I think the team is in great shape, and I enjoy not having the "one" go-to player. In the long run it could really make the team gel better.
  19. Way to overreact, Goon. Just think if our team had the same attitude... "All right guys, we got beat bad in our own house, lets pack it up and get ready for next season" Saturday's game was not decided between the pipes, so the goalies can't be blamed. Poor execution and intensity did, and clearly the Gophers wanted the win, so they came out and took it. Big losses happen, and I think they're essential to building a strong team. They help motivate teams, and everyone can benefit from an early season beating like that. For instance take a look at Farce's score from 96 if you don't believe me. They were also a young team. Like I said in another thread, just wait until we play MN in the playoffs. Think of the motivating factors, and tell me this team won't be salivating at that chance. Maybe we can be like MN last year, and have the last laugh in this rivalry for the year. We're in great shape, lets not forget that.
  20. Good call Hopper, I completely agree. That type of loss is something that the team can build on, and is absolutely necessary for a rallying point. Its something they didn't see all of last year (save maybe Wisconsin), and really helps motivate a team. Instead of declaring a state-wide emergency, they need to take care of business next weekend; and they'll be in good shape. Its much better that a loss like that happens now, rather than later. Think of the meeting we'll have with MN in the playoffs, NCAA or WCHA, and the type of motivation a game like this gives us. I can't wait to see that.
  21. Nobody's complaining about the points. The problem is the effort. Looking at the effort from Maine to the "effort" in Mankato, you can't tell me they were the same. Whatever happened on the ice, the important thing is the point column goes up again. A successful weekend, but not a pretty one.
  22. They survive. Take 3 of 4 from Mankato, a trip that (hopefully) won't soon be forgotten. Tough test next week. They can't afford that type of effort against Minnie. One plus - "Lamoroo" stood on his head, sounded like he looked solid.
