  1. Can't see it either. Unless Buccigross just thought it should be a 2 minute. Hopefully someone puts it on youtube.
  2. 5 minute a bad call? John Buccigross just tweeted that it was but I didn't see it.
  3. Awesome, I actually hadn't seen this before. I could be wrong again, but I don't believe Minnesota adopted this policy.
  4. Wisconsin's is on this list, I'm trying to find Minnesota's. We will discourage all teams from bringing their American Indian mascots to UW Athletic facilities. Furthermore, we will request that any band not play war chants and that the cheerleaders/pompom squads also not use American Indian gestures, chants, and so forth. For all users of UW Athletic facilities, we will discourage planned events using an American Indian Mascot, symbol, names and activities if that use is disrespectful. The sale of athletic wear or other souvenirs with American Indian mascots or logos will be discouraged on the grounds of the University's athletic facilities. UW representatives to our conferences (Big Ten and WCHA) will present our policy to other members of the conference and the Board of Regents. They will convey to the conference the sensitivity of the use of such names and logos and ask the conference to consider appropriate policies. The intent of this presentation is to exert a leadership in our conferences and in the UW system which will lead institutions with such mascots and names to review the nature and uses of Native American names and symbols. Scheduling. During the regular season, UW Athletic Department will not schedule any team with a Native American mascot or nickname unless the team is a traditional rival or a conference member. http://www.und.edu/o...ges/passed.html UND may be able to play Wisconsin if AD Alvarez claims them as a traditional rival which is highly possible.
  5. Both schools and Iowa, as well as most Minnesota colleges and universities have a policy in place that doesn't allow them to play Native American named teams outside of the conference or playoffs. Minnesota AD Joel Maturi asked the board of regents if it would be at all possible to schedule UND if they kept the name and they flat out said no right away. Add that in with the fact that the NCAA will be telling schools not to schedule UND because of the nickname and it might not be looking to good non-conference schedule wise.
  6. They still have rooms open as of now
  7. Awesome! That will be our last resort just because it's a good drive but it's not a bad area. Thanks Sioux fan in DU land, i'll check that one out too!
  8. Thank you very much Ice Arena Man. I'll check it out tomorrow Any other ideas are welcome as well!
  9. Can you give me an address please?
  10. lol not sure i'm feeling that adventurous. We stayed at the Days Inn in Maplewood for Gophers football and it was awesome! In the Maplewood Mall parking lot and a very safe area, had a fridge, microwave and everything you needed. Can't find the address for that Days Inn . I just don't know how far of a drive it is from there to the X
  11. Hey everyone, I'm making my first trip to the Final Five this year and had some questions about hotels. I tried asking on GPL but since most of them live in the cities it's not much help . I was wondering if people on here could recommend some cheap hotels that are somewhat in the area of the X and are a safe neighborhood. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone.
  12. Ambroz took A LOT of stupid penalties in the first half of the year but has been very good in the second half. I was surprised, I wanted him benched for the year because all he did was hurt the team at the beginning but he's coming along nice now.
  13. I sure hope so haha. The straight out of high school thing takes a lot of transition time.
  14. I wish Minnesota and Lucia believed in that philosophy
  15. I thought we were talking WCHA coach of the year haha
  16. He's done a phenomenal job, but it seems that: 1. Teams that have had a lot of success in recent years don't have their coaches get coach of the year when they have a season that's not as good 2. A lot of times coach of the year goes to the coach of the team that wins the league. If Minnesota wins the league, I honestly would not be surprised to see Lucia get the award since everyone, including myself, picked them to finish 4th or 5th in the conference. I think it will be between Pearson and Lucia personally. Although I think Pearson is more deserving by far.
  17. I know, but how many of them came straight out of high school? Most of them probably played in junior leagues
  18. Not trying to get in on this because it's a pointless argument and I think MTU's coach deserves coach of the year, but MN did have 7 freshman last year playing straight out of high school because of their losses.
  19. 2 of the 3 series will be at Mariucci and one series will be at one of them. So Minnesota will visit each teams arena once ever 4 years. Not only does Minnesota have the Notre Dame series (which was probably picked up because it's Lucia's alma mater and his son will be playing there), but they also have a series set up for a couple years with the Boston schools. That leaves them with only one non-conference series
  20. I've often wondered the same thing. It really doesn't make much sense, although it is Michigan vs Michigan State and that rivalry is HUGE in their state for all sports. Michigan will probably build a new arena, Yost is old. Sounds like Lucia wants Mariucci upgraded too now (it needs it).
  21. According to Roman the Minnesota Cup thing has been set up (He refers to it as the Minnesota beanpot ). Minnesota will play three series against Minnesota schools each season, and the one team they don't have a series with will play Minnesota in the first round of the tournament, ensuring every team plays Minnesota each season. Much better scenario than people thought.
  22. This is true, how about Omaha and St. Paul? I would say Grand Forks but Omaha's arena holds more people and it's a better destination city.
  23. $$$$$$$$$$$$$ The CCHA's best tournament attendance at JLA was just over 34,000 total. The WCHA record is over 88,000. Michigan doesn't have as many hockey fans as people think. The Red Wings are extremely popular but college hockey isn't as big in Michigan as people think. At least that's what i'm told every year when I visit Michigan. I can ask people again in June if you want
  24. If the B1G is interested you can bet that the Xcel would be more interested in them than the NCHC just because of Minnesota. A newer report I read tonight said it's very possible that the B1G tournament will rotate between the X and JLA. Could that open the possibility of the NCHC doing a rotation between Denver and St. Paul? I believe Jupiter said that's how he thought it would be fair. If the rotation between those two arenas for the B1G is going to happen I can definitely see that situation playing out. We'll find out within three weeks what the B1G decides.
  25. Thanks for that. I'm going to have to admit, i'm not on Lucia's side on this one. Although it likely won't benefit Minnesota much at all, i'm all for college hockey allowing CHL players to be recruited. Especially if they haven't played any NHL games.
