  1. ... I've had numerous conversations with people at UND, plus with others who have a long history with the program, knowledge of the Big Sky and experience in coaching college football since we joined the Big Sky. Since that time, the prevailing view of these people has been it will take at least until year 4 or 5 in the Big Sky for our program to get the point where we are a legitimate playoff team, year in and year out. The consenus of these people, whose opinions I value, feels there is zero chance Coach Mussman is fired. We think the UND Athletic Dept is going to stay the course, because it's the right thing to do and because firing a coach almost always sets a program back...

If this is correct, and I have no basis to think that your sources are bad, Faison is taking UND football down the same road as New Mexico State Aggies football.

    That makes me very sad.

  2. great to see the guys come from behind and win. don't think these last two games will have an impact on the decision whether Mussman goes or stays. if he stays, it will be because Faison doesn't want to buy out his contract and/or because he runs a clean program, not because the Sioux won the last two games against weak teams to get to 4 and 7.

  3. If they lose to UNC that will say more than any game of the year. They have all the motivation in the world after how the game ended last year and it's the seniors last game at home. A loss there and it's basically curtains, as if it already isn't.

Have to play the devil's advocate here... Mussman will save his job with wins the next 2 weeks.

  4. would be bad@$$ to get tracy claeys as a head coach but we would have to offer him salary compared to Hakstols

    bring

    back

    bubba

    idea #1 far surpasses #2

problem with Claeys is that Minnesota more than likely will offer him Kill's position when Kill decides his health issues will force him to retire at the end of the season.

Hazelton would probably be a better choice than Schweigert, even though he does not have HC experience.

  5. Well, it has gotten hard to find good things to say about Mussman. He is a good coordinator, but just doesn't seem to have a grasp on the head coaching position.

Not on the Mussman bandwagon by any means, but... his players have managed to stay out of the news for off field indiscretions for the most part. That is a very good thing.

  6. Actually, as a topic, hasn't this thread run it's course? It seems more like an inevitability. Over 100 pages and the only posters who disagree with the topic are NDSU trolls who want to keep UND recruiting at a disadvantage.

  7. If UND athletics are in a money crunch would Hak take a pay cut to help with the situation. I would think he would still coach at UND for cheap he isn't in it for the money or I would think he would go pro for more money.

this is nothing a consistent, winning, competitive team wouldn't fix. don't need to rob from Peter to pay Paul.

  8. You're missing my point completely or more likely avoiding it.

My point isn't that UND didn't suspend the players, as I've said, this happens at every school. So stop bringing Beck up, it has no relevance in the discussion. My point is that UND fans aren't outraged by the fact that the players weren't suspended. It gets brushed under the rug when it's your players, but is on the front page of every discussion board and blog when it's NDSU players.

so you are saying that this will not be front page material on bisonville? it may not be the outrage you desire on a UND site, but we can both be confident that your friends on bisonville will more than make up for that, which makes sense since UND and NDSU no longer meet on the gridiron.

  9. since you are invoking wiki, here are Lincoln's own words:

Lincoln and his party were called radical and destructive, but he counted himself among the earliest defenders of conservative principles, which was in essence a defense of time-honored, traditional values.

As Lincoln said: But you say you are conservative - eminently conservative - while we are revolutionary, destructive, or something of the sort. What is conservatism? Is it not adherence to the old and tried, against the new and untried? We stick to, contend for, the identical old policy on the point in controversy which was adopted by "our fathers who framed the Government under which we live;" while you with one accord reject, and scout, and spit upon that old policy, and insist upon substituting something new.

  10. That is no different from folks who proudly call themselves conservative and then claim to be against racism. No matter which side you're on, you don't neccessarily always go along with the over the top extremists that exist within the group that you generally side with.

Excuse me... Abraham Lincoln signed the Emancipation Proclamation. He was a conservative and the first Republican president.

  11. C. The Montanta's hanging 60+ in your own house

if some people had gotten their way after NDSU had a slot open on their schedule for this season, it could have been worse - NDSU could have hung 51 (or more) points on the Sioux instead of Ferris State.

  12. So-o-o... legitimate question 'cause I don't know...

which is more detrimental to recruiting???

A bunch of fans griping about the players' attitudes, the level of play of play, the coaching ineptitude, etc on an internet fan forum?

    -- or --

the coach calling his team a bunch of divas at a press conference?

  13. I emailed faison about 15 times...only persob with eniugh to email me back is brian jones and jason shay...all the other coaches think they are too big and bad for me

Maybe you should proofread your emails to make sure he can understand what you are trying to say...

  14. I guess when you are constantly running your fingers thru your hair like a 15 year old girl on the sidelines every game....

    Not saying...just saying...

Is this an back-handed endorsement of bald coaches (I.e. Bohl)? :D

  15. Depends on if they want to play right away. Looking at it from that perspective a kid might think he can come in and play right away, with not a lot of upper-classman talent blocking the path.

Those recruits are out there. They will come to a place where they will be given the opportunity to play.

All the more reason for Mr Faison to be in the process of soliciting indications of interest from FBS coordinators and top FCS candidates that come from WINNING traditions now. No Iowa State, Minnesota or Colorado traditions please. I empathize with the Tibesar crowd, but IMHO truly doubt he will want to drop down to a low level FCS team if he has NFL head coaching aspirations. Also not sure if a Glenn Caruso type can make a successful transition to the FCS ranks, so shoot high and open the checkbook.

Time for some new blood. It sure has worked for volleyball.
