  1. This one's for CAS - no mention of Bohl in the Casper Star-Tribune newspaper story...

According to a statement released Saturday shortly after 2 p.m., the University of Wyoming athletics department will make a "major announcement" at a press conference scheduled for 5 p.m. Sunday.

All signs point to UW athletics director Tom Burman unveiling the Cowboys' new football coach at the press conference.

Following Wyoming's season-ending 35-7 loss to Utah State on Nov. 30, Burman announced that Dave Christensen would not be retained as head coach after five years on the sideline.

Former UW defensive coordinator and current Illinois State head coach Brock Spack was in Laramie on Saturday morning and is expected to be a finalist for the job, along with former California coach Jeff Tedford; former UW player and assistant coach Ted Gilmore, currently the receivers coach with the Oakland Raiders; and Sam Houston State coach Willie Fritz.

Sunday's press conference will be held at Wildcatter Stadium Club & Suites and is open to the public.

  2. I can't see him putting in for the UND gig in an effort to force Weber's hand. Actually, just the opposite in my opinion. If he wanted the Weber job, my guess is it would be his hands down. I think he sees something at UND that he likes....maybe support, facilities, personnel, etc. I keep hoping thecGriz will bring him back but I think I'll have to give up on that dream.

that is good to hear. now hope that Faison gives him a level field to compete on for the UND position.

  3. Hope Pflugrad is not using an app to UND as a way to force Weber's hand. He would be a solid choice with top notch credentials. Turning UND's program around will not be easy and will need someone with Pflugrad's experience. Plus, UND will be more likely to support football on a level to win the Big Sky and a national championship. Weber is a basketball school that doesn't seem to care much about their football program.

I admit I am surprised by ira's solid support for Bollinger, even though Bollinger would be a good QB coach. Mollberg would really be given the opportunity to shine in a Chip Kelly style offense.

Curiosity runs deep about who Faison picks (think he knew who he was going to hire when he let Mussman go)... hope this thing with Hardee doesn't cloud his judgement.

  4. While we are speculating rumors....he might have been drunk the night before? 9 girls would supposedly quit just because he drove the next morning "drunk"? .....or maybe him alcohol and young girls in a hotel room?

says the guy with the young hottie as an avatar

  5. That guy can't even beat NDSU.

With all due respect, who has been able to beat NDSU the last 3 years? He did seem to do pretty well against Big Sky teams, though.

My question is why did he go from being head coach at an FCS school that he took to the playoffs twice in three years to be a Defensive Coordinator at another FCS school?

That said, he would be a great candidate if he applied, even though he doesn't have Faison's ideal background of NFL or CFL experience.

  6. But why not wait to see who is hired?! The fact they aren't is incredibly short-sighted, and quite frankly, idiotic.

they're kids. they don't think things through. they think they know better than anyone else. don't you remember being 19?

  7. Thought I'd pass along a link that's particularly useful to this thread. http://www.footballscoop.com/the-scoop They do a great job of covering the football coaching carousel at all levels. Excellent Twitter follow as well.

the website says that the Eastern Michigan administration "likes" Colorado Pueblo's John Wristen (among a couple others). Can it be inferred that he has applied there or is it that Eastern Michigan is reaching out to Wristen?

  8. Florida OC Brent Pease was let go this morning. A Montana graduate and former NFL QB. He was Montana's OC in their hay day in the 90's and has been an OC/QB coach at NAU, Kentucky, Baylor, Boise, and Florida. His resume looks to fit Faison's job description to a tee.

5 years under Chris Peterson at Boise State. They had a very powerful offense. If Pease applies, he should get an interview.

Seems like there are some pretty attractive candidates on the list of possible candidates.

According to ESPN, Christensen was paid a base of $190,000 a year at Wyoming. UND could easily top that with incentives for attendance, etc, so you would think they could attract some decent talent under the headphones.

  9. The guy that gets the job will only "apply" after Faison contacts him and interviews him.

Has Faison already decided who the next coach is? Like the Brad Berry hiring, is it already a foregone conclusion?

Not in the Bollinger camp, but don't think the 'bust' factor with him is any worse than where the Sioux team is at this point in time. If he applies, he should get an interview, but would also say the same about Jamie Marshall. Marshall is a successful coordinator at the FCS level (on the defensive side of the ball) with one of the top FCS teams in the country. He is familiar with the conference, and very familiar with the power teams in the conference. On top of that, he has shown that he is interested in the job.

All this can be a moot point, however, if Faison already has his next coach chosen.

  10. I'm going to go way, way out on a limb :silly: and say that none of these people are going to be UND's next coach, but in case you want to know who actually has applied so far, here's the list: http://kfgo.com/blog...d-coaching-job/

Thanks UND92,96. Agree that it's not much of a list for finalists, but interesting to see who has applied early.

On the other hand, Jamie Marshall is a very interesting possibility. Montana State has had a good defense, but the amazing thing is the 10th place FCS defenses he had at Drake.

  11. Always a sign of a quality team. Dominating in every way but the one that matters.

ps-Youngstown is s**t, and so is uni (and so is Iowa State).

Bohl to Iowa State next year?

  12. Is this the quote your talking about?

I think you read it backwards initially.

    Denver....YES. Greeley......not so much.

i'm getting tired of this debate. neither place is the Garden of Eden, but the point here is getting a prospective coach to come to UND.

how about we let the thread get back on track?

Wristen, Caruso, Leipold, Aranda, Cotton, Kleiman, Bollinger, Tibesar? Tom Hayes (K State) anyone?
