  1. Native American group vows Supreme Court fight over woke New York mascot ban

    https://www.foxnews.com/us/native-american-group-vows-supreme-court-fight-woke-new-york-mascot-ban

    excerpts from the article:

The Native American Guardian’s Association (NAGA) argued that the New YorkBoard of Regents’ 2023 rule banning the use of Native names or imagery by public schools is discriminatory and violates the 14th Amendment’s guarantee of equal treatment under the law.

"Today, we take the next step in our journey to the United States Supreme Court, which is the only logical finish line," NAGA counsel Chap Petersen said in a statement. "The ‘Native Name Ban’ laws are both offensive and plainly unconstitutional. Their very existence is an embarrassment to all Americans, as well as the Native community."

NAGA has stated that its broader goal is to eliminate such bans nationwide, including restoring names like the "Fighting Sioux" in North Dakota.

Winning this case should lead to the wholesale voiding of ‘Name Ban’ laws, including the cancellation of the ‘Fighting Sioux’ name and symbol in North Dakota," NAGA President Clayton Anderson, who is enrolled in the Hidatsa Tribe, said in a statement.

They’re only targeting one group, one ethnicity, to say you can’t be recognized, you can't be celebrated by the teams," Peterson added. "That’s a violation of the 14th amendment, which prohibits racial discrimination and gives all people equal protection under the law regardless of race or ethnicity."

To add to this, as someone on here had previously mentioned, the games where he had lots of rushing attempts were games we lost.

    - 13 attempts against USD (this is when the season turned for him and his play declined) Schedule got much better so that factors in too

    - 17 attempts against NDSU

    - 14 attempts against SDSU

The season is long and grueling already, putting this much on him at the end certainly didn’t help.

The QB should not be the leading rusher

They would also join the B1G or the Big12 if they could.
Why would a conference who's media rights just got slashed add school so far out of their footprint?
They already picked up the central time zone with NIU (football only), why would they keep adding extra slices to a shrinking pie?

And there is the issue with the Dakotas going FBS.

  5. Complain all you want about a cupcake game like yesterday…

Sulik probably had more field time yesterday than JK got all last season.

Another observation? maybe the coaches don’t want a lot of Ziebarth on film going in to conference play

what has montana done...i'll hang up and listen  :)

Well, for starters, their football fan base travels as well as UND’s hockey. And to be blunt, like NDSU’s football fans. That sells tickets.

Although I have more goals for UND football then it becoming a farm program for coaches, I definitely agree that it becoming a stepping stone will mean UND football has ascended.

I definitely think UND football is going to become a destination (already sorta has to a degree)….

Successful FCS coaches (young coaches not looking for their last position) will inevitably move on. Just would rather see them to move to higher level programs like San Diego, Colorado State, etc; not SDSU, NDSU or others like Eastern Washington if they are not moving up from (for example) position coach to coordinator or coordinator to head coach.

  8. I just want to see UND become a place for coaches to move up to higher level programs, not sideways to the same position at schools in the same conference or the same division.

Guess I need to find someone else to be my phone-a-friend.  (I hope that reference isn't too old for her.)

I'm old and I cannot recall ever not knowing this.  Are schools failing us?  I'm neither a seismologist nor a SoCal resident, but I did watch the original Superman movie a fair bit.  Don't want to judge too harshly; polled my two twenty-something kids (both educated in ND public schools)...only one knew.

So much for 'common knowledge.' :) Has the line between trivia and esotery shifted that much?

bsc gets the west half of the wac...summit gets the texas side of the wac AND the WAC name...

    done

The WAC name had cachet in its day. If the Summit took on the WAC name with the Texas schools and started football, the WAC would have swagger again.
