Sagard, from all that I am hearing (wink, wink if you trust all the blogs and hockey_L kids of lists) that Elliot is going to stay one more season at Wisconsin, I am thinking whatever, the kid is a hot commodity and can learn way more in AHL than at the UofW. I am sure the Sens will be throwing some money his way. I mean what is the hurry, he isn't going to play in the NHL playoffs and if the Sens don't get better goaltending they are only going to play one round. Morrison lost last night in o.t. If Elliot signs, the Badgers could be in the bottom of the league standings with SCSU.

I thought I heard that Sid the Kid had 97 so he isn't too far behind Ovechkin, and Sid the Kid could be the first 100 point 18 year old.

Ok, I think one could have made that argument maybe 10 years ago, but that logic hasn't worked for a few years. If you look at the teams the last few years teams that have won the NCAA title with talented Freshman and Sophmore and role player Juniors and Seniors. I don't see number one draft choices staying all four years in the NCAA anymore especially with the CBA the way it is right now. The proof is Vanek, Parise, just to name a few. I think we will see the same thing with Stafford soon. Also the good players that are free agents are going to get signed and taken probably won't stay their 4 years of college hockey. Its kind of sad if you think about it. There are only two seniors with this years team.

I think we can assume that Bobby Goepfert will be gone, welcome to the cellar at SCSU. They will be fighting it out with UAA, MTU and SCSU for the right to face the league champion in the first round of the WCHA playoffs.

That would be a compliment to our program.

Perry Berzin did that, after his pro career was over he called up the Calgary flames and said he you guys said you would pay for my college when my career was over in the NHL, so show me the money. I read that is how they got him to sign and leave college. I remember coming home to the 5th floor at Swanson Hall and Perry was studying with my R.A. and I was like thats _ _ _ _ _ studying on my floor. My RA introduced me. Yeah so they do come back to college. I can see Commie finishing his degree when he is done with the NHL, as well as Matt Green, both kids come from academic homes.

According to a post on the Hockey_L there was some guy out there that said that Elliot was staying for his fourth years, but after watching Morrison play for the Sens last night, that might be a pipe dream. With Hasek retiring and Morrison not looking all of that sharp and Emery being an ok number one I could see him gone next season.

It appears that SCSU might be the next team to lose a great player too. Bobby G. Next?

I am sure we will see quite a few line combos. I would imagine that Miller, Martens, Genoway and Vandeveld will have something to say about this also. Should be a full lockerrooms as well as good team. I also don't expect Bina to play every game. Its going to be fun watching these guys try to stay in a very competative line up.

I think Kozek and Watkins are going to be the diamonds in the rough from this season's recruiting track. Kozek can really shot the puck and has a wrist shot that is amazing. I think he will make a bigger contribution next season. Is it October yet?

Sica is right most of us don't make $80,000 living in Grand Forks probably will with inflation and 15 plus years more of work, if you are I want to know what your career path is. I would bet it's Lawyer private practice, You work for EERC, your a Dr and it is your salary for the first three months of the year, or you are a senior exec of the Federal Government with 20+ years of work. I don't fault these kids for taking the money. I not so sure any of us can fault them for pursuing their dream is the playing in the NHL. Granted most of them don't even come close to making it. But think of it this way if you were sitting at home not making a lot of money and someone offered you a signing bonus of 200,000-450,000 and a yearly salary of about 80,000 with the possibility of making more if you make a certain level most of us would take it even if it meant moving to another city.

Has anyone else confirmed this is actually a true story or something that was dreamed up by some troll from Minny.

The risk of having a good team is that you are going to lose your top players.

Respectfully I must disagree with your logic DAR. First off your assuming now that since we will lose these players UND is going to be very good next season and the cupboard is bare. I think this is hardly the case, especially with this team. Even with what we will lose, we will be gaining some amazing players and having some amazing players returning I think UND is going to be just as strong and if not better. They are going to lose their fair number of players too. They wont' go unscathed. That fact remains that UND is going to be better than Wisconsin next season.
